Too Cold and Wet to go to the plot here.  There was a plant sale in our local park, so went along to that and picked up some nice plants for my newly designed garden.  Going out now to sow my leeks.

Trudged down there to knock the snow off my brassica cage before the nets go baggy.

snowed off today, again.
seems to be that whenever i have a Saturday off work the weather is rubbish. So helped a friend move house and clean the old one.
did pop into poundland and grabbed a couple of raspberry canes and strawberry plants. not sure if they'll be any good but really cant argue at £1 each.
Debating popping down to the shed to pot up various seedlings in the greenhouse but i've just got warmed up.

checked the propogator in the kitchen, along with the tomatoes the chillis, peppers and aubergines are making an appearance.

New here, got our allotment in October last year. Too cold to go out today but we have lettuce, radish, broccoli, marigolds, Brussels, leeks and spring onions growing in propagators in the conservatory. Hope this is the right thing to do. Cannot wait to start planting up there!

Had a chat with my chitting spuds which were eyeing up  ::) the snow from their windowsill - they confided in me that they would rather be boiled and mashed than planted out in this weather!   ;)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Went down to the plot at 9:00am, and the ground is surprisingly OK. Raised beds and plent of organic matter have certainly helped  :)

Dug up the last of the parsnips, dug over that bed and covered it with black plastic ready for spuds another day. Last of the beetroot too.

Dug some leeks, fought with the jerusalem artichoke stems. Won the battle but the voles living in amonst the tubers were not impressed by their open plan living

And ... the first picking of rhubarb, a nice bunch of daffodils and some forsythia branches in bud too.

Weeded the onions and garlic, cleared away the dead leaves from the cabbages and pulled up the early caulis as they were badly frosted

All in all had a lovely time  :D :D

prepared 3 trays with pots ready to pot up from the propagator tray as the tomatoes are nearly as tall as the space in the propogator tray, they can then move from indoors into the conservatory, the chillies, peppers and aubergines will stay indoors until it warms a bit more.

Snow here stopped but it is still on the ground and everywhere is so soggy. We have had highs of 1 degree today and the wind was biting...

So I stayed at home and baked some bread :)

Went and had a look at plot , it is under about 5 inches of snow.

Had a look round , took the snow off the greenhouses and coldframes and the netted brassicas .
