Sowed mine today!  Polestar in root trainers.  They are in the coldframe.

I planted 30 yesterday in a tray on the west facing windowsill. Won't be going out on the plot until the late may bank holiday weekend.

French beans sown in the greenhouse.

Runners? Must hunt for the seed packets.

Going in this w/e, in individual pots in the greenhouse.

We usually do 40 on the plot, and 10 at home, and if I remember, a couple by the front door, as the flowers just catch the morning sun..;0)

In 8 days they have gone to this (see picture) and I've now taken them away from the window and put them in a darker room to try and slow them down a little - if they keep growing at that rate I will not be able to wait until the end of May

A darker room will make matters worse. They will speed up in an effort to get to the light, in a similar way that spuds chitted in lack of light will produce long spindly shoots.

Mine are just emerging in their modules, (quite large ones), in an unheated greenhouse and today I will move them outdoors to a sheltered spot in the garden that usually will not see frost at this time of year. I can whip them inside overnight again should a hard frost be forecast.

Whilst they can't stand frost, they don't want a lot of warmth either, but in particular I'll stress again not to deprive them of light.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

My first lot went in on Monday (red scarlet), will do another sometime over the next few days (white lady - same as last year).  Still waiting for germination (we're only on day 3... )

My runners and french beans have gone into their trays to chit this morning, together with the sugar snaps and the borlotti beans.  With luck they will be planted out next weekend (ie in about 10 days time) which is usually about the end of the frosts for us.  It is still definitely crunchy first thing at the moment  :(

I had a rush of blood ::) and sowed them direct under a fleece tunnel 2 weeks ago with some peas. Perhaps a tad optimistic. There is still no sign, although the hardier peas are coming through now. That was in the garden. I will leave a little longer before sowing the beans on the plot.

Sowed mine in UH greenhouse, just 4 on the go 2 are leggy 2 are not. Mind you they were planted end of March! probably put them out with a seed next to each to see how they compare. These are Enorma.
Also dwarf french, Slenderettes, started in heated prop and moved out to a cold frame inside the greenhouse....These too were early, befinning of April, but very slow growing so far, healthy, not leggy, but slow.
Sowed courgettes at the same time, very healthy, about a foot tall and not leggy. Just sown some more of these. These are Black Beauty.
I know I sowed way too early couldn`t wait to try the heated propagator I made. At least I know it works!

Sowed 6 today in the greenhouse in 3.5" pots. I intend to sow 6 each day for a few days until I have enough good ones.
They usually take about a week to germinate if it is warm.
