Hi guys some more advice please,I asked last week about my broody hen lill and did the dunking in water trick which worked a treat but since then she has only layed 1 egg is there anything i can do  to start her laying again. She is happy and running around eating and back to her normal self Andy

It does take a while for their hormones to get back to normal and for them to start laying again.  Hopefully she will start laying again soon, that is unless she goes broody again!!

It happened to one of mine andy and she now has 7 adopted chicks, she is only 6 months old.

Six months old!!!    I think she might be your career broody hen!  Bless her.  It's great that she took those chicks on!

She is her Mothers daughter definitely, Dotty is my best broody hen and Snowy was very determined to have a brood of her own.

We've got a broody hybrid too, she keeps bringing twigs and leaves into the nest box. Looks very funny! I'll have to read up on the water dunking as she's been like this for over a week now.

I would also check her over at the same time as they are a sitting target for lice and mites.  You can use Vaseline on her legs to deter or kill scaly leg mites.  I tend to weigh mine so I have a bench mark to see if they are losing too much weight.
