Won’t the cardboard rot away?
I’ve heard worms really like this corrugated cardboard
I used to shred it in my Daley composter, but I’ve found tearing it up it’s easier for worms and bugs to digest it and break it down

It's all about the journey, not the destination

I take it you mean blow away?
No it’s got the heavy addition of mulch on the top  :D

Apologies, that should have read--'Wont your cardboard rot away?'

The worms and bugs in my dalek composter just devour it, not so in my hotbin, I think it gets too hot in there for bugs and worms to survive in there

Yes it will but not before excluding the light to slow down the weeds. Managed to get another big load of cardboard Formosa the pharmacy yesterday when I collected my prescription & the lady I collect coffee grinds from has another load for me. So the fruit cage will get done again soon & in front of the compost bin done & that will be topped with chippings.
