I have a hen that's been with me for about three years now , all the others have died she's been on her own for a while but now isn't eating and just staying in the coop when I visit her , her tail is down , is she poorly or broody I'm not sure, I would be gratefull for any advice

If she is broody she should still be eating, drinking and pooing, so if she is doing none of these she needs to be taken to the vets.  If she is broody she would normally make a sort of growling or peck your hand if you approach her in the nest.  You could try taking her off the nest and close the coop so she has to feed and drink.  Give her a good check over at the same time making sure she is not underweight, no lice or mites or lumps anywhere.
