I'm afraid a few things I put out this morning may have been hit by the hail, although it was quite brief hail storm!

The weather does not appear to be being too kind!

We've just had a heavy hail storm, as well - pity anything already planted round the allotments
We had a bit of hail just now - not masses of it but enought to notice!

My hardening-off seedlings have been bashed to smithereens and all the leaves on my squash seedlings have been perforated by this afternoon's hail. The squashes were just recovering from greenfly too!

I guess I shall have to sow more at the weekend.

As others have said never mind the frost. Hail has just hit us in Hampshire. Hopefully no damage to my hardening tomatoes and squashes.

Cheers HH
Keep digging

I went down to The Patch, and covered all the spuds, beans and tomatoes with debris netting. It took me over an hour.

Then we had a huge hailstorm, and the ice collected in the folds of the nets...

I've been saying several rude words ever since, but it's too late to do anything now!

Unfortunately it looks like we could be locked in to this regime until the end of the month, the GFS model seems to bring in cool NWly's and low pressure systems one ofter the other.  :(

I've been up since 4.30am, and I don't think we had a frost, although there is a very heavy dew, which is normal after the disaster day, yesterday!

Have to rush down to The Patch soon, and take off all the covers, as we need the sun to dry everything out now...

(if it's still there that is..;0(

Just got back and fingers crossed, all seems OK...

The nets were soaked though but everything will hopefully dry out now...

Was about 3°C outside when I got up (6am).

Don't think there was a frost!  Brought all but my largest tender plants in last night.  The other seem to be ok in the greenhouse, don't look like they are suffering too much... although I'm sure they could do better.

The roof of the workshop was white over at 6 this morning, but at ground level we seem to have just kept above freezing at the house.  Will check the potatoes hopefully before it starts raining Again!   :(  I know we needed some rain, but this is going overboard.....

Lack of space meant I had to plant out some tomatoes at the weekend. Just had a look and although one looks like it had a bad night the others look fine, lots of flowers and several small green toms. We have not had frost but the hail certainly belted down yesterday one of the courgettes has a shredded leaf from that.

My tomatoes are doing quite well on the window sill, they have to go out soon, they are going to struggle but lets hope things improve this week!

It hasn't dropped below 6 in the evenings here luckily. We had a couple of hail storms but haven't had chance to go to the plot to inspect the damage... I put out half the toms, corn and my courgettes at the weekend so we shall see. Other half of Toms and squash look desperate to go out
