Blimmin' weathermen

I've just put the heating on ::) It was marvellously light driving home from Zumba tonight at 20:45 though :)

Was much the same in my greenhouse.  Looking at the longer range forecast it looks like night time lows are going to continue for the next couple of weeks - will I ever get anything planted out!?

I'm just crossing my fingers and going for it. The reminder of only 16 weeks to autumn was too depressing for me.

Lets get this show on the road  :)

My thoughts exactly  ::)

I never thought I'd still be putting polythene jackets over toms inside the greenhouse, on a regular basis,  this late in May

16 weeks is nearly one third of a year so it is quite a long time really.

In addition, it is 16 weeks until early September, when the weather is often still summer-like. It is only when you get to late September/early October that the weather really starts to go downhill and the end of the growing season approaches with the end of the tender-veg season. If you live in the south of England daytime temperatures are about what they are now until mid, sometimes late October if you are lucky.

Apparently going down to 5 degrees early tomorrow morning!

Too much out now to be able to cover it all, so fingers crossed...

I started everything as late as I dared given the sort of spring we seem to be having, but I'm still going to have problems if the weather doesn't warm up soon.

I've usually moved my re-potted tomatoes into the GH by now to make room in the house for the cukes, courgettes, beans and sweet corn, but it's too cold to risk that at the moment so I'm considering abandoning my kitchen and rediscovering some of the local take-aways!
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

:D I'm having the same problem! I have 6 dahlias and 3 trays of tomatoes that are taking up over half my worktop  space. We have a little pantry under the stairs but the dahlia foliage is blocking the door!

Was going to put the pots out this morning, but we've just had round 2 of the hail here in Coventry, so not risking it today. WHERE'S OUR SUMMER?!?!

We've just had a heavy hail storm, as well - pity anything already planted round the allotments

I have just given my spuds a treat by removing their fleece covering. Looks like I may need to pop down later and put it back on again!! Tomatoes outside back door enjoying the rain but back inside tonight....wonder when I can put them in their growbags and leave them out. Will have to be before we go on hols in under 2 weeks!!!

Cheers HH
Keep digging

Us too! There's quite a lot on our site put out squash & courgettes already! Mine are still in the greenhouse with only the first true leaf.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Well I don't know about frosts but my tomatoes have just been finished off by a hailstorm  >:( Hoping the squashes are okay, I got them back in reasonably quickly.
