So far my best tomatoes are Maskotka and Latah outside.   Both very productive and tasty.   Indoors the Aranyalma, supposed to be a small yellow tomato, has produced fruit varying from cherry to large and is tasty.  Chadwick Cherry is good too.  Outdoors both Aranyalma and Chadwick Cherry are a bit behind and I would say not quite so many fruit.   Essex Wonder not doing bad too, always find these reliable.

The beefsteak types are a bit behind so I haven't tasted them yet.  I seem to be getting a good crop outside from Dawson's Russian Oxheart.   Burpee's Jubilee is more productive under cover it seems.

Red Pear have been disappointing.

That's interesting Annen: I wonder why ours differed?  At least we both had decent toms we could eat  ;) I'll be saving more this year, so I shall see what arrives then  :D

and Growster, you might like to know that our Marmande went in amongst the remains of the Autumn onions, where the ground had been flooded for a few weeks in the winter too. They have produced all this bounteousness on the back of liquid feed only, so with manure --- they could probably make a bid for world domination I reckon
Ours probably differed because with hybrids you never quite know what you are going to get next, could be good, could be bad  :nowink: We were just lucky this time.

Yes you are right. Both lucky there  :D

I wonder how next year's will turn out? Edible I hope

Annen and Sunny, it's always worth trying isn't it! We have the space on 'The Patch', and Mrs Growster has to consider giving away so many toms this year, we may as well be hung for a sheep as for a lamb, next year..;0)

Bit of a disappointment was 'Gardener's Delight' from saved seed, although we got about five or six plants away properly!

I really do want to get some 'Marmande' like they grow in France, big hefty chaps that need a wheelbarrow to get just a few home..;0)

Mine are only about four inches across, and at that size I think they should ripen OK, Growster.

Not sure we can (usually  :nowink: ) match the French weather for those big boys

G

Great size of Tom there, Sunny! Congratulations!

We found that the Marmade may not look quite ready, when actually they are!

The collars had a yellow tinge, and we nearly missed the biggest, as it just stayed that way for several days!

thanks Growster. I was particularly pleased as it was a nice shape too. Not all knarled and manky like beefsteaks normally grow for me. Great taste too !
