sungold tomatos
« on: June 05, 2015, 13:14 »
hi all, my sungold have 2 trusses on them but only about 5 flowers on each truss. i thought they would produce more than this. i put about a handful of chicken manure pellets under each plant. have i overfed them?

Maybe you haven't fed them the right stuff

Chicken pellets are mostly Nitrogen encourages leaves, rather than flowers. Try feeding them with a flower feed, or proper tomato feed to see if that helps.

They'll be fine, just start with the other kind of feed, and hopefully any new trusses will be bigger.

Planting them deep was a good idea though  :nowink:

I think you'll find that the trusses will extend at some stage, Up.

By the end of the season, they all seem to put on some length, and of course, more toms!

I also find that Sungold are very good at shoving out sides-shoots at the flick of a switch, and their cordon habit means that you have to watch them twenty-four hours a day - use a torch at night time of course!

Lucky you having two trusses away already, ours are a bit behind you!

;0)
