I have only moved here last June and did not start on the garden until late October (too hot and dry!).  It is a rented property and the previous tenant must have had some kind of veggie patch as i have got carrots coming up everywhere.  I have left them to grow in between my onions thinking I may get a free crop but I am now wondering whether to pull them as as they might take the nutrients from the onions.  I have planted my onions quite close together and will thin them out to use as spring onions as and when but the bed is looking very cluttered.  what do you think? (I have planted some carrots which are doing well).

onions & carrots are often grown together in the hope it will thwart the carrot fly!

Unless the onion development will be seriously impeded, personally I might just let them grow on just to see what happens.  If at all concerned, you could always clear most of them and just leave a sample

So far it does not seem to be doing any harm so I might just leave them and see what happens.
