Shallots with blue mould
« on: July 03, 2012, 20:11 »
I posted this in Showbench but decided that a wider audience was appropriate.

All going nicely until I started pulling a few loose skins off. Blue mould under the skins at the base. I presume this is because of the highly humid weather. How could I prevent this and how can I stop it getting worse besides a quick pickling session.

Pictures now included. Not white rot. The same mould can also get under the skin at the neck.

i just had a look and i think its either basal rot or neck rot - unfortunately with both of these the shallots wont store, so will have to be frozen
