Am in my yearly bout of bronchitis. Not sleeping much, OH has moved into the spare room to escape. This year I am resolutely looking after myself and not going out till I am betterer. It is boring being stuck indoors though. Grump grump.

Good morning. Surbie, I am having an attack of the wheezies at the moment too. But what is keeping us in is the weather, the roads are sheet ice and we can't get the car out of the drive which is up hill. Haven't been out since before Christmas. - 14c at the moment

Goodness,Tosca! That's cold! Brrr!

Oh, I'd love to have a winter like that but I do appreciate living through it is another matter.

Did you know before you moved there that it would get so cold?

Morning all. Look after yourselves Surbie and Tosca and get betterer.

We are fighting a cold virus here too. It keeps reoccurring and attacking the joints.
So I prescribe a few medicinal glasses of alcohol for us all.

As if by magic I found some cherries in kirsch and some soothing ice cream. Hope you feel better soon Tosca, don't envy you that amount of chill factor.

Might just pootle off and sow some chillies...

Yes Kevin, we did. The winters are usually very sharp but short. I am quite happy pottering in the house close to the woodburner while it's like this. But although it is still well below freezing out there, the sun is out and OH is working out there (building a cold frame) in a thin jumper. It's very dry so doesn't feel too bad, you can get caught out if doing the feeding as if you touch metal with a wet hand it can stick! Other than that it's just a bit inconvenient and any chook with a large comb is in danger of frostbite.

I had a Respiratory nurse appointment myself this morning. Not had a cold, but my asthma has gone off a bit and I'm coughing constantly, so I have a different inhaler and some good instructions (for once ::)) Useless surgery!!

I'm off to Northern Finland (Lapland) at the end of the month - supposed to be -20 over there. My cousin lives in Finland near Helsinki and they are over -20 at the moment, so  have to keep telling myself I'm NOT cold at the moment!!

Morning Barley & all.

A bit windy outside this morning here, sounds like it could be worse up north & get worse here later.

Morning All,
I'm with Barley.  Thank heaven its Friday.  I have an enormous amount of work today but somehow the fact it's Friday makes it easier to contemplate.  Tomorrow I can get in the garden and up the lofty.  Then I can make lots of things in the kitchen later.  Have a good day everyone

I can hear the wind but have not looked outside yet as pitch black. I have a Hoop Iron Survey to do today so hoping its going to be dry as predicted.

Brrrrr coldest night so far, but should be up to a balmy -4 today and it should be the last really cold night. My fingers stuck to the dog crate which is in the hen house with a lame hen in it when I did her water. (Took the block of ice out and put tepid water in)
