Hi.

Just digging over my plot two days ago and discovered some forgotten Kestrel spuds - in perfect condition! Had them for dinner last night and they were as good as the ones I dug up and ate around June/July time. Is that some sort of record?

Seems impressive since my maincrop Picasso were riddled with wireworm and the Kestrel were untouched by wireworm or slugs.

Makes me think I should plant a lot more Kestrel next year and leave them in the ground until I want them - maybe overlap with the mainscrop.

I normally give my spud patch a last dig over looking for those small ones that grow where you don't want them to. 

Any good size I take home, any partly eaten, green or going 'off' I lob into the rough hedgerow/nettle patch (I'm on the end)  to feed the little furry beasties.   Cheers,   Tony.

Do you get a lot of blight Kleftiwallah.

Nice and cosy under the hedge protected from frost. If any of those potatoes have blight they will carry it over winter and the spores will infest your potatoes. Take them home and send them to council recycling or landfill.
