If your supplier doesn't mind then id take a crowbar/ hammer with me, tie the planks at each end and carry over your shoulder, or use another bit of rope/thick string to make a handle in the middle, always much easier to carry a smallish stack of planks than an awkward size / shape. That is assuming u are breaking them up, obviously this is a bad plan if you wanted to use them whole  :D

You could always check on freecycle for a sack truck or anything else with wheels that may be of use  :)

And if not then just think of the exercise  :D slow and steady wins the race and all that ! (And a good excuse for a nice long soak in the bath to relax those hard worked muscles  :tongue2: )

Hmmm... Buying a trolley is so tempting but I am trying to do things as cheaply as possible at the moment so I can afford to buy a shed in the next few weeks :)

Not sure about breaking them up there as it is a Travis Perkins and I just know I would get all the 'lads' watching me - it was bad enough when they were watching me carry them out haha

I suppose I did get a couple of back rubs the last time I dragged the pallets down so maybe it wasn't so bad...

Advertise on freecycle for an old shopping trolley, you can strip off the fabric bit to use it as a trolley until it falls apart.

I recently bought a 80kg+ folding trolley from Screwfix...very sturdy and great for those occasions you want to move something heavy...

sav

I have a sack barrow that is very handy for moving those heavy bags of compost or whatever from one end of the plot to the other - very useful, and you can even fold it down to make a little 4 wheel flat bed trolley too

They're an essential bit of kit, BabbyAnn!

We bought one years ago for Channel-Crossing Liquid Grocery Collection, and it was altered for leaf collection, then house moving, then coal bag shifting, and now compost again...

Ok we re looking at this in the wrong way!

My next idea is a pallet party!  8) Throw a dinner or a cocktail party then get everyone typsy and convince your guests that it would be really fun if they all grabbed a pallet and walked up to ur lottie!

Ok well a little dangerous :tongue2: and a bit cheeky :)

But if ur saving for a shed then £30 is quite a few pennies to divert, you ll soon have enough if u do one every couple days :)

Haha that sounds like a fab idea! I am slightly worried about the fact that the walk involves walking by the side of a river... Maybe alcohol and carrying heavy things not the best combination next to a river? Lol

I think I have an old shopping trolley in the loft though so I am going to investigate this week and see if I still have it as I might get a couple of trips out of it before I break it...
