2 rhubarb plants close together
« on: October 01, 2009, 19:51 »
Grown rhubarb from seed this year - surprisingly successful.  However, I was pessimistic throughout and ended up with 2 plants close together in one large barrel.  They're both looking really healthy with lots of growth but should I be trying to remove one?  Or does it not really matter?

They're in a barrel due to space constraint - I'm planning on adding plenty feed & water throughout the growing season.

Cheers

No expert on rhubarb but i wouldn't think there would be too much of a problem having two plants close together. A single plant will need splitting eventually anyway, might just run out of space a bit quicker. However, i would think there could be more problems with growing them in the barrel with drying out, water-logging or freezing. Obviously depends on how large the large barrel is.
All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
