A kind friend gave me some seeds, and they struggled to germinate.

Managed three out of four, then there were two --- slug in the greenhouse

Planted out  two in the top of the compost heap, cosy wrapped under debris netting to keep off the worst of the wind

Along came a snail and then there was one

The snail recovered from the slug bait and yes, you've guessed it, munched through the stem of this last plant, and then there were none 

And I am very

Not a great year again for the curcubit tribe so far.  I've got courgettes and squash on the plot unhappliy huddled under tunnels and cloches surrounded by pellets of death to keep the slimy folk (kind of) at bay
