Seed tromboncino
« on: August 28, 2021, 10:37 »
I have been informed that a lot of the Kaliningrad gardeners are pinning there hopes on taking seed from the photo tromboncino. Such is the outcome of passers by admiring the 4 plants grown and the fruit produced, that my friends have been regularly tapped up for the chance of having a go next year. Just hope that this one got pollinated by flowers from their own, and not the nearby courgette.

Love it
As we discussed earlier this year, they won't cross with courgette...

For seed collection, I always leave one to ripen on the plant for as long as possible, so fingers crossed.

Mum recommended these to us last year, but we just ran out of room...

As they can climb well, they're on the cards for next year so fingers crossed!

I love it too mumofstig. It adds a different dimension to gardening when folk that have never seen or heard about your produce stop and ask if they could take some seed. And Growster, i have to say that the Kaliningrad region seems to have just about the most fantastic climate and weather for growing.....in the years i had a go there was plenty of sun in places where trees weren't in the way, and miraculously it seems to get very good rainfall at night on a regular basis. From what i've read on the site over the last weeks, the good people of Britain need a time like that.

Thanks, Russell, it has to be said that weve all experienced a rotten summer this year, but like most gardeners, we always try and find a bright note...

...well, at least TRY and find one..:0(

Actually, we've had a decent unexpected success with several veg and flowers, so as usual, we all put it down to experience and move on!
