« on: April 21, 2013, 22:18 »
Sorry if this is the wrong spot, but I have a small pond on my allotment and absolutely no frogs this year.Always had a few this time over the last few years.Anyone else noticed a lack of frogs,or have I lost them to cold maybe?

Found two hiding in my water bin by the greenhouse this afternoon. . But saying that my neighbours pond is normally teaming but nothing. . . Maybe they are as confused as the weather

Hi Flump - the bad weather at the end of March and beginning of April came at the worst time for our frogs - just as they would have been emerging from hibernation and starting to lay eggs. Not good for our frog population. Some areas will have been worse hit than others.

I have a pond on the plot and it's almost overflowing with frog spawn. You could try and get an infusion of spawn from another pond if you can find some.

We just moved into our new property late last year, so don't really have any way to compare, but we found two frogs yesterday whilst doing a bit of maintenance where there is a boggy patch/standing water on our land - the first time we've spent any time in that area.

Frog less pond and plot here too. We have had a few in the pond for months but he's vanished.

There are actually tadpoles in the stream at my big lottie, which surprised me and I've got frog spawn in my pond at home.  The frogs only became active there in the last 2 -3 weeks but seem to be making up for lost time.
Wash your hands, stay at home, distance yourself
