the instructions on the bottle are not for chickens but for dogs and cats.
Staffies are softer than you think.

Ok finished work And I'm with the hens now so just to be sure just one spray on the neck ? Do I lift the feathers so the spray hits the skin? or just spray the feathers?

i lift the feathers...make sure the bottle is set to a FINE spay, rather than a powerful squirt

Have you looked up mycoplasma?   It is NOT curable as such.....you can resolve the symptoms temporarily, but at any time of stress the symptoms can return, needing re-treatment.

The chickens will remain carrieirs and thus infect any other birds they come into contact with. Sadly, this is said to pass into eggs as well, so any future offspring would have it too   :(

Things like Frontline are called systemic medicines, they are absorbed into the bird's bloodstream through the skin and then the lice bite them and eat the poison. It may not be an instant cure, but it is effective so don't despair.

And once you have it all under control treat their nest boxes and them regularly with ordinary lice powder from your farm suppliers. I dust the nesting material with lice powder every week when I change or refresh it. The girls get a good dusting under their wings and round their bums every few months, maybe three times a year.

It especially worth doing if you raise table birds as little lice scurring about when you are plucking is most unnerving!!!!

The mycoplasma is a sorry tale though. Is your vet used to poultry? Thin chance the diagnosis might not be right. Fingers crossed for you and them.

Quote from the frontline web site

FRONTLINE Spot On acts by direct contact with parasites and not via your pet’s bloodstream. It kills fleas within 24 hours without requiring them to bite your pet.

I found this on the website. I'm not trying to prove you wrong jane but I'm just confused there is so much conflicting info on the web about this subject and my hens still have lice  on them I think I'm gonna go with my instinct and re apply I hope it won't hurt them but one squirt didn't work
