Best Worming Option - opinions please
« on: March 08, 2008, 11:09 »
Hi all,
To set the scene. We've got the 6 Amberlinks. We feed them on layers' pellets from a hopper under the coop. Plus the usual corn, greens, etc.
Water is permanently in a plastic drinker.

Looks like the options are:
Verm-X liquid
OR
Verm-X pellets.
OR
Flubenvet in their feed.

Which is the best option ?
How do you ensure each chook gets the right amount and is it even necessary unless there's a problem ?

I'm also considering the apple cider vinegar.

Don't want to spend more than necessary but want to do the best for them.

Thanks

Rob & Julie

I would only use flubenvet as it is the only one I am certain will deal with lung worm.  Do have a look at the worm article in the Poultry Information section PG  :D

Panacur sheep wormer mixed in cooking oil and then mixed with either layers pellets or grain.

You can't overdose with Panacur. Quick, effective and simple to administer.

Just checked Auntie's sticky ( ) and panacur has an egg withdrawal period so I'll give that a miss but thanks Bodger for the suggestion.

Does it always have to be a henhouse or can it be some other option, too?
