We adopted 4 battery chickens around 5-6 months ago now and they've all come along great.
Hovever I have noticed something with the two chickens with the least feathers.

With all this rain the pen has been getting really muddy and they still keep clean but today i noticed these two look really mucky.
Their backs are fine, but the base of their legs, under their wings and around their gullet is thick with muck!

This might sound stupid but if anyone could help and tell me what to do to get rid of it without pulling any of their feathers! I woud be grateful
Wouldn't want to leave it because of parasites etc....

you can give them a nice warm bath and then make sure they are dry before they go back out, but I bet they have been dust (mud) bathing and if this is the case they will get muddy straight away again - just like when we used to bath one of our dogs (the 2 we have now go to the dog parlour as they are too big for us to do) she would go straight out and roll in the smelliest most disgusting stuff she could find
