Sweet corn is a popular topic at the moment M1ckz - here's one discussing your question, although there isn't a simple yes/no answer:

Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

This should have been my best year for sweetcorn.  The plants look fantastic and the crop I have had so far are brilliant.  Lots of the plants have three corns which is great.  Then something came along and has eaten them.  I have never seem this before, the outer leaves of the cobs have been shredded and the corn eaten.  I think it might have been crows!

What a shame  :(

If the plants are flattened, it was probably badgers.  If they are standing and just the corn eaten off the plants, it is likely to be deer.

We have deer problems on our site and most people put up a bamboo cane and netting fence around their corn.  It doesn't need to be super sturdy as the deer don't like to push their faces into netting and are deterred just by this.  If it is badgers, you will need more secure barriers as they are very strong.

Too late for this year, but food for thought for next year  :)

Sounds like deer crh75 - the got half of mine last year. This year I surrounded them with a bit of chicken wire (not even very sturdily I might add) and so far so good. I harvested 2 yesterday and all the rest so far appear untouched....
