They tend not to eat straw so much safer then hay.

I've used aubiose for a couple of years - Makes a nice comfy nest :)

Hay can also carry aspergillosis which is a fungus that can infect their lungs (and humans - but unless you sleep in their coop unlikely to be a problem) :wink:
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

Hi, Thanks for all the advice, I have quite a big area, will try the straw in the short term and work on building some covered area with bark chippings to handle the winter weather.
