I have couple on my wish list - but they are expensive arn't they? I tend to go by the reviews,  not really sure it is worth splashing out for myself as it is certainly not something I can really do at the allotment and there are some very good websites out there. :)

Why don't you try the library first? I've recently borrowed "How to grow perennial vegetables", "Plants for a Future" and "Gaias Garden". All worth reading. I shan't buy any but took a lot of notes and bookmarked web sites.
PS
I've just looked on a well known web site and Gaia's Garden is £59 new, some second hand at £21. Borrow books and keep the libraries open!

Do you really need a book if you are just doing it under some fruit trees on a small part of the lottie ?

Why not just google around and get advice on line - it's free.

Are you allowed to grow trees ?

We are not allowed anything over 3 metres and not a whole (5 rod) plot full either.

yes I asked I started with 5 pole on the end of the veg plot last year now the've given me the extra 5 because it was too big for the nieghbours. Everything is semi-dwarfing and down the north end a couple of other plot holders are doing similar with extra bits We have so much spare land they like to see it being used.
