Ok thank you for all ideas last week on how to get a greenhouse down and not break it in to a million pieces however a few (4) sheets of glass did shatter into a million pieces I'm thinking I have 2 small kids is it a good idea to use plastic rather than glass or is this bad for plants or anything like that? pro's and con's all welcome

I think you're thinking of polycarbonate sheeting, not perspex.

This is far safer than glass & no problem for the plants.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

the best plan if you dont want to use glass is

1. polycarbonate clear sheet
2. acrylic clear sheet (clear as glass, from B&Q)
3. if you want posh, then the double walled polycarbonate sheet used for clear conservatory roofs.

personally id go for 2. I have the upper sheets on mine acrylic, in case i forget how low it is and bang my head. Picking shards of 4mm greenhouse glass out my scalp is not my fav hobby.

I dont think you can get actual perspex anymore. its a very 50's thing.........

If I had young children I would go for some sort of plastic for safety.
But my youngest is 36, so no need.
There is a mixture on our site and the polly whats it seem to be more expensive.
Not much help am I, sorry.
Reg
Just wondering if you can put that white powder shading you mix with water on the plastic, would it stick, I only ask because I use it on my greenhouse.
I'm lost without my SatNav.

I did my shed window in acrylic from Wickes. Got the sheet out the car and was carrying it to plot when the wind whipped it out me hands and it broke in half

So I fitted two windows instead

I think polycarb is best and you can get it from Two Wests in Chesterfield. Taint cheap but toughened glass aint either. Best though as it will last for ever apparently  and is safe
