Cara, LC and Charlotte all in today.  Last of the leeks and some hairy celeriac pulled.  Broadbeans flowering and loads of ladybirds around.

Can I ask where you planted those courgettes?
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I wouldn't say you had done anything wrong but it is a little early unless you can keep them nice and warm and slow their growth down until it's time to go outside in the big wide world.

What do you think DD? Warm enough yet?

Hi all

I am new to this so please bear with me.  I haven't done anything on the allotment today yet but thought I would tell you what I have done so far.

I gained my own half plot last Monday and have nearly finished digging it.  Hardly any weeds so not so bad.  Still got backache tho.

I have tomatoes planted about 3 weeks ago in pots already growing nicely.  I planted sweetcorn and cucumber in pots Wednesday and Thursday last week and impatiently waiting for them to start growing lol.

One of my sons has a quarter plot so planted some red onions about 3 weeks ago as well.  Still waiting for them to start growing. One of the other plot holders gave us some strawberry plants and they are starting to flower.  Can't wait for lovely fresh strawberries.

I planted a plum tree in my back garden about 2 weeks ago.

I was told to soak peas for a couple of days to sprout before planting as mice don't like them like that.  I had them soaking for nearly a week and nothing apart from the water going cloudy and the peas going soft.

If the weather holds off today I will go and plant some beetroot, carrots and parsnips on the plot, although a fellow plot holder has said it's too early for beetroot. It says on the packet to plant from March.

So that's me.  How are you all getting on?

Anne

well! Moi and OH spread a TON of manure over the required area of the lottie - lovely well-rotted horse poo with straw.
small, Welsh and almost certainly bonkers, but can be tamed with Talisker, if required

Sounds as if you've been busy Anne (midlife crisis47). Good luck to you.

I'm sat sitting here wishing I had decided to go back to my plot and put in more of the potatoes before it started "thinking about" raining.  ::)

Oh well... at least I have three and a half rows getting a little dampness to start them off.

(I just hope the foxes haven't unearthed them already!)

Ooops - you only soak peas overnight - if you must, I don't bother.

If you've left them in water for a week, chances are they'll go rotten.

Got to my shed, opened the door, it started raining, closed the door and went home! Got home and it stopped raining! :(
It can't rain all the time.

Between yesterday and today we got lots done- shed cleaned out, some compost sieved, some beds dressed with compost/manure, last of the onions out of the ground and harvested some chard, rhubarb and chives.

Sowed cabbages, broccoli, kale in cold frame. Lettuces, rocket, corn salad and leaf mustard under fleece. Carrots under fleece, onion seeds under plastic and sets in the open. New potatoes, jerusalem artichokes, broad beans, peas and mange touts. Also a bit of green manure where I'll plant some beans later on.

The peas and salad crops were all last years' seed, just thought we'd take the chance.  :)

Still haven't started my tomatoes though! ::)
