Yesterday (Sunday) - went to the lottie for only the second time this year and dug almost the whole thing over!
Get it all done while the weather is clement - it can't last after all! ::)

Collected all the clots of couch from round the plot and piled them in one heap.
i,am thinking of spraying it when the couch appears and covering it for the rest of the year.
     any better ideas anyone?
Drown in a water bin ?

How long would that take to kill them ?

Popped down for an hour this afternoon. No yapping today, so was able to finish recycling an unwanted IKEA shelving unit (which was destined for the local tip) for my greenhouse staging. And started removing yet more couch grass roots ready for putting in new fence posts.

drowning plants = about 3 to 4 weeks.

If there is such a thing as the perfect weather for digging up half one's asparagus plants, 12C, sunny and windless is it - garden jacket off first, swiftly followed by jumper (JayG-friendly), shirt stayed on (neighbour-friendly!  8))

Only had 10 plants altogether, and I've had them about 10 years, but they take up too much space in my garden for the return I get, although I would miss having none at all.  :(

Last year's strawberry runners moved to start a new bed, old ones on the compost heap.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Nothing as I am still waiting for a delivery of wood for sons new table & chairs that he & hubby are starting at the weekend. Hubby rang this morning & told me it was going to be 2nd local drop of the afternoon  >:( I'm not happy as I've felt I couldn't get started on anything as then it would turn up.

First bonfire of the year,.. luvvverly.
Attacked some of the plot boundary and distributed a two year old compost heap. Excellent consistency and very satisfying. Collected some grass from the Council first cut of the year.

Carrots and parsnips sown direct under enviromesh, and then soaked up the sun.

Played with seedlings in new popbottle greenhouse extension, went to plot, sat in sun.  dug.  sat in sun some more.  Checked on toad/frog-yes still in compost heap.

killed 2 huge shed spiders  ;), 20 slugs bit the dust  :D.  -Taking no prisioners slug-wise this year since i read that they have 40 eggs each, so have cardboard slug traps, have got shot of over 200 this year so far.

Unloaded lots of fence posts for daughter's plot and a few for replacement fence on one side of ours.  Also some scaffolding planks for the first of daughter's raised beds and to go on top of dwarf wall to attach polytunnel to.  Then unloaded manure from nearby kennels/ stables and dug that in to several beds.   Weeded the overwintering onions.  Harvested some leeks.  Whacked out now.
