I have been watching the victorian kitchen garden and realised this may be a queen bee, the only thing i thought of was the white spot, see the two images.

Were you joking?
The white spot was put on the queen by the apiarist (beekeeper) so you can easily see her in the pic!  Queen bees do not have a white spot

if it was one of those wasps that laid eggs in things it would have a long sting bit at the end for the eggs to be laid. (icuman wasp, i think is what they are called)

In my greenhouse on Weds evening was an ENORMOUS bee-like thing - it was quite long and slender, slow flying about the size of my little finger (yes, my entire little finger - I told you it was enormous!).

It was more wasp-shaped, but the body and abdomen were furry like a bee.

I've never been stung by a Bee but Mum is severely allergic and I take after her in many ways, ergo I was too blooming scared to approach it, so I used my hose to water the toms from outside the greenhouse and beat a hasty retreat, hoping it would be gone the next day. Thankfully, there's no sign of it now.

I think it may have been a Queen Wasp looking for a nesting place, but I don't really know - any ideas?
Veg? That's chips, innit?
