NO.
If it wasn't for chemicals we'd be organic.

Parsnips need to finish up with cold weather to bring out the true taste. If you planted them on Valentine's day, they'd be awfully tough by late fall.

No way josé. Way too cold.

Mind you not as bad as going with Good Friday for sowings, at least 14th February doesn't hop around the calendar!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Hiya,
Don't know about parsnips but an old bloke on our site always says "tatties shouldn't go in 'til they've been blessed by God (Good Friday) and should be dug up when the winner passes the post at the Carlisle Bell horserace at the Carlisle meeting in the first week in July".

Re Good Friday...

1989 - 24th March
2011 - 22nd April

A good 4 week variation! I'd like to get my earlies in before 22nd April in 2011, if the planet's still here!

My method is simple, plant whatever whenever I've got the chance mid way within it's ideal planting time ...     It's called the busywoman's planting plan ...

I don't know about parsnips, as I've never successfully grown one (but this year will be different  :)  )
But I always plant my tatties on St.Patricks Day - I'm sure Rosie will agree thats the right time
