Am I OK to compost my mildew covered courgette plants or is this a foolish idea?

I'm lazy and leave mine in place until there's not much more than a few soggy stems left, which I then put on the compost heap!

That is not a great idea, as powdery mildew can overwinter on live or dead plant material - crop rotation is a good idea as mildews tend to be quite crop-specific (I don't do that either, but actually had very little courgette mildew this year.)   ::)  ;)

In mitigation, I am nowhere near as careless with knowingly blighted plant materials.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!
