Mildew on swede
« on: September 05, 2015, 02:31 »
I have a good crop of swede, they are already a good size but the leaves have now got what looks like powdery mildew.  Should I lift them all now and try and store them or cut the leaves off and leave them in the ground, or just leave them.  I know you are supposed to leave till after a frosting but don't want to lose them now after successfully beating the flea beetle that stunted las years crop.  Have been so looking forward to some mashed or roasted swede!  Grateful for advice.

I'd just leave them to get on with it - maybe grow a mildew resistant variety next year? You may already be growing one though, cos there's a lot of mildew about this year - blame that on the weather  :(
