Sounds idyllic. I was struck by the amount of open countryside when I drove through France a few years ago. It highlights how crowded we are over here and how few places are truly rural now.

We too moved from Swindon, where it seemed fairly open but what a contrast when we drive around. It must be like living in another age there.

Enjoy it and take pleasure in your renovation. I'm still renovating our bungalow after 15 months and don't see an end for a good many months to come.

Although not in beautiful France, we moved to an extremely rural part of England, no shops, no street lights, single track road with farm traffic passing by. Upsides no noise(except Thomas my cock) magnificent views, no hoodies. Downsides people buying the cottages around us for weekend homes and not understanding country living and all its glorious smells, animals, and mud
Happiest in the countryside.
Breathe deeply, and let the butterflies fly in formation!
