can I still sow carrotts in July as some things I have read say ok to July, others say June, mabe a very sillly question but this is all new to me!!!???

Autumn King carrots can be sown now.

Sow in the next 2 weeks. Still need to cover from carrot fly even through September. Will produce nice young carrots end September which will continue to grow until the soil cools down.

they are st valery and the packet says mar-june, damn!!!  ok well best go and get some Autumn King then, thank you for your help. as you can probabl tell this is all very new to me, so I am sure there will be many questions to come.

I would sow your St Valery. You will probably find that the Autumn King packet also says Mar-June.

Sowing carrots now is something of a risk but if it works the young carrots are worth it.

I'm going to do a mass sowing of whatever carrot seeds I have left.

I've done 2 sowings this year, probably 12 or sow rows and I have about 4 carrots to speak of.  I sowed just before we had that hot spell (anyone remember that!!) and despite daily waterings the ground baked too hard and it was just too hot for them.

Maybe now things are cooler and wetter I'll have more luck.
