Advice on peas please
« on: May 06, 2009, 08:00 »
Morning,

Can anyone advise if I need to do anything to give my pea shoots a boost. They poked their heads up about 3 weeks ago but don't seem to be getting any bigger. Is this the norm?

Have they been eaten by pidgeons or slugs?  I lost a row and a half to the flying rats overnight last week and have covered up the rest for now.  It'll stop growth completely.

Nothing seems to be nibbling them, they are just in limbo and have been for weeks!

Do they need water?

Probably just need a few warm days to get them going.

I thought that too with mine, it just turned out that, like kids, they grow slowly without you realising that they are doing it and before you know it they've packed their bags and are leaving home!

Probably you are watching them too much - go back in a few days and you'll be surprised how much growth they've put on :)

You'll probably find, that whilst you can not see any growth.  The root system will be growing away merrily.   They will get there, don't worry.  :)
