We've just put 10 bags of really well rotted down horse manure on kitchen garden, as we've had a reasonable day with sunshine 12 degrees it was this afternoon.  :D

That's the lovely thing about living in some parts of West Sussex - we usually get a good belt of sunshine.

My soil has been diggable every-time I've managed to get to it.  Loads still to do so I'm hoping the snow keeps off long enough once Noah's favourite weather clears.
So were about's  are you along the Sussex coast Paul ???
I Love my green house

Nothing of late. I leave for work in the dark, get home in the dark, and it pours and blows a gale at weekends. The greenhouse is damaged, the ground is far too wet to work and my bean trench is probably more like a short moat.

But where would we be without a challenge?

Felt really Ill this morning but didn't want to waste the dry spell, so Hamish and I took a walk down and I brought a thornless blackberry I potted up months ago then forgotten about in the garden, planted it out and turned over the ground where the beans and potatoes will go, was very pleasant!

Finally made it to the plot for the first time this year.

Dug up the last of the parsnips and leeks. Dug over the riased bed and replanted with strawberries (yes,I know it's too early ::) but just wanted to dig and plant something). Dug the bed that had potatoes in last year and found 6 lovely pentland javelin spuds that I'd missed when harvesting last year. It felt good to be back out in the fresh air again. :)

'Rescued' some broken paving slabs, concrete blocks, wood and a wheelie bin that were destined for the dump from an abandoned plot. Made a path in the greenhouse from some of the slabs.

Took round the veg peelings and chicken manure to fill a compost bin.
Picked a few bits for tea, and noticed that the lower plots are still flooded  :(

Thanks for this post - it cheered me up!  :)

Sorry if that sounds unsympathetic but your post reminded me of what it was like when I worked 8 to 6 through rotten wet winters when often the sunny days were spent at work.

At least I now stand a bit of a chance of getting to the plot mid-week once in a while when the sunshines.
May try tomorrow.  8)

Nothing! One of the few days since I got the plot when I've been off work and the weather's OK that I haven't been up. But.... I have bought some purple coneflower plants and some cut flower/bee attracting flower seeds to attract the pollinators and brighten things up later in the year.

Yesterday completed the paving slab edging to one of the long sides of plot 3 with a view to completing the opposite long side with a brick edging today. Need to do this so that the new raised bed for autumn raspberries can be finished this weekend. I can't manage to build the 8m X 1.2m bed on my own. It's all off cuts of decking boards so needs two people to lay it out, hold it together whilst attaching the legs and then positioning it.
HOWEVER ......
Got a text message yesterday afternoon saying there was manure to collect today, so did that instead. Now I have to finish the brick edging tomorrow or else the raised bed will have to wait another weekend to be finished, but I'm expecting a compost delivery and no time stated except 7am to 9pm.  :(
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!
