Rhubarb is flowering

I should really just dig it out. I swear it flowers earlier and earlier each year, I've not even picked a stem yet.

Snap the flowers off quick and it should grow as normal.

Only flower stems on it MoS  :nowink: Conditions here just aren't right for rhubarb, despite my best efforts.  I'll rip them off and give it a feed though as I have a hankering for a crumble.

Is it well drained there? If so try to keep it a bit wetter

How long ago did you plant it.  In my experience to tends to flower when it’s needing digging up and deviding.

I have one that sends flower shoots up like crazy, I grew it from seed originally, it’s been divided a few times , I think for some it’s just their nature

It's glaskins perpetual grown from seed - part of the huge batch I grew after killing all the crowns I bought. It's probably 6 years ago now. It's been planted 4 years I think and if I've had 10 stems I'd be surprised. I'm going to hoick it out at the end of season and put an Worcester Black pear there instead, I'll swap rhubarb crumble for stewed pears  :tongue2:
