How badly affected by slugs are young cucurbit plants?

They're dead, Jim. Deceased, shuffled off their mortal coil, ex-cucurbits and other such mis-quotes, but you get the picture.

They're a gonner without precautions.

All my curcubit plants have only just sprouted in the unheated greenhouse - won't plant them out before june.
Not likely to get a frost down here now, but they are super tender.

Mine are only just sown at home in pots.

Even when I put them out at the end of May - weather permitting-  I put debris netting cloche protection over them to keep strong sun (she hopes) or wind off them until they acclimatise.

It is much colder at the plot than in the shelter of our garden and it saves them getting a shock

I think too early - mine in pots still. Out by day but in GH at night.

Live Penistone so our season is shorter than most! Probabaly go out 1st week in June
