Picked more sweetcorn yesterday and cobs filled out bit more than last week so fingers crossed for bit more sun!
Dug and weeded patch where carrots not really successful. Cleared foliage around 3 pumpkins as they are slowly changing colour.

Planted out 38 pre-sprouted red onion sets for the winter. They are next to my last lot of leeks that are thickening well.
Netted securely. ;)

Collected 10 bags of horse manure from the nearby Stables , and took it to the allotmrent, didn't go very far but it is a start. Mowed paths as grass still growing ,covered recently dug over ground to leave till the New Year. Back on Saturday to dig the bean trench.

Managed 2 hours on the plot in between work and the rain.  Picked what I'm sure will be the last of the courgettes and beans  :(, weeded around the leeks and put the plastic cover back on my mini greenhouse to keep the rain and wind from destroying my little seedlings.

Well, it was grey and damp and drizzly, and I only went down to take a look and have a walk.....but you know how it is! I thought,  I will just remove those sweet peas whilst I am here and I might as well take down the last bean wigwam, I'll just mulch the artichokes and rhubarb with some borage, which needs cutting down anyway, and the blighted tomatoes look pretty awful so might as well clear them up before I go, ah well, covered in mud now anyway so might as well weed the beds I have just cleared. Now the borage has gone, it really shows up the dying calendula, it will only take a few minutes, might as well get rid of it. Oh look! Courgettes! Better pick those incase there is a frost, ooh and some raspberries, better not leave those. Now I have cleared so much space better get rid of as much as possible in the bean trench. Can't leave the weeds lying about, never mind it will only take a minute to bag them up.
And so several hours later I returned home, wet and muddy, but the plot looks vastly better!   :)

Like most people  I just popped in to drop something off, and ended up spending a couple of hours tidying up and weeding.

Scout leader training yesterday so no visit to the allotment but I did go pretty much every night this week. Weeded around the leeks, noted the overwintering cabbages are being eaten so going up there with some coffee grounds - I'll try organic first and then resort to something else if needs be. Cleared the green bean bed, resized it to a sensible size (OH built it for me - far too wide!) and planted garlic. I know it isn't enough so I am going to get some more from Wilkinsons today. Hoping for a better day weather wise to get up there with the kids and do some leaf collecting  :D
My husband's a water sign, I'm an earth sign, together we make mud :-)

My gardening diary is here - go on, have a peek , you might be able to help me!

Went up yesterday and lifted the potatoes. Three varieties Kerrs Pinks did well, the Roosters weren't great with a lot of small ones despite being the longest in, the Sarpo Mira are absolutely fabulous giving nearly double the quantity of the roosters and really nice sizes from baking size down to duck egg size.  If they taste as good as they look I won't bother with other varieties next year.

Going up today to do some tidying up.

It has been so frustrating being told not to do anything (Under Dotors Orders) but with the weather as it is, it makes me feel so much better that I could not do anything anyway!
