Feeding blueberries

I feed my blueberries monthly with a liquid ericaceous fertilizer. When should I stop? I have read somewhere that you dont want to encourage new growth late in the year as it will not be hardy enough for winter. So do I feed in September or should I not?

I usually stop when I notice the berries are starting to turn, usually before now though.  I think it can then recover and 'sort itself' out ready for next year.
