« on: June 04, 2009, 21:20 »
my apple tree inside the chicken run has woolly apple aphid.
could it or they harm the girls HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP ..... i think for the best i need to remove it just in case, but i dont want to as the girls love playing under it an then trying to nick the fruit .

but i dont want my girls harmed  :(

surely it must be easier to get rid of those blooming wooley things, than to upset your girls or the tree for that matter.i'm no alan titchmarsh, but wouldn't the allotment squad have an answer maybe??

I bet they'd love to eat every one of those aphids if any get close enough  :D

As far as I know, aphids feed on sap so shouldn't take any interest in your chickens.

no one seems to know if it will hurt them or not , its been there for a week or so and the girls are all fine maybe i am being paranoid but i dont want my girls to get hurt by these things  :(
i have done searches an not come up with anything about wether these are harmful or not .but i cant go using meths or other chemicals in there to get rid of the ahpids as thats way to much of a risk to the girls .

Would have thought they are not harmful to your chooks only to the tree (and then only in summer - in winter they would die off I think)
Staffies are softer than you think.
