Are these rasberry canes too cheap?!
« on: November 09, 2008, 18:28 »
I need to grow a lot of raspberries to keep up with the demands of my three year old son and came across the jparkers website. They are offering a collection of 10 each Glen Cova, Malling Jewel and Zeva for £17.90. This is so much cheaper than I have found them anywhere else that I am left wondering if there is a catch somewhere.

Any advice? Please!

Sounds quite normal. in spring they were £3 for two in woolworths, £1.29 each in Lidl recently.
We use chemicals in this garden, just as god intended

Thanks!  T & M were £16.99 for 6 or £28.99 for 18 and smaller independent nurseries about £18 for 10 so it just got me wondering but presumably these people are quite reputable so I guess I'll just go for it!

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

There's a few of on here who have ordered some. Has anybody received them yet ?

I've had stuff off parkers in the past and to be honest we did have a real bad batch of something or other but I can remember they replaced with no problems when I wrote to them.
He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

Maybe I'll start a new topic to ask specifically about Parkers. Trouble is, if there was anything wrong with them, would it be immediately apparent to me? (I'm a raspberry growing novice)

I doubt whether there will be to be honest, they are a reputable company and I believe they do a lot of plant work for some of the broadsheet newspapers.

Plant them as directed on your cultivation sheet that you should get with them, keep your receipt. Then if there is any problem you can get back to them.

But like I say I doubt whether there will be. I've been lucky and DD.'s let me have some lovely healthy canes. And my Oh has just informed me she's ordered some of parkers raspberries too.  :D

I've ordered some raspberries and grapes from Parkers.
Has anyone else received theirs yet?

i got my autumn bliss from there last year and they have been brilliant, cant remember how much i paid but it was definately less than £20 for about 25 canes. i was a bit doubtful when they arrived because they didin't look anything special but they have all grown well and fruited(except one but it got disturbed so maybe it'll come back to life next year)

We ordered raspberries and strawberries early last month but have had nothing yet, apparently they dispatch them up till the end of november so I'm not worried yet.
