I walked to the bottom of the garden and looked at our little home veg patch.

Saw the fox slink off through the hedge...

Added a tub full of peelings to the compost heap and enjoyed a splash of sunshine.

this is very poetic - a haiku!

No haiku but I did get to the plot
Not warm but quiet
One hours digging in peace

Dug a small patch near my shed and planted a few garlic as a trial. Not grown anything in that patch before so it's a wait and see
All the way from my allotment in beautiful Derbyshire. I'm in year 3 of my allotment and wish I'd caught the bug years ago, things growing from strength to strength

An eventful day! I dug the weeds and brambles for the compost bin and raspberry canes until I had a near death experience with a toad. I have a fear of them, a big fear. I know they are great for the garden but not near me please. Anyway, I dug deep, lifted the fork, bent down to pull the weeds out by hand and Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh toad skewered on fork inches away from my face. After the hysterical screaming (sorry snowdrops if you heard it) I managed to get a man to remove it (I was in the safety of my own car). It wasn't dead but has one less leg, I hope it survives. Anyway, managed to carry on and said compost bin is in situ and ground dug ready for the raspberry canes ... Looking forward to my glass of wine later!!!
My husband's a water sign, I'm an earth sign, together we make mud :-)

My gardening diary is here - go on, have a peek , you might be able to help me!

Garden:

Dug over more of the back garden - nearly done - just one fence side to do and it's full of helibores!
Made 2 trips to the tip.

Lottie:

Fed, watered and poop scooped the chooks, fed the lottie cat (my day today). ;)
Dug over the 3 lower beds I've marked out and dug in a load of poultry manure and manure compost from the garden centre.

Pooped now!

Sowed my leeks today!!!
Had 4 varieties, so sowed a bit of all
They were: Musselburgh
                   Oarsman F1 Hybrid
                   Pandora
                   Bleu de Solaise
All sown in a cat litter tray!
Also sown some "rocket leaves" and spinach in the polytunnel border!

That looks great - a lovely start!!  ;)

I found my seed packets and made a list... then went out to plant one wallflower plant where I discovered a gap in the bed.
Exhausted.  ;)

Today I planted my raspberry canes out, planted my sturon onion sets (still waiting for Red Baron to arrive!) and finished fixing a huge metal urn thing ready to plant strawberries in :)

cleaned up the flower beds at home, took off 2 inches of old compost and replaced it with fresh, done a compost run to the lottie and started off a new compost bin with 15 sacks of well rotted horse manuar, put 5 more sacks of compost and manuar in the bean trenches and tommorow i will be putting 5 more sacks in my runner bean trench, feeling good with todays effort, think i will have a nice cup of tea now and then walk the dog. :)

I'm exhausted. I rode 54 miles this morning with the boys then spent 2-3 hours on the plot digging with the 4yo (who was a huge help, genuinely), covering, sowing etc.

Felt marvellous but boy I need a sleep.
