Could someone please tell me how to incorporate Hungarian grazing rye into soil I thought you just dug it in but I’ve just watch a video where it was pulled the roots cut off and reused and only the foliage was dug in not planted yet but hopefully going to abit confused any advice welcome thanks

I only grew Hungarian Rye once. I chopped it down a bit to make it less unwieldy.  And then just dug it in.

But it was a pig to dig in - clumps galore, and it took absolutely weeks to rot down.

I’ve learnt from my mistakes. So I would start early, and then cover in light cardboard(Jan-Feb)and then cover with compost. Then grow phacelia(March), and have courgette/butternut/gourd family, placed in the middle of it(May).

It’s just that it’s a ruddy nightmare to dig in. So make your life easy.
