how many spuds do people grow? I have planned 3 rows of first early at 12 to each twelve foot row, so total of 36. three rows of second early at ten to each row, so thirty of those and 8 rows of mains at 8 to each row, so 64. Thats a total of 130.

I am wondering if I have over done it a little?
I hoe, I hoe, it's off to weed I go.

4 different lots went in last Sunday:
Pentland Javelin, King Edward, Maris Piper and Nicola - all under matting for the next few weeks as it's a bit nippy up here in Cumbria. The matting/weed membrane really keeps the soil temperature up a bit.

Last year's bumper crop of desiree were really tasty.
I'm off for a pint

Found one poking through yesterday - shocker
Much quicker than expected. Might be a rogue one nurdled in there from a previous crop
Still - earthing up already, seems far too early but will have to protect against the frost
