Anyone Else Finding Fothergill's Expensive This Year?
« on: December 31, 2013, 12:47 »
Just got the latest Forthergill's catalogue, l usually get a lot from them mainly seeds but this year I like the look of their strawberry runners, some good variants that sound lovely, trouble is they want the best part of a tenner for 12 runners, this seems expensive to me, what do you think? Any good alternatives keeping the same quality?

Thanks and Happy New Year :)

They worked out the cheapest for the seed spuds I wanted (and were one of the few places with the ones I wanted left in stock). For seeds I find all those companies expensive and go for premier seeds on eBay or Dobies of Devon

Have you tried Clockhouse Nursery in Enfield? They are oposite Fort Hall and always have a great selection of seed potatoes in varius size pages. They also sell onion sets, peas and other large seed loose so you can get larger quatities and with less waste.

I know the nursery you speak of but the amount it would cost in petrol would far outweigh the postage cost for me!

I saved £7 on my offers when the catalogue dropped through the door yesterday.
Free P&P and £5 off - my £40 order came to £33 :)

As mum says - about the going rate I think.
You can get stuff cheaper - just need to know where to look ;)

Taking advantage of these free p&p and multibuys always offsets the cost.... just need to make sure it is stuff you would have bought anyway  or your end up spending more to save money, if you see what I mean  ;)

Small Holder Supplies was good for strawb runners last year, got 100 for around the £30 mark if I remember correctly. Just had a quick gander and they don't seem to have them yet but maybe later, still kinda early.
