tomato problems
« on: June 10, 2015, 20:14 »
I have several varieties of tomatoes growing in the greenhouse and in a polytunnel. The ones in the greenhouse are doing really well but the ones in the tunnel are hardly growing at all. The leaves are blue on the edges and the plants don't look at all healthy. Could this be due to poor soil, I haven't grown anything in this part of the tunnel before, or could it be magnesium deficiency?

If they are blue it sounds like they have got cold.

I have heard people talk about blue toms but never seen it. I would like to see it though, may grow one and stick it in the fridge just so I can say I have seen it

Mumofstig grew Dancing with Smurfs last year  maybe the year before   I did a double take then and had to google it

Tomato plants do get a strange deep purpley\blue tinge to the leaves when they get cold.  I took my mum to a garden centre the other day and their plants were about the colour of an aubergine all over  ::)  Needless to say, I steered her away  ;)
