I agree with you BQ. It is a shame to spoil a delicious jam with a vinegary lid or other strange flavours.

New lids will give you a much better seal and the preserves will keep longer too.  :)

BQ talk to Mrs Bee about setting up to sell some.  You could make some money.

Nooooooo i cant part with them, i just love my cupboards full to brimming and its nice to know what is in something. I cant be bothered with customers moaning they dont like it.  if my family or friends dont like it, hard cheese they dont get anymore  ;)

BQ Luckily, so far, I have not had any customers complaining that they don't like my products.

I have lots of regulars who continually come back.

It is really nice to have people who enjoy what I cook, and make a little extra too.

I add the lemon zest and the juice that helps the set.

I have never had friends or family moan but its the whole confidence issue with me. I just dont feel confident in asking people for money for it

I can understand that only too well, CQ.

The first time I had a stall at a local fair I was up at 5am trying not to be sick because I had baked so much stuff and had all these jars to try and sell and I was convinced no one would buy.

The labels on my jars had  very small apologetic writing on too.

I was so worried I had to go and make another tray bake to settle my nerves. ::)

Needn't have worried, the stuff went flying off the display before I had unpacked and set up.

My jars now have very big writing on the jars. :D

You never know you might find a new direction in life.

Madame Cholet, if you add the grated zest and juice of an orange and the grated zest and juice of half a lemon with a spice bag of a couple of tsp allspice berries, cinnamon stick, and a couple of star anise to your damsons it gives a lovely spicy undertone to the jam rather like mulled wine. This is for a 2 and a half pound quantity of damsons.

Also good with plums and marmalade. You can then label them as Christmas jam and give them away as presents. ;)
