We've been out to lunch, roast lamb and all the trimmings so tonight will be cheese and biscuits with a glass or two of red wine.
-
Buffet style bits and pieces that were reduced in the Co-op yesterday and today. Really didn't fancy anything big like a roast (saving that for tomorrow).
-
Shepherds pie , made with organic lamb from down the road . Scrummy ! :)
-
The plan was for a gammon roast, but having defrosted it, I can’t be arised, so that is in the fridge for tomorrow.
Now on chicken and potato curry with rice, lassi, chutney or fresh relish and I’ve just found some poppadoms in the cupboard, so it would be rude to leave them out

-
Last night was sausage, mash, red cabbage.
Tonight is salmon, pots, spinach and peas.
-
I've got mince and onions in a spicy gravy, with peas and cauliflower cheese.
Greek yoghurt, honey and walnuts for pud.

-
Peanut butter chicken curry, it was okay, lots of faffing about, I wanted Chinese but while Paul was hunting on line for chow mien he found this recipe and we had all the ingredients and went for it. Not sure whether we will do it again.
-
I finished off the sawhedges, mash and cabbage all covered in onion spoonstanding. Apple crumble for afters, which really needed some custard.
-
Haddock chips and mushy peas from local chippy . Comfort food ‘cos it’s very chilly ! . :)
-
I have mash and cabbage left over and some chicken hopefully defrosting in time - if not there's a tin of corned beef as backup.
-
Leftover gammon, potatoes of some description as I haven’t decided what yet and mixed root veg mash.
Is mashed potato and mashed veg too much? I am weighing up the best combo for spoon standing
-
Well I couldn’t decide what to take out of the freezer & grandson was here today for lunch so I took out
Balti chicken curry, creamy garlic chicken, Swedish meatballs-all 1 portion tubs & a larger one of bolognese, thinking we’d have that with pasta for lunch, but he was having that for tea

Cheese and herb omelette, chips and baked beans, glass or two of red wine.

I'd put a jacket potato in the oven but neither of us were hungry so just the potato with cheese and beans. I was going to make a veg chilli but will now save that for Saturday as I've got bits out the freezer.
-
Sausages and bubble and squeak , more comfort food :)
-
I still have some leftover mashed spuds and cabbage and now also stuffing from yesterday. Seems a no brainer to just put the rest of the chicken with it and cover in spoonstanding. The apples are beginning to smell overly applely so I may have to do another crumble, there's no freezer space to process and store them :nowink: Not usually fond of the Jonagold but they've provided plenty of acceptable crumbles this year.
-
3 broken eggs in my delivery today, so guess I'll be having an omelette for tea ::)

I have my eye on some breaded cod just so I can put some chips with it :nowink:

We have beef curry that has been maturing nicely in the fridge for a day or three, plus poppadoms and the usual bits.
-
I put some Christmas lamb leftovers, plus I found some cooked Gigandes beans in the freezer and lots more veg into the slow-cooker this morning. It already smells so good :D

-
Plot jacket potatoes with tuna mayo and sweetcorn. :)
-
The rest of the pasta bake - meh.
-
The slow cooker is on at home with a beef mince spag sauce in it. I padded it out with whole green lentils to fill the pot. They are almost indistinguishable from the mince once cooked in the sauce for hours and it means I have extras for the freezer :)

-
More hotpot weather here than salad, so beef hotpot it was & I might even run to custard & something for pudding
-
I got waylaid by the reduced to clear freezer at work, so ended up with some strange chicken creation (southern fried coated and with American gravy inside like an alternative flavoured Kiev - it was actually quite nice) and waffle fries. I did make some hm coleslaw and a tomato salad to go with it
-
Pasta bake for us tonight with some of the spag sauce I made the other day and there will be melty cheese on top :D
I am going to roast some Globo onion slices and a couple of shop bought peppers to go on the side.
-
Stuff got in the way yesterday and I just poured the sauce over the boiled chicken and rice - bleugh but quick. I'm going to nuke a spud today as I know full well I won't be bothered to cook anything tasty with what's left of the chicken.
-
cottage pie with marrow and runner beans
-
I've defrosted a pork steak, and then realised I have 4 peppers in the fridge, that really need using up soon
So will roast a trayful of peppers, onions, squash and toms and add the sliced up pork towards the end and serve it over some rice. There will be loads of roast veg left, so some for tomorrow and the rest for the freezer. That'll do!
-
Chicken, noodles and veg.
-
Been out all day so i took out Mac cheese from freezer i did add to it with sliced tomatoes and had soda bread with it, rest of pineapple and yoghurt all went down a treat :)

was supposed to be warm bacon and avocado salad. Cue cutting open the avocado and it's black, dry fry the bacon and it smells. All confined to the bin so beans on toast for us tonight. Don't know what happened there.
-
Went out for a family birthday meal last night and had a great time ! . Lovely food , still felt full this morning so very light meals today , just a cheddar and ham ploughman’s tonight. :)
-
Cue cutting open the avocado and it's black,
That normally happens to me with the last onion in the house half way into cooking something  Have you checked your fridge is working ok.
Some sort of spicy rice to use up the leftovers, freezer surprise on the meat front.
-
Some sort of spicy rice
which is what I have, and roast veg, left over from yesterday. I'm going to add a small can of chickpeas and stir some curry sauce through the lot, with a few bits of salad from the fridge, the jobs a good'un :D
-

Sausage and mash (spuds and celeriac ) with onion gravy and seasonal veg. :)
-
errrrmmm - dunno, I came here looking for inspiration. ::) Wedges are a possibility I suppose it's Friday after all. I've not had beans for a while and there's some shrooms but I think I'll struggle for something to put with them - deep dive in the freezer needed.
-

-
Roasted butternut squash with herby mince filling and seasonal veg :)

I got waylaid by the reduced to clear freezer at work again. Well actually frantically beckoned over by a friend at work who was putting the stuff out
A whole deboned duck rolled around stuffing for £3
Yup, I bought it, so that is for tea and with plot spuds and squash to go with it. Just got to find something green to go on the plate now :)

-

CBA fairy parked here, I can't even think what I'd like ::)

Plot broccoli and sprouts cheese bake with garlic bread. :)

Pork fillet, I can't remember what I originally bought it for (probably something noodley last summer) so it's off to the slow cooker with it unless someone else has any bright ideas?. Mash, mixed veg and spoon standing.
-

Pork with a mustard sauce could be nice served with pasta or noodles?

I've put some diced beef and onions into the slow-cooker, can't decide whether to make a curry or just leave it plain. Still there's plenty of time to make up my mind :D
-
Roast chicken, roast pots, carrots and parsnips, sprouts and gravy.
-
Snap. Roast chicken here as well with the usual veg, roasties, carrots, leeks (Paul insists), swede and cauli. (It was reduced and will do us a couple of meals as it was quite a large one.)
-
Sort of cottage pie, but the base was a bit of a mishmash.
I defrosted a tub of spaghetti sauce which was about 50/50 mince and lentils. While looking for that I found more spaghetti sauce, but this time a veggie one and only a small tub. Then I found some hm baked beans - again a small tub. I mixed all 3 and added cooked squash, then covered it in cheesy mash and chucked it in the oven.
It was lovely :D
-
Roast chicken here too with roast veg-parsnips,potatoes,carrots,peppers,celery & leeks, steamed cauliflower, gravy & then I remembered there was still a bit of cranberry sauce in the fridge.
-
Mixed grill with sauté potatoes and bubble and squeak . :)
-
Pork with a mustard sauce could be nice served with pasta or noodles?
It's that odd time between shops and I've nothing in to make a sauce with that isn't tomato based, otherwise nice idea - I could have done that with shrooms and black pepper.
More meat and 2 veg tonight to finish the fillet. It's very tasteless, I much prefer shoulder for this sort of thing.
-
we will be having leftovers from yesterday's roast pork Yorky pud and leftover veg
-
I'm adding lentils and more veg, to left over braised beef, to make a curry :) Salad bits on the side when Tesco delivery finally arrives :D

I just use Philadelphia at the moment, scratches an itch lol plus it has a long fridge life so I buy in bulk when it’s on offer
-
Which lentils are you guys adding to avoid things turning to mush , is it the green ones?
That is what I use when I want them not to mush. Just the plain whole green lentils, not the posh puy ones.
Tonight was stir-fry and rice. I picked all the remaining duck meat from Saturday into shreds and used chinese leaves and spring onions from the greenhouse, plus garlic, chilli, ginger, soy sauce and oyster sauce.
-
Which lentils are you guys adding to avoid things turning to mush , is it the green ones?
Green if I'm avoiding mush - today I wanted to thicken the excess gravy up, so needed mush, so used the orange split lentils :D
-
Quesidillas, to use up left over chicken from yesterday. One of Paul's favourite meals. We can only manage two tortillas, stuffed with cheese and meat, between us, how the recipe thinks we are supposed to manage one whole one each I don't know.
-
Sausage casserole and seasonal veg. :)
-
Dried green lentils bought - wondering if I should have gone with the tins though
Made use of Jeff's same day delivery service (a little expensive but ok for the few bits I had run out of). So I'm eyeing up either the chicken curry or sweet chilli chicken ready meals I also bought. Thankfully they had some frozen veggies which now gives me plenty of options again for rest of the week.

Made a gammon-and-egg pie this morning, and Mrs Growster built a great coleslaw!
Did something stupid though; I lined the pie crust in the flan dish on baking paper, laid in the pastry, and chucked the pastry beans in without another layer of GP Paper!
Twillet...

-
Mrs Subversive made roast chicken stuffed with onion wedges, lemon, celery leaves (all for seasoning). Roasted potatoes, cauliflower casserole.
I got the light duty: I made straight-up rhubarb pie, served with vanilla ice cream. The Mrs. and our 2 sons were over-the-moon for that.
I have a confession though. None of the above came from the garden. But, I wanted to serve the rhubarb pie as a "gateway drug" to growing rhubarb here. Growing it in the heat here is difficult, but not impossible. I've been doing my research . . .
-
Leftovers sausages - might be naughty and put them with beans and chips ::)
-
I'm going to add some kidney beans and spices to the last of the pork loin, rice and salad bits to go with it.

What's the odds on you eating it all, in this miserable weather
Under normal circumstances I think we both know the answer to that ::) unfortunately for the last few days I've been developing really stinking headaches around lunchtime and I've not been able to face food. It's still in the fridge untouched - meaning I'm going to have to eat or bin it tonight. Green or perhaps orange stuff from the freezer.

All fruit and veg originally from the plot (even if they came via the freezer or the shed) :)
-
I've had a pot of gochujang in the cupboard for a while but for the life of me couldn't remember what I'd bought it for. Fed up of looking at it so marinated some chicken and served with garlic and ginger rice tonight - I'm sure it was nice enough but a bit delicate for my taste.
Would have preferred a few slices of leg of lamb with all the trimmings. :tongue2: :tongue2:
-
Lincolnshire sausage casserole with herby dumplings :)
-
Yesterday the Co op had reduced a weirdly shaped piece of pork, supposed to be loin  I had to trim off bits that were more fat than meat, but it was going cheap :D
So that's in the slow cooker, with veg and flavourings from the cupboard. Yet to be decided, barbecue/chilli or honey/mustard???? mmmm
-
Yet to be decided, barbecue/chilli or honey/mustard???? mmmm
Loin will get lost and overpowered with the BBQ flavour - I vote the honey mustard.
I have more chicken to use up tonight - Im thinking goldfish curry ::) :nowink: that gives me all day to get round to cooking an onion and adding water to the paste, just about manageable I hope.
-
It's Chinese New Year so sweet and sour crispy chicken, beef in black bean sauce, prawn toasts and egg fried rice. All portions purchased from the Co-op and halved so we have another meal of the same again in the future.

It was honey mustard, but the remains are now a fairly hot curry

Leftover lamb warmed up in gravy, plus spuds and cabbage. I got a stew pack from work free yesterday (swede, parsnip, onion, carrots), so put the onion aside, peeled, chunked up and cooked the rest and made a mixed veg mash as well :)
There is just about enough lamb left for a curry if I pad it out with dhal and the bone is in the slowcooker tonight for stock, with the onion and the veg peelings for company :)
-
TV dinner on our laps tonight, lasagne. Since 10 am today our shop has been cut off by the workmen putting in the new Wight Fibre cable connection. It's going to be worse tomorrow as they are going across our private forecourt where we park the van. I'm not going any more this week as there is no point both of us sitting there twiddling our thumbs.
-

Why didn't they get all of that sort of stuff done during "lockdown" when it wouldn't have cause such a disruption?
I've made a mess myself today - I woke up convinced it was Friday and I would be having breaded cod, a handful of chips, mushy peas and as a special treat some of the onion rings I'd bought. I then realised it is in fact Thursday. ::) :nowink: Pasta and pesto it is then :(
-
Full English breakfast and a glass of red wine followed by banana cake and custard
-
Chilli was lovely not to hot, Scotch egg and salad tonight pud not sure :)
-

I suppose they weren’t working either ? Furloughed maybe
-
We've been talking to them, they don't even come from the Island, only the Foreman. The four that are working outside the shop all live in Wiltshire and travel over here every day to arrive by 8am. On the tea front we had tortillini tray bake with red pepper and cheese sauce with garlic bread.
-
Homemade Fish pie and peas, no pud for the 2nd day running
-
Sausage, egg, beans and CHIPS :D
-
Breaded cod and chips, Paul finished off my Hula Hoops from lunch time with his.
-
Plot leeks wrapped in bacon and fried off a bit to add some colour. Then planning to put in a dish, cover with cheese sauce, plus extra cheese on top and put in the oven for a bit.
Leeks, bacon and melty cheese - I cannot go wrong with that one :D
I reckon some thick crusty bread is all the extras it will need ;)
-
Left over roast lamb, r.pots, parsnips, peppers & celery, mashed swede & carrots, broccoli & maybe peas if hubby cooks them as he’s doing dinner, gravy & gooseberry jelly. That should do the trick as it’s freezing outside & I've not been warm all day
-
Basa in lemon pepper breadcrumbs with peas and mash.
-
Homemade beef burgers with horseradish sauce and plot veg. :)
-
Cottage pie , mixed veg and spoonstanding. I need to sort my menus and meal plans out- I had to buy the next waist size up for the first time in over 30 years last week. I'm getting soft and doughy.
-
Today is Faggots new pots carrots broccoli and peas, pud a brought Blackberry and apple pie with custard :)

Try some of the Pinch of Nom recipes, all lower calorie but usually really good, know prep time is an issue for you but you can batch cook most of them, might inspire you as well ;)
-
Time isn't an issue anymore :( which I suspect is part of the problem. Too much grazing on peanut butter, nutella and apple crumble, eating enough carbs to sink a battle ship each meal probably doesn't help either ::) :nowink:
-
I recognise that routine, I had to start low-carbing to loose the extra weight. Now I graze on sliced ham, cheese, tinned tuna and eggs.
If it really has to be sweet, to kill the craving, then I stir stevia/sweetener into full fat cottage cheese or Greek yogurt. Sometimes I add a couple of berries, walnuts or raisins just so it looks pretty
It seems strange, but it does work, as protein keeps you feeling fuller for longer, via different satiety hormones produced in response to protein.
I admit it's not the cheapest of options, though......
-
As it's Yorkshire Pudding day :D we're having roast beef, roast potatoes, parsnips, swede, carrots and green beans.
-
As I forgot to defrost anything ::) I'll be having mince and lentil curry with cauliflower rice, salad bits and chutney ;)
-
Ham in mustard sauce, wedges peas, carrots, broccoli & baked leeks
-
Finished off the cottage pie mixed veg and spoonstanding yesterday.
I'm considering sausage and bean casserole today as I can just chuck it all in the slow cooker but I can't say for sure it wont end up as sausage mash and mixed veg covered in onion gravy. I think I need to eat more from the green food group.
Slow cooker gets today's and probably tomorrows vote :nowink:
-
Fish, chips & mushy peas :) all homemade bar the peas
-
Fish, chips & mushy peas :) all homemade bar the peas
You made fish?

Fish, chips & mushy peas :) all homemade bar the peas
You made fish?
Nah, that’s just silly  I meant not chip shop but you knew that
-
Fish cakes with vegetable rice, chopped up fruit with yoghurt :)
-
Bangers and mash with fried onions and peas... not forgetting the spoon-standing, of course :D
-
Leftovers of yesterdays casserole, I had to put some mash with it too as it was a little sloppy so there are probably several days worth left.
-
Sausage casserole with peas and mash, pineapple and ice cream :)
-
Roast chicken & potatoes,peas,carrots,psb- freshly harvested  & maybe sprouts, gravy, cranberry sauce
-
Roast chicken & potatoes,peas,carrots,psb- freshly harvested  & maybe sprouts, gravy, cranberry sauce
13th commandment : Thou shalt no covert thy fellow plotters tea :nowink:
I'm putting the rest of the casserole in the freezer, I need some real food tomorrow.
-
Thai red curry, I can take chilli heat but not Thai. Chicken was involved with green beans.
-
Pork loin roast (bargain from work), plus plot spuds, cabbage and squash. The squash was the last batch from the freezer and we have now scoffed the lot :(
-
Leftover lamb casserole ftf with cabbage and peas.

Lol, sounds like a plan re the freezer, was there’s something in there you could take out for tomorrow? I’ve not decided on that yet
-
Corned beef hash with onion gravy and seasonal veg . :)
-
I found some chicken thighs - the plan is or a roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings. Wish I had some spouts or a savoy to go with it though.
-
We decided on using the last of the roast chicken in a pressure cooked stew, suits me as I’m not involved in it
-
Jacket potato and salad pineapple and yoghurt, been out most of the day so needed something simple :)
-
CBA here so I had sliced ham from the packet, jacket spud and coleslaw - sorted.
-
Leftover pork loin heated up in gravy, mash, cabbage, broccoli and green beans. Mash and gravy mmmmmmm :D
-
Breaded sea bass with a few chips and peas, pud may be banana :)
-
Left over chicken - might be naughty and put it with a few mushies and chips.
No chips for me. I forgot I'd left some of the beans from the casserole in the fridge had to use those up.
-
CBA fairy still here, bought a Ginster's Cornish pasty plus will cook some chips from the freezer, with coleslaw left from yesterday ::)
-
Fish and chips from the chippie.
-
Breaded sea bass with a few chips and peas, pud may be banana :)
No banana they were bad inside the skins looked perfect we only brought them the other day from M/S instead tin peach halves and ice cream
-
brought them the other day from M/S
I've been very disappointed with the fresh fruit and veg from M&S I've had in the past. Very over priced and very low quality.
-
Roast lamb steaks, mash, peas, carrots, psb, spoon standing & red currant jelly with port. :)
-
The last of the chicken. It's most definitely a mash and gravy day, stuffing and mixed veg to make it all a bit more interesting. I should look to use up the rest of the apples in a crumble too before they go to waste.
-
I've got a huge pot of veg, lentils, barley, beans and a lamb bone, simmering away. I don't know why I've cooked so much, it'll probably last most of next week ::) but I'm just having 'one of those days' ...
-
Today a mixture of chinese things brought from M/S the other day, I think i'll make some homemade soup later for tomorrow's lunch, i've also taken out apples and raspberries to make a crumble for tomorrow :)
-
Baked plaice & chips, peas,carrots & psb.
-
CBA already today. No spuds large enough to nuke so it's looking like mac and cheese.
-
Roast lamb with the usual roast potatoes, carrots, swede, parsnip and some green beans unearthed from the freezer.
-
Roast pork loin with cauli cheese, peas and roasties :D
-
Utterly miserable rainy grey day that required some serious comfort food.
Fish pie (mash top) with some broccoli. Followed by crumble and ice-cream. Better now :)
-
Cuban beef casserole,mash, peas,carrots,cauliflower
-
I've had some fish pie mix in the freezer for a while I should use up. I figure I'll drown it in mash and parsley sauce.
-
I've had some fish pie mix in the freezer for a while I should use up. I figure I'll drown it in mash and parsley sauce.
YUM!
I've got leftover pork, probably add some spice to it and some microwaved Basmati rice with salad bits from the fridge.
-
Suet crust mince with baby pots and peas, rest of crumble left from last night Apple and raspberry with custard.
-
I wanted to make a meat pie but the pastry 'refuses' to defrost despite being out since this morning. Instead we are having the Valentine's meal from the Co-op of sea bass, veg medley and new potatoes.
-
Sausages mash and pea's fried onions and gravy ,not sure about a pud :)
-
Sweet potato, spinach and dhal curry, pilau rice and yogurt :)
-
Hm sweet & sour chicken with prawn crackers
-
I found some pork stir fry strips in the freezer (honestly it's like the Tardis in there !) I don't really want noodles so I thought I'd spicy it up a bit and put it with some savoury rice.
-
Yesterday I had lemon pepper breadcrumbed fish with butternut wedges with coleslaw and other salad bits.
Today I've decided to make a cheese & bacon quiche, probably use up the last of the salad with it.
-
There’s a ham joint cooking, so jacket potatoes, salad & coleslaw was on the menu, but it’s so cold, windy& rainy plus there’s leftover cheese sauce in the fridge so it might be cauliflower cheese & mash or possibly parsley sauce, mash & veg. Decisions, decisions
-

-
Mixed salad with cold meats that needed eating up, banana yoghurt choc sauce and nuts :)

-
OH’s birthday and despite the “I can’t be bothered, so just forget it’ response when I asked him how he wanted to celebrate, he was pretty happy with his gifts this morning.
Treat tea of steak and chips to come, which also seems to be going down well as an idea. Onion rings, large flat mushrooms and tomatoes to go with it and then plot raspberries set in jelly with ice-cream and squirty cream if wanted for pud. Nice kiddy dessert for the grumpy old man
-
Freezer surprise - Finished off that sausage and bean casserole I made last week and some of the emergency frozen mash potato as I really couldn't be bothered to do any fresh.
-
ham hock broad beans white sauce mash potato and a plum crumble
-
I have a small lump of pork loin defrosting, so will roast it with some potatoes, squash, peppers and onions.
I've a small piece of plot broccoli, rescued yesterday, so that will be the token green stuff on the plate
-
The weather demands that I make mash potato and pour spoon standing gravy over it. There's mixed veg in the freezer to cover the green food group but I have a feeling all that's left meat wise is prefozen lamb mince I was going to make a keema with.
-
Roast pork, roast potatoes, PSB, courgette and carrots.
-
Beans on toast, just back from our granddaughters birthday disco party & that’s just what we fancied lol
-
Pasta bake followed by more raspberries and jelly that were left over from yesterday :)

Tonight is the roast chicken I intended cooking yesterday. The CBA fairy was in control over the weekend.
-
your early gracie,
Bacon steak chips and peas + a tomato, fruit trifle for pud :)
-
I am going to try a tray bake ! The problem might be that all the chicken thighs are skinless. Must try to peel the peppers, but my scar is hurting.
-
Large case of the CBA here today and it's the night before shopping day so pickings are slim anyway. Unless something jumps out at me during my walk to the kitchen it's going to end up being pasta with pesto.
-
I have a small lump of pork loin defrosting, so will roast it with some potatoes, squash, peppers and onions.
Leftovers of this plus peas and cauliflower to fill up the plate :)
-

-
Only 1 problem, I’ll be thinking tomorrow is Saturday now
That wouldn't be half as funny if it wasn't so relatable
Beef shin in the slow cooker this morning I'm still undecided if it's going to be a stew or a curry.

-
When I went to the freezer this morning, I must have thought it was Friday, cos I got out some fish mix for a pie  I even managed to find the chopped parsley from deep in the depths as well :)
Peas to go with it obvs..

A pasta & bolognaise bake sort of thing, with large pasta shells stuffed with a mix of soft cheeses sunk down into the bolognaise & sprinkled with more cheese. Needs a bit of work as the edges of the shells went crispy
-
cold ham mash broad beans white sauce followed by sponge pud with custard :D
-
Spaghetti, prawns, courgette and peppers in a Philly and tomato sauce. One of what we call a 'bodge' meal to use up what we have.
-
Fridge gravel in some leftover rice. Can someone remind me what I was going to make with the leeks  .
Needs a bit of work as the edges of the shells went crispy
A bechamel under the grated cheese sorts that out nicely. :tongue2:
-

Good idea, but trying to cut down on calories ???
-
Pasta bake for us tonight.
Can someone remind me what I was going to make with the leeks  .
This?
Plot leeks wrapped in bacon and fried off a bit to add some colour. Then planning to put in a dish, cover with cheese sauce, plus extra cheese on top and put in the oven for a bit.
Leeks, bacon and melty cheese - I cannot go wrong with that one :D
I reckon some thick crusty bread is all the extras it will need ;)
I pulled up our last few plot leeks yesterday and am planning a re-run. It was good! :D
-
I think it was wighty's "Leek and bacon suet roly-poly in the oven" as I have a new box of suet too, 2 months is also about right for me to get around to doing something  Melty cheese, leek and bacon thingy is noted though.
Good idea, but trying to cut down on calories ???
That is the low-cal version, I was going to suggest a mornay sauce :D :tongue2:

-
I said I'd make some batter for pancakes but was told 'there are some in the freezer' so didn't bother. When he went to get them out, they couldn't be found so we will be having our tomorrow. I know Lent starts tomorrow but we've never followed it.
-
I'm out of pasta and rice so it's back to spuds tonight. Probably nuked with some spag bol sauce and covered in cheese - everything tastes better with cheese.
-
chicken casserole mash potatoes runner beans [sweet] strawberries and cream
-
I've got pork shoulder steaks, red pepper, chilli, cannellini beans, garlic, onions and carrots in the slow cooker.
I haven't decided between flat bread or rice with it yet, though....
-
I’d got a large piece of pork loin 1/2 price at the weekend so thought I’d better use it today so I cut it in half & one half is roasting, the other half I sliced into 4 pieces & they’ve gone in the freezer, not bad for £8 =8 meals.
So roast potatoes, stuffing, apple sauce, peas, carrots, broccoli & baked leeks & gravy of course
-
Turkey burger chips and beans, something simple tonight been out all day :)
-
Plot leeks plus bacon in cheese sauce, jacket potatoes, plot cabbage and carrots :)
-
Bangers, mash, fried onions and baked beans, comfort food. Due to the workmen outside the shop we've only had three customers and taken the grand total of £14.48! They've now finished our section so at least we can park again on our property but all public parking spaces are blocked off. Paul's Dad wants to order stuff but we keep trying to explain to him that it can't be delivered unless we totally block the road.
-

Sliced roast beef n gravy for him & spicy meatballs for me , both ftf, can you tell I’m having a sort out :(
with wedges, maybe veg & or salad.
Change of plan when I opened the beef slices, enough for the 2 of us  so that’s what it was (must label things in portion sizes. So the meatballs are for my lunch :D
-
Smoked haddock and dauphonoise potatoes, a very small portion on my plate as cream is really affecting me at the moment.
-
The jacket spuds have started to spout so they need using, I hate to waste a large spud now. cauli/broc cheese some fridge gravel and I probably open that tin of corned beef.
-
Easy-peasy cheesy jacket and salad bits here, as well :)
-
I'm having a day of we've got takeaway Dansak curry with some trimings :)
-
Our neighbour went fishing yesterday & gave us a filleted trout so that baked with Boulanger potatoes, peas, carrots & psb that needs using up. And then here’s pud of hm raspberry trifle if the custard is cold enough in a bit to go on the jelly either that or it will be deconstructed trifle
-
Yesterday was prawns and broccoli stir-fry in garlic sauce and some rice.
Today is cottage pie and it is ready made and in the fridge waiting to go. I have stuff to do that will keep me busy and don’t want to arrive home hungry without a fast and easy answer :)
-
Sheppards pie to use up some more sprouty spuds. Trying that frozen mince lamb to see if it's palatable without pouring a tonne of spices in to disguise it. ::) Mixed veg and spoon standing as always.
-
I picked up a couple of reduced steaks in the Co op this morning :) It's a bit too miserable for salad, m'thinks - so tray-baked spuds, onions, and peppers with them.
-
Sheppards pie to use up some more sprouty spuds. Trying that frozen mince lamb to see if it's palatable without pouring a tonne of spices in to disguise it. ::) Mixed veg and spoon standing as always.
I make a gooseberry & mint jelly each year & a good dollop of that makes a nice addition to lamb dishes :)
-
We’ve got some roast chicken & pork lurking in the fridge so it’s all going in a hotpot tonight, plus there’s some baked beans & tinned toms lurking to so that’ll see them off as well & any other fridge gravel

-
Managed to burn my tongue on a chicken cup-a-soup yesterday ::) so skipped tea and everything has a nasty metallic taste still. Shopping was delivered yesterday so I'm planning a simple chilli in the slow cooker with plain rice that should do for a few CBA days.
-
More lamb in some shape or form. Maybe cottage pie or lamb stew.
Yesterday’s was not cooked well enough for us, it turned out the 1/2 shoulder was very big & could have done with going in sooner, so dinner was a tad later than normal, I’d also defrosted the breast of lamb from the half of lamb we bought, I roasted that at the same time, but ended up putting it all in the slow cooker after dinner for 3 hours (had intended that for the breast anyway) so it’s all very tender now & has yielded a few lbs of meat. The bones & scrap is back in the slow cooker & I intend to can some of the stock this time as a first & to save freezer space.
-
Sausage casserole with baby pots and peas, banana and yogurt for pud :)
-
Chicken in hot & spicy breadcrumbs, peas and a few butternut wedges.
-
Salmon, new potatoes, carrots and green beans. Have had chicken for two nights in a row so wanted something different.
-
Well it ended up shepherds pie, peas for him & cavalo Nero with chilli, garlic & rosemary for me.
-
The salmon was as tough and tough can be. We presume it's been in the freezer for a while as we've never had this before. Neither of us could eat it. I'm sure the seagulls will enjoy it!
-
Spaghetti bolangase with whole wheat pasta, raspberry yoghurt for pud :)
-
HM Chilli pork and rice ftf with extra mixed veg.

-
Eggs and beans via the microwave - really CBA today ::)
-
Also got the CBA fairy in today, at work, staff 2, customers nil. We gave up at 1.30pm. The weather and the road works outside the shop are really affecting us. We wouldn't mind so much if they were actually there and doing something. Three days now the crew have not been there. So Chinese Takeaway which I've picked at as I'm not that keen.
-
Chicken & ham ftf in a creamy mustard sauce, with a puff pastry top for him & mushrooms for me with mash, peas, carrots, the last of the baby sprouts & a bit of psb.
-
I feel the need for some melty cheese  As I CBA to make a pizza base I think a nuked spud with some chill in would make a suitable base to melt some on top of. :tongue2:
-
Gammon with a sticky barbecue sauce in the slow-cooker, and veggies ftf. There will be enough for tomorrow plus some sandwiches. That should sort the CBA for a while....
-
Hm fish ‘n’ chips, mushy peas
-
Pork loin roast (bargain from work), jacket spuds and veg.

   You should have invited me and I would have saved you from yourself by selflessly eating lots ;)
We had stir-fry which was pre-planned, but seemed a bit lacking given the weather, so I added a pud of rhubarb and quince crumble with ice-cream :)
-
Mixed salad with cold meats and baby pots, banana and ice cream for pud :)
-
HM chicken in spicy breadcrumbs, chips, fridge gravel salad and plenty of mayo.
-
Hubby made lamb hotpot whilst I was offout gadding about
-
Pulled a MoS yesterday  Made a fresh loaf in the morning a grazed on it for the rest of the day - didn't really feel like dinner
Another random fish thing tonight the last of the spuds, probably mashed and whatever veggies I can find, sans carrots as they just don't go with anything fishy.
-
Yesterday was leftover meatballs made into calzone (folded pizza made into a pasty), plus salad. OH also had oven chips as one source of carbs was not enough ... apparently ::)
-
It was supposed to be salmon, but hubby has been up all night with a sickness & diarrhoea bug, so I’ll probably scrap the salmon idea, although I was fancying spicy noodles to go with mine! Might use up some time f the leftovers from the fridge, there’s fish pie, lamb hotpot or chicken & chorizo bake soup  or I could have the lot & call it tapas?
-
Hubby made lamb hotpot whilst I was offout gadding about
... hubby has been up all night with a sickness & diarrhoea bug.
Just saying... :nowink:
I'd skip the hotpot tonight if I were you.
-
Baked Sea Bass with chips and peas, pud chocolate eclairs which were leerking in the freezer :D

-
Fish and chips from the chippie, mushy peas with mine. Pudding will be ice cream.
-
S/burys steak puff pastry slice, maybe a spoonful of baked beans and brown pickle
-
Lards, I took your advice & gave the hotpot a wide berth & went with the soup but for good measure threw in a slice & a half of whole meal toast & a cheese triangle
-
I think the even the hotpot would have been a better bet than yesterdays dinner >:(
Chicken tonight, with a mushroom and peppercorn sauce and probably mash and mixed veg. The plan is to make extra so I have filling for a pie ... mmmmm pie :tongue2: .
-
Stir fry tonight with 1/2 a baghette :)
-
Tonight I ended up with the leftover fish pie & cheese & biscuits as hubby managed a cup of tea & a couple of biscuits. Tomorrow the salmon will get cooked, whether we eat it is another matter
-
Veggie Indian feast with sweet potato dhal, aloo gobi, rice, cucumber and mint salad, yogurt and poppadoms :)
-
I made a nice thick Tromboncino soup (just 1 left now) with some fresh baked sunflower seed bread.
Greek yogurt and honey afterwards :)
-
Chicken dinner. If I can find enough real spuds with roasties, if not I'll have to resort to the emergency mash in the freezer, leeks for a change and a few carrots.
-
Loin of pork, roast spuds, cauli cheese and peas :)
-
Are you doing anything with the loin MoS - sauce/rub/marinade ? Last couple of times I've done it, it's been terribly bland and boring and I've been looking for a way to improve things.
-

I just poke it all over with a sharp pointy thing and then give it a rub with a generous portion of Schwartz Cajun seasoning :D
-
Already tried that one MoS :( even the "extra spicy" version, I have grumpy or a least very bored taste buds lately. I'll keep trying as I'd like to add another none processed quick meat other than chicken.
There's a bit of chicken left which I thought I'd spice up tonight with some veggie rice.
-

Have you considered brining? It takes time but not effort - salt, sugar if you want but not vital if you don't, any flavourings you want and then turn the tap on.
Last night for us was pork loin steaks, jacket spuds, braised red cabbage from the freezer, roasted carrots and steamed broccoli.
Tonight is curry leftovers from Saturday that have been nicely maturing in the fridge. I might buy some chicken meat to cook and put in the dhal if I get time. It is going to be curry and naan tonight, so a simpler meal that may need a bit of something to add some zap :)
-
Easy dinner tonight turkey burger chips and bake beans, rest of fruit crumble and ice cream :)
-
Beef mince in onion gravy cabbage and mash.
-

Not yet, that sort of thing needs a little more organisation :nowink: I've stuck with dry rubs as they can be done at cooking time but I think I'll give marinades a go to see if I can get some flavour in there. Google showed up some interesting ones for pork chops, most of which I have the stuff for in the cupboard I just need to find some that don't resemble shoe leather.
-
I've just stuffed everything in the slow cooker for a chorizo a bean casserole. I was going to put a jacket with them but the supermarket and I have a different opinion on what constitutes a "large" spud so it will have to be mash.
-
Spicy chicken strips and veg rice, £1 pud jam sponge and something :)
-
Cooked lamb, veg & gravy ftf made into a shepherd’s pie with extra peas added & gravy oh & a dollop of brown sauce.
-
.. shepherd’s pie with extra peas added & gravy oh & a dollop of brown sauce.

After a day of emptying, refilling digging out deep litter in the chicken pen, it was all I could manage lol
Tonight it was hm fish cakes, chips & peas. Long time since I’ve made fish cakes & I put too much potato in I though & not enough lemon zest.
-
Gammon, cabbage, swede, peas and sweetcorn stir-fry with sweet chilli sauce.
-
Pork pie and a very mixed salad with coleslaw and pickles, pineapple and ice cream
-
More of the shepherd’s pie ( not enough to be truthful :() with freshly picked psb for me & baked beans for himself
-
Spicy chicken breast with peas and wedges.
-
Leftover shepherds, pie no leeks left so just cauli/broc. I'd been looking at the last of the apples most of the day but the CBA fairy told me not to bother, wish I had though, some crumble and custard would have finished things off nicely. :tongue2:
-
Been to the farm shop this morning to stock up for a while so
Steak & salad with jacket potato (hubby suggestion, thought he’d want chips. Haha when he found out it was fillet he decided jacket potatoes ‘didn’t go!’ So it was changed to....sauté, herby potatoes

Mince that needs using up, so hub suggested meatballs with the ‘fresh’ tagliatelle we bought on Friday at his suggestion , so will use some hm bottled pasatta & a hm jar of tomato & basil ‘soup’ for the sauce. Can’t wait :D ooh could have garlic bread too ::)
-
ooh could have garlic bread too ::)
mmmm :tongue2: cheesy garlic bread. The plan here is for chunky breaded cod with mash, peas and sweetcorn tonight.
-
Roast chicken dinner and crumble and ice-cream for pud. Happy but a bit sleepy now
-
Visit to the dentist today so depending on what state she leaves me in either mash, chicken kiev and peas/corn or 2 paracetamol and a glass of warm milk, with a glug of brandy, just for medicinal purposes ::)
-
Hope you didn't suffer to much Lardman :D
Last night we had cottage pieand veg, piece of victoria sandwich filled with cream and raspberries which i gave my mum 1/2 for mothers day.

-
Baked plaice, chips, peas & baby corn & roast veg, slice of bread & butter
-
Hope you didn't suffer to much Lardman :D
I escaped unscathed for a change today. Dinner is a mess though, for some reason best known only to Waitrose you can't cook the chicken from frozen  I didn't check until I'd put the oven on at 5. I've swapped to the other piece of breaded cod. Kiev now defrosting in the fridge for tomorrow. ::)
-
No tea tonight, bit of a family 'thing' going on, so ended up with 3 cups of cappuccino! and It's too late to eat now things have calmed down ::)
-
Trust your eating tonight MUM
Burger chips and beans something simple tonight :D
-
HM Pasty ftf with mixed veg and chips :D

-
I was going to do pasta tonight but I think it's more sawhedge and mash weather.
I was going to do pasta and I thought the same
It is a cottage pie of sorts here. I have a base of turkey chilli in the freezer that I have put out to defrost and will top it with mash later. Turkey is not my favourite, but I got it free from work as the labelling was iffy and disguised with spice it's OK. Mash will make it better :)
-
Lamb in gravy ftf for himself as a stew most likely & ftf butter chicken with rice for me easy day as Wednesday s the first of 2 days of grandsons, so by 5pm I’m a tad tired lol
-
cheese and potato pie topped of with rashers of bacon with leeks followed by rice pudding

Unlabelled white fish from the bottom of the freezer, with Parsley sauce, peas and mash :)
-
After a trip to the fish man this morning smoked haddock risotto with peas & leeks.
-
The last of the breaded cod and the last of the oven chips. Will search for a can of mushy peas and a few shrooms if they're still ok to eat, as the frozen veggies are getting thin on the ground and I don't really want to do any shopping over the weekend as everything is always substituted out.
-
Looking at the snow, I think I'll put a casserole in the oven, for a bit of extra warmth in the kitchen/dining room.
I found an odd bit of leftover Christmas lamb in the freezer, plus lentils and lots of veggies. That'll do for the next couple of days, may make a crusty loaf for the weekend as well....
-
Pork steaks cooked somehow, maybe mini roast or Dijon pork
-
Coronation Chicken, Corriander and garlic Naan breads and a small side salad.
-
Fillet of sea bass baked with a few chips and peas, Banana yoghurt choc sauce and nuts :)
-
I am going to have a stir-fry once I have had a sit down and a cuppa. OH has eaten already so I don’t need to worry about him and there are some prawns and squid rings pulled out of the seafood mix I used yesterday, plus some leftover rice. I’ve also come home from work with a bag of stir-fry veg mix. Chuck in the pan from frozen and all will be well … apparently
It seems the unlikeliest thing in the world to freeze, but it actually does look quite nice. Fingers crossed
-
Pasta and pesto - oh the excitement. :nowink:
-
Pasta and pesto - oh the excitement. :nowink:
Got any frozen peas? Put them in a colander and drain the boiled pasta over them. It defrosts the peas but doesn’t cook them, so it leaves them really fresh tasting. They zap up pasta and pesto no end :)
-
Unfortunately not, used the last of the peas mixed with corn mid week with the bread cod. I've had a week of using the last little bits of things up, which I always find satisfying but the CBA's have me beat today. It's red pepper pesto so I may also dump a tin of tuna into it so as not to have an entire plate full of carbs :nowink:
-
H/M Chilli con carne with pilua rice, 1/2 a baghette :)
-
Yesterday's leftovers with some curry spices, to ring the changes a bit :D
-
Smoked haddock florentine, ready meal but reduced to £1.20 we couldn't refuse. I'm not eating much at the moment so it's going to be enough for both of us. Might do some garlic bread with it to bulk it out.
-
Beef casserole with a small dumpling and veg, Apple crumble and custard :)
-
Another pork chop with wedges, peas and salad bits.
Apple rice afters :)

Tonight & tomorrow,I dunno as I’m away for 2 nights but I’m hoping it will be delicious & something I’d not normally have
-
Out to a friends for "afternoon tea". Probably a tin of Mulligatawny soup, maybe with toast, savoury biscuits or a mini naan. Or it could just be a couple of small sausage rolls. Who knows - I don't !
-
Shepherd's pie, peas and cabbage.
Make that mince and mash, as it's rally not worth putting the oven on, just for that, with gas the price it is ::)

-
Hunters chicken dish on vegetable rice, fruit yogurt for pud :)
-
Gastro fish in lemon/pepper crumbs, with peas and coleslaw.
Have just taken HM hotcross buns out of the oven, waiting for them to cool is difficult :D
-
Soddages, chips, onion rings and peas, followed by rhubarb crumble and ice-cream.
Finally got though the frozen rhubarb in the freezer from last year and this years is looming ever higher on the plot. Note to self - resist freezing the stuff  Pink rhubarb gin is a much better preservation method ;)
-
Chilli con carne. Don't know what recipe Paul followed but it was nothing like we normally have. Rice of course with it.
-
Soddages, chips, onion rings and peas, followed by rhubarb crumble and ice-cream.
So good :tongue2:
Friday, so it's chunky bread cod fillet, a few oven chips, shrooms and some mushy peas. I have a small container of stewed rhubarb left in the freezer... a crumble is so tempting.
-
Found yellow sticker chicken thighs in the Co op, so going to cook them in barbeque sauce - not sure what's going with them now, as it's not really salad weather
-
same old friday Sea bass baked chips and peas, banana and yoghurt for pud :)
-
Sawhedge and mash, bit stuck for green things as the veggies were missing off the shopping >:( so it might have to be beans.
-
Baked plaice & who knows! Could be chips & peas or sauté potatoes which in truth are just chips in a different shape with onions in our house. Might have some salad leaves on mine as there’s loads in the tunnel
-
More of the Barbecue chicken thighs with spicy rice today...

Steak & kidney ftf, with mash, carrots & peas plus for me Tuscan kale cooked with onions, garlic, chilli & rosemary ala Sophie Grigson
-
More of the BBQ chicken drumsticks ftf with stir-fried veg.
Made a loaf of bread this afternoon, so also scoffed some of that with lashings of butter :D
-
The breaded chicken fillets on their use by - probably some sort of spicy rice as I've over done the mash the last couple of days.
-
No dinner tonight we went out for lunch, i had barbecue ribs chips and salad very filling and very nice, so no dinner just 3 ryvitas with a scrapping of fat. :D
-
Sausage, beans and mash nearly ready...
-
Spaghetti and meatballs. I added finely chopped plot kale into the meatball mix because it was in the fridge and needed using. It sounds an unlikely ingredient, but they turned out very well. I put a few chilli flakes in with the herbs as well and I think that helped :)

Fresh Lemon sole from fishman no chips just peas :D

-
Piece of salmon on a bed of vegetable rice, banana yoghurt choc sauce and nuts :)
-
I can already tell today is going to be full of CBA moment, in preparation I'v taken some sawhedges out of the freezer to go with left over mash from yesterday. Carrots and onion gravy or beans if anything more than a tin opener feels like too much effort.
-
I'm putting the bone and scraps from the w/end's lamb in the slow cooker with the usual veg and Pinto beans. There'll be lots of mash to go with it ::)
CBA to do something different, so I'm warming up what's left.....
-

Last night I made do with the leftover curry from the night before & he made do with the 2nd egg custard of the day🙄
-
It's not Friday but I think I might resort to a few oven chips to go with the left over sawhedges. I must find something else to go with them rather than just the usual beans or mushy peas.
-
I'm defrosting chicken breast strips, will do stir fry with veg from the fridge, m/wave rice with it if I feel really hungry.
-
chcken stripes in cajun sauce with pilua rice, pineapple and yoghurt :)
-
Sweet potato and chick pea curry and rice, followed by gooseberry and raspberry crumble and ice-cream.
My car was being fixed today so I walked to the plot (approx 1.5 miles), pottered for several hours and then walked home. Some serious fuel was needed after that
-
Couldn't face chips yesterday and changed it to pasta bake using the sawhedges cut into chunks - wasn't great. Back to mash tonight and something fishy as I forgot to take the chicken out the freezer this morning. :nowink:
-
Lamb Koftas and salad in pitta bread.
-
spicy breadcrumbs on a fillet of sea bass very few chips and peas, rest of pineapple and tiny ice cream :)

-
I took some mince out yesterday - I really fancy a nice beef an onion pie, but I'm suffering performance anxiety after a few bad pastry attempts. :nowink:
I gave up on making pastry years ago, so much easier to buy it ready to use. Mine will break your teeth
Tonight we've got cauliflower cheese with peas and some chicken.
-
I gave up on making pastry years ago, so much easier to buy it ready to use. Mine will break your teeth
My shortcrust pastry used to be fine, if not pleasant but it's gone wayward lately. We won't talk about my ruff puff or puff attempts though. Yesterday's wasn't bad but I should have used butter and lard as all butter was a bit rich for a meat pie.
There's half the pie and mash left for tonight, although I've order the wrong mixed veg again  and there's nothing but silly small diced bits to go with it. I'll have to start ordering the individual veg I think, I'm doing that a little too often and it messes up the meal plan.
-
Roast chicken, roast parsnips, potatoes and carrots. Cauliflower and gravy. Rhubarb crumble and custard.
Rhubarb gone into over drive, eating and freezing as fast as I can.
-
Steak, salad and oven chips.

-
Co op yellow sticker pizza with salad and CHIPS :D
-
Jacket potatoes, Paul is going to finish last night's roast pork and I'll just have cheese, some left over salad bits on the side.
-
Leftover chilli and I'll try not to burn the rice this time ::)
-
I've got a small piece of gammon in the slow cooker with carrots and onions and apple juice. Probably cook some mash to go with it.
-
Chicken casserole with lots of veg in it for me. We haven't decided on boiled potatoes or mash yet.
-
spicy fish cakes with vegetable rice, banana, ice cream choc sauce and nuts :)
-
HM shrimp fried rice and some bought veggie gyoza dumplings. A bit of a carb overload, but I had a long day at work and not much to eat during it, so carbs it was
-
Leftover rice to use and the chicken will hopefully be defrosted. Probably S&S chicken out of a jar, I'd prefer a chicken madras but I already know I cba to make it. :nowink:
-
The left over veg from last night's stew, left over mash from last night and toad in the hole. Can't waste food these days!
-
Chicken thighs, roasted, wedges & leftover roasted Mediterranean veg, no wasting stuff here, so I might have to have a glass of Pinot Grigio as it’s open lol , followed by rhubarb & plain yogurt for me.
-
Turkey burger chips and b/beans, fruit yoghurt for pud, we've been out all day so something simple :)
-
Last night was some microwavable fish in a tomato sauce thing out of the freezer with mushroom fried rice. For someone who doesn't like fish, I sure have bought a lot  Found some mincemeat from long ago lurking in the back of the fridge so made a mince tart with the leftover pastry from the other night's pie and put some custard with it. :tongue2: I may have over eaten
There's fish on the menu again tonight too, some chunky M&S fish fingers, a few oven chips to use those up some shrooms to use those up too and a some mushy peas - because you have to have something green ;) Finishing off the rest of the tart and custard too.
I do feel mincemeat is underrated and shouldn't be saved just for the winter festival.
-
I'm having lemon pepper breadcrumbed fish fillet with peas, coleslaw, tomatoes and potato, not sure if it'll be mash or a jacket....
-
Stir-fry with pork loin steak and veg plus rice from one of those microwave pouches.
Stressful day with work colleagues collectively losing it and having screaming habdabs at me. Well not at me personally, but because I was prepared to listen and say ‘there there’ at appropriate intervals ::)
Now having quiet time with no TV on and a cuppa in hand :)
-
Found some sawhedge and bean casserole, not sure if I'll do mash or just use some of the fresh crusty bread currently in the breadmaker :tongue2:
Lump of piggy defrosting for the slow cooker tomorrow as I feel the need for a roast.
-
sweet and sour chicken dish with pilua rice 1/2 a baghette, tomorrow homemade cottage pie and veg, plum something tart or crumble :)
-
Tray bake chicken drumsticks with whatever veg I can find in the fridge and some spuds. I might get creative and chuck some spices over it as well :D
-
Sausages, onions, beans and mash.
-
Fish fingers chips and onion rings for me, steak, mustard sauce and some of the chips and onion rings for Paul. Looking forward to tomorrow as I've convinced Paul I don't want a roast and he's agreed on a curry.
-
So much slow cooked piggy.... :tongue2: Mash, veg and stuffing all covered in spoonstanding. Rice pudding to finish it (and the cherry jam) off. I may have needed a little nap after :nowink:
-
Battered fish fillets, oven chips, onion rings and frozen peas. A late back in and need a quick fix freezer dive meal :)
-
Lamb chops, they looked a bit bony, so I cooked 2 ;) peas, cauli cheese ftf and mash. Not forgetting the spoon-standing and a dollop of mint sauce :)
-
Another roast piggy dinner :tongue2:
I may also have made a fresh crusty loaf this morning, just so that I could have a hot pulled pork and stuffing sandwich for lunch.
-
I haven't made up my mind yet, but after this mornings step on the scales, it looks as if I need fewer carbs for a while :D ::)

I had planned on noodles and pork in some sort of hoisin sauce, but as the weather is rubbish yet again I thought another roast piggy dinner was in order. As a bonus there's enough left over for tomorrow but that'll be the last of it :( I do find there's something deeply satisfying about roast piggy :tongue2: .
-

-
Cottage pie with a base made of 50/50 beef mince and green lentils, carrot, onion and a few other bits, plus some gravy. Some green veg served with it.
-
I was late doing dinner yesterday so halved what was there rather than eat too much late at night. There's a small dinner left for today and I might as well open a can of rice pudding rather than make a large one.
-
Chicken thigh meat and veg, stir-fried in Goldfish Chinese sauce, with cauliflower rice
-
Making my own special fried rice with fresh peas and spring onions and chicken balls.
-
Jacket potato for me, probably with cheese and tuna while Paul has a kebab from some diced pork he has fund in the freezer. He'll put some saurkraut with it which I don't like.
-
De constructed cottage pie aka mince & tatties lol, freshly harvested cabbage, peas & carrots. Really enjoyed it, simple food but good :)
-
..freshly harvested cabbage ..
Please describe the cabbagey goodness - in great detail :tongue2: :tongue2: I've not had a good cabbagey cabbage in ages, much like the sprouts they've done something to them and removed all the flavour :(
-
Ahh Friday, oven chips and fish night. This weeks fish comes as chunky breaded cod fingers. No mushy peas left so it's beans and whatever is left of the mushrooms, I should put a fresh crusty loaf in too.
-

Well if you insist
Harvested at 4.30pm & on my plate at 6pm, not a huge heart but plenty for just me (himself doesn’t eat it, fine , more for me) lightly washed & leaves torn not cut with a knife. Plunged into boiling water for 3/4 minutes, drained & a fresh grinding of black pepper & nutmeg & a sachet of butter buds sprinkled through it. Lovely fresh taste, with a slight bite to it.
How’s that, got you salivating yet?
Plus there’s about 6 more to come
-
Ahh Friday, oven chips and fish night.
Mine comes as a Lemon/pepper breadcrumbed fish fillet, just a few chips and plate filled up with salad bits.
-
Steak ! :D
Bargain from work and OH is out, so not a problem that there was only one. I had salad with it :)
-
ermm I was going to do a shepherds pie, I even bought a cabbage at a shocking £1.47  but the weather has changed it's mind and it feels more of a rice or pasta day. Not sure if I should do a keema curry with the lamb mince or tuna pasta bake.
-
Cajun pork chop, with mixed veg mix ftf and cauliflower cheese to fill up the plate.
-
Curry from freezer with pilua rice and popadoms :)
-
Mushroom omelette for me and chicken chasseur and dumplings for Paul.
-
Looking like it's shepherd pie weather ;) and cabbage, lots and lots of cabbage. I like mine with a little bit of bite left and just a smidge of English mustard stirred in :tongue2:
-
I'm defrosting lamb chops, to go with sliced beans and carrot & swede mash, I think
-
Spicy steaklets with new pots carrots broccolli and peas, Apple and blackberry crumble with ice cream :)
-
Ham egg and a few chips, rest of crumble and ice cream :)
-
Spicy chicken breast fillet with stir-fry veg, here.
-
Roast chicken with roast pots,Mediterranean veg, asparagus ,carrots & the very last of the psb as the stems were stringy, stuffing & gravy
-
Spaghetti Carbonara with leeks added in to stop them going to waste.
-
Tray bake chicken legs with potatoes, carrots and onion, served with broccoli and peas.
-
There's some lamb mince left, can't see any reason not to do another shepherds pie other than a complete lack of enthusiasm to peel some spuds.
-
a complete lack of enthusiasm to peel some spuds.
Go on, you can do it, you know you can
-
Smoked haddock mornay with new potatoes and I think there's some green beans in the fridge.
-
MandS prawns in batter with some sort of dip...
Mrs Growster hates them and they're taking up too much room in the freezer, so her man has to step up and take the flak!
They're fabulous so who's a lucky chap then?
-
Smoked haddock mornay with new potatoes and I think there's some green beans in the fridge.

Out of curiosity I visited our local community larder. Ten items for £2. Came away with potatoes, cauliflower, carrots, Pak choi and minced venison. So ' cottage pie' for us last night. Also picked up some blueberries and bread. They were about to bin some use by posh baby food so I nabbed that for the dog who is getting picky about food.
A success
-
Salmon but what with to be decided, got loads of parsley at he plot so could be parsley sauce & mash, although I fancied noodles but himself won’t have ‘that muck’ all the more for me :D
-
a complete lack of enthusiasm to peel some spuds.
Go on, you can do it, you know you can
I'm not gonna lie, it required huge effort and took me until nearly 6pm. ::) Today I have the opposite problem. There's mash but nothing else, unless I can find anything more interesting lurking in the freezer, it looks like sawhedge and mash again.
-
Sawhedges here as well, but with roasted new potatoes and veg
-
gammon steak with baby new potatoes, peas and green beans ftf.
-
getting lazier. Two crumpets with marmite and a lump of cheese and a thai cuppa soup. Raging thirst all night ::)
-
Sounded like a lot of effort if you ask me Mrs B. For ultimate CBA but still classed as food, try a pouch of microwave rice (one of the exotic ones tilda does) and one of the John west inspiration flavoured tuna tins dumped in it - 2 Mins, even beats nuking a spud ;)
Id didn't get round to the bangers and mash yesterday so I'm trying again today.
-
We went out for lunch, so were having a couple of crumpets tonight :)
-
HM barbecue chicken drumsticks, with a chilli spiced stir-fry
-
Potato and spinach curry, rice and yogurt.
Finally got to the end of the bumper bag of new potatoes I got from work. Suckered by a bargain, but it was a lot of spuds
-
So, nobody eating chicken at the moment  :nowink:
-
Friday :D No brainer fish day. The rest of the chunky fish fingers , a few oven chips, a few mushies , might go with peas and sweetcorn rather than the standard mushy peas though. There's a lot of extra milk for some reason, Im considering a rice pudding in the slow cooker as a bit of a treat.
-
So, nobody eating chicken at the moment  :nowink:
HM barbecue chicken drumsticks, with a chilli spiced stir-fry
erm?
Today, it's unlabelled white fish ftf, probably Basa, peas and baby new potatoes all covered in parsley sauce :D
-
The mackeral fillets we got for 'earlier' this year (or at the tail end of last year) which was supposed to be made into pate. :nowink: Have found a recipe in my box for mackeral and new potato salad with a wholegrain mustard sauce.
-
Baked Haddock fillet tail end with chips and peas, pineapple and yoghurt :)
-
Fish and chips, white wine and ice cream
-
Beef casserole with fresh asparagus & broad beans ftf
-
I'm more to be pitied than scorned MoS. I did read it, but did not connected chicken drumsticks to actual chicken
I need to finish off the goldfish curry sauce which is now years past its use by date, chicken curry with rice feels about right.
-
I'm more to be pitied than scorned MoS. I did read it, but did not connected chicken drumsticks to actual chicken
I'll forgive you  I found some stewing beef in the freezer, and fancy a curry as well, but all the Goldfish got used (It's on the list for the next delivery) so I'll be getting out the spice box and making it up as I go along
-
Must be curry night
We had leftover potato and spinach curry and chicken breasts roasted on the bone with a liberal coating of spices. Shop bought naans and some yogurt with lots of coriander and mint in it made it up to a full meal :)
-
Lamb chops here, with a few roasties, mash, cabbage, peas, gravy.
-
The other chicken breast, probably with mash and veg. Not sure yet if I'll cover it in spoonstanding or a peppercorn sauce .
-
There's a pork chop defrosting, think I'll do a traybake, 'cos there's a few peppers and a wedge of butternut, in the fridge which need using up.
-
I got some chicken breast out of the freezer and it turned out to be small pieces when de-frosted, so it's a stir fry in garlic oil, roasted parsnips, carrots, new spuds, peas and sweetcorn...plus an Angel Delight!
There's also a bottle of Champion ale in the fridge for the witching hour, plus a bottle of white...
-
Last night was chilli, tonight mince and onion pie new pots with veg broccolli carrots and peas , Peaches and yoghurt or ice cream, haven't done any cooking this weekend getting garden finished :D
-
Spaghetti with prawns in tomato and garlic sauce followed by plot tayberries and boysenberries from the freezer, which I had set into jelly. After some debate we settled on squirty cream with pud, ice-cream was an option but OH rejected that idea
-
Yesterday was roasted rib of beef & all the trimmings . It had been in the freezer from Christmas (never got round to using it) started defrosting it on Wednesday. Lovely piece of beef, roast potatoes, parsnips, Mediterranean veg,Yorkshire puds, peas, carrots & fresh asparagus, about the last of the cavolo Nero kale cooked with onion, chilli, garlic & rosemary ala Spoghie Grigson & lashing of gravy. Washed down with a nice red vino colapso, that we’d been bought for Christmas & I’d squirrelled away to have with the beef .
Folded by apple pie or jam & banana flan, ice cream, cream or yogurt.
Shared with our daughter & her partner.
-
As Snow steadfastly refuses to send me care packages :nowink:  I'm having to use up the rest of the chicken. Diced and dumped into some pasta.
-
As Snow steadfastly refuses to send me care packages :nowink:  I'm having to use up the rest of the chicken. Diced and dumped into some pasta.
Ahh sorry Lardman, hate to tell you but it’s more of the same reheated with extra mash methinks  mind you I portioned up the apple pie & that’s in the freezer, daughter took a chunk though for her (she doesn’t eat cold custard- goodness knows where we got her from ) & flan for partner. Hubby had flan for breakfast & miraculously some more has disappeared since then not by me I hasten to add :D
-
Todays carefully created and lovingly presented meal ::) will be mince in gravy peas and mash
-
Todays carefully created and lovingly presented meal ::) will be mince in gravy peas and mash
Nothing wrong with that :D
We have steak in pepper sauce (bargain buy) so it will have to be chips with that. I’ve got stuff in the fridge to make a side salad.
More berries in jelly for pud, probably with more squirty cream if OH has any say in it
-
Jacket potato with salad and cold meats, pineapple and yoghurt :)
-

-
Leftover spag bol but I've run out of Parmesan  :nowink:
-

-
Hm slow cooked chilli and rice

-
Back to pasta and pesto tonight. I made such a mess of the shopping yesterday - dinner times are going to be interesting for the next 2 weeks
-
Yesterday I defrosted some lamb chops, which turned out to be more bone than meat, so I casseroled them with plenty of veg.
Leftovers today with a few pinto beans added to thicken it up a bit, prob also do some mash.
-
Scotch egg with a mixed salad tonight, fruit crumble and yoghurt left over from yesterday. Food for the next few days will be a mish mach as we have to eat food out the freezer in shed, as were having a new shed built, a lot of work. :)

Pud makes re strawberries from the tunnel

I made a huge dish of pretend Lasagne. I found I had no Lasagne sheets in the cupboard  so used a layer of Penne instead :nowink: Usual white sauce with plenty of cheese on top, though :)
-

-
Spaghetti with a tomato and garlic sauce. A few prawns chucked in for good measure. Tender stem broccoli for veg.
-
Pasta and pesto - didn't want it . didn't enjoy, didn't taste better with cheese
It did however use up the last of the fusilli, the last dregs of white wine vinegar, the last bit of pesto and what was left of the parmesan. So the unsatisfying dinner was at least balanced by the satisfaction of having a good clear out. :nowink: Simple things ::)
-
I could tell you I had something amazingly exotic, or something that took hours to cook, but the truth?
.
.
.
Ok in a really bad CBA moment - I ate the whole packet of 6 Brioche chocolate chip rolls  Carb overload is making me feel sleepy already :nowink:

-
Chicken casserole with a dumpling and veg, Manderine trifle home made :)
-
We defrosted the little chest freezer today and found several packs of snacks left over from earlier in the year. So an assortment of these which empties up quite a bit of space. Most packs only had two or three portions left. Easy dinner but very tasty.
-
Tonight will be the sliced roast beef ftf that was supposed to be Fridays meal, with the usual suspects I assume lol
Well that didn’t go to plan  I opened the 2 pots of what I believed to be sliced beef in gravy & it was just gravy, so we had cold roast chicken from yesterday & took the mustard & horserubbish off the table
-
Jacket potatoes, roasted carrots, pork loin steaks and a load of spring greens from the plot with butter and pepper stirred in at the end.
The spring greens were the best bit. I bought in plug plants as mine from seed were a miserable failure and they are worth the investment. So tasty compared to anything you can buy :D
-
More cottage pie and chunky mixed veg.
Not sure what was wrong with the mash though, for want of a better term is was "greasy". Checking the bag of generic white potatoes I bought, they appear to spectre which are a new variety to me, hope they're not all like that.

-
Salmon with (dried )egg noodles & oodles of veg & oyster sauce for me, salmon, wedges & tomatoes for himself

-
Chicken breast in spicy breadcrumbs with salad and wedges.
-
Soddages, mash, gravy, spring greens … contentment :D
-
Chicken & chorizo traybake with potatoes, onions, garlic, tomatoes, extra celery & carrots. Served with green beans & crusty bread. Leftovers will be made into soup with the chicken stock made from Saturday’s roast & leftover chicken, then blitzed & I will can it for the pantry shelves .

Hope you feel better soon Lardy.
The delivery was good, apart from a lack of apple sauce
-
Hope you feel better soon Lardy.
It's probably just a reaction to that bright, round, orange thing in the sky for the last few days. :nowink: I really wasn't in the mood tonight but I gave myself a swift kick up the behind, and have eaten a goodly amount. There are also leftovers for tomorrow which is a bonus.
-
Pleased you managed to get your @#se into gear Lardy, I’m sure a good meal inside you will have good repercussions for you :)
-
Last night was pork loin steaks and sliced mushrooms in a pepper sauce, mash and cauliflower and broccoli florets.

Sorry to hear you’re still not well :(
-
Roast chicken dinner with homegrown greens and mangetout peas, followed by homegrown strawberries with ice-cream.
Get well soon Lardman. Plague that insists on lurking around is very wearing. Porridge is fine if that is what you want. Anything you can manage to eat will help.
-
I thought I fancied chicken curry, but only managed a few mouthfuls. According to my husband it was fantastic.
-

-
It was supposed to be breaded cod, a few oven chips and some mushy peas - it's Friday. but I *really* can't see me putting the oven on in this heat. I can't face any more pasta either, it's looking beans on toast :nowink:

Chicken breast in spicy breadcrumbs with coleslaw, salad and a small jacket potato.
Much the same today, just replace the chicken with a pork chop :D
-
Fish pie and some green beans.

Fish pie and some green beans.
Rather fancy some of that myself tonight. it will have to be peas rather than green beans and perhaps a bit of broccoli to bulk the green side out.
-

-
Beef curry with runner beans and cauliflower rice.
I want your tea :tongue2:
Long, hot and tiresome day at work and I have brought home cottage cheese, salad and rolls, but I now feel hard done by. I may need to compensate by eating one of the almond Magnums I also came back with
-
Baked plaice & freshly harvested new potatoes from outside. Other stuff to be decided
-
Tuna pasta bake yesterday. I should really change to rice tonight, sweet and sour chicken would be the least amount of effort assuming the chicken defrosts in time.
-
Pork stirfry, with long stem broccoli, peppers, spring onions and assorted greens.
-
Kookoo, which is an Iranian version of a frittata. The difference is that you add bicarbonate of soda to the eggs so it puffs up into a more fluffy pie type thing.
This one is new potatoes, spring onions and parsley and is already made, so it will be room temperature by the time we eat. Couscous salad to go with it :)
-
Beef burger with new potatoes and a mixed salad, pineapple and strawberries bit of ice cream . :)

-
Sausages and the rest of the Greek beans.
-
The last of the cauli/broc cheese with the breaded cod and a few wedges.
-
OH was late back and wanted Indian takeaway and a beer.
I had chicken shashlick which is a kebab of spiced chicken chunks, pepper, onion and tomato plus some sag rice.
-
M&S veggie casserole and herb dumplings. They were on special before anyone panics that I've lost my senses and taken to buying ready meals. :nowink:
I had planned on putting something extra with it, but CBA. To be honest it wasn't bad - bit like a good quality thick chunky veggie soup and the dumplings provided a bit of extra bulk, I was pleasantly surprised, not worth full retail but I'd consider buying it again
-
Stig & Katy came for dinner yesterday, I'd managed to snaffle a good-sized joint of beef from the Co op a few weeks ago, so defrosted and cooked that with roasties, Yorkshires, cauli cheese and sugarsnaps.
Leftovers today, for me, the rest of the beef in a curry for the freezer :D
Waste not, want not :D
-
Scotch egg and a mixed salad colslaw, strawberries and raspberries from garden with ice cream :D
-
Chicken stir-fry with rice. I had peppers and spring onions in the fridge that needed using up, plus mangetout peas and greens from the plot, so the menu wrote itself.
-
Something with a chicken steak  No spuds large enough to nuke though so it will probably have to be some sort of spicy rice. Broccoli is the only veg I can think of to make up the green part.
-
Boneless, skinless chicken thighs from M &S, but they were incredibly greasy, with wedges, green salad, tomatoes & balsamic & a coleslaw made with kohl rabi, carrot & apple.
-
Pork chop tray bake with veg and hg new potatoes, plus hg mangetout on the side. A taster of my hm gooseberry jelly with roasted garlic and sage, as there was a small jar not quite filled so it can’t store - yum :D
-
Thanks to chums here explaining what it is all about, it was a remoulade with raw julienned green and yellow courgettes and fresh peas with several slivers of parmesan and garlic mayo...
Worked well too!
-
Mince and tatties (the usual veg in with the mince, of course)
-
Leftovers - chicken and rice. Will need to fish out some more cauli/broc from the mixed veg again :nowink: It will just be a bag of sliced carrots shortly.
-
Ham and cheese omellet new pot and peas, fruit yoghurt :)
-
Tomato egg drop curry and rice. It is a tomato curry base you crack eggs into, cover and cook for 5 minutes, so curry in a hurry :D
-
Thought Id try a pukka pie, I expect to be underwhelmed ::) a few oven chips, peas and corn if I can be bothered mushy peas if I can't. Odd that mushy peas feels like junk food but boiled peas don't.
-
Portion of HM Lasagne ftf, fridge gravel salad.
Yog & HG Raspberries for pud.
-
Large piece of Haddock which i fried it was lovely few chips and peas, pineapple and strawberries from garden :)

Sounds like you have your appetite back Snow - that's a good sign you're on the mend.
I have a lump of piggy shoulder destined for the slow cooker, chunky mixed veg, roasites and stuffing to go with it, shame there's no apple sauce left :( .
-

-
Smoked haddock risotto with peas & the last few broad beans that I picked when I cleared the plants that had given up the ghost earlier today
-
I finished the pork yesterday which means everything now needs to be cooked - I'm really not in the mood to stand in the kitchen cooking in this heat so it's a case of a freezer raid the only criteria being "can it be nuked".
-
Hubby is in the kitchen imitating Generaro Contralto & has made fresh pasta & it seems we’re having chicken pieces in a tomato sauce
-
Salmon fillet with veg rice, 1/2 a melon each it was so sweet :D
-
Knabbed a yellow stickered pack of lamb steaks this morning, had one with coleslaw, HG baby new potatoes and peas 8)
-
Cold roast chicken with roasted fennel salad and potato salad. All veg from the plot. Any cooking was done first thing before the heat built up too much.
I also roasted beetroot while I was at it so that is all ready for tomorrow :)

-

Cubed up spuds are quite nice in a chilli. They can take the place of beans or be an addition.
Just parboil for a few minutes until half cooked, then chuck them in to soak up some sauce.
It’s not authentic but it is tasty. If you like the way potatoes go when cooked in curry, you’ll like this :)
-
Spicy sausage and Greek beans ftf salad bits on the side. Quick and easy 8)
-
Spaghette bolangnase with whole wheat pasta, banana yoghurt choc sauce and nuts :D
-
Cubed up spuds are quite nice in a chilli. They can take the place of beans or be an addition.
It wasn't overly hot so I made a large cottage pie. There should be enough for a few days, especially as I just don't feel like eating tonight. It had nothing do with the fact the slow cooker still has pork fat in and would have needed to be scrubbed.
After your suggestion I checked the cupboard and I have a packet mix (I know - but it's worth a try) for Bombay Pots that I'd been meaning to use, so that'll see off a few more of the spuds tomorrow.
-
Pork kebabs I got at the Co-op on a reduced sticker. OH liked them, me … meh
Potato salad and a marinated green bean salad to go with them. All plot veg :)
-
Here it was a gammon steak with stir fry plot veg with a chilli sauce. The gammon was a bit too salty for my liking, though ::) Now I can't stop drinking, water not vino collapso
-
Last night was jacket potato with a lge salad and cold meats, pineapple and yoghurt :)
Tonight were going out for a chinese hubby wonts a change
-
There was a bit of sad lonely mince left, made pasta bake with it and I'll save the cottage pie for another day.
-
I couldn’t get curried potatoes out of my mind, so as it was a bit cooler tonight, we had potato and courgette curry with rice :)
-
We had curry left over from Thursday, so I browned some chopped up chicken with spices and then added the leftover curry to re-invent it as a new dish. Rice and a tomato and onion salad to go with it :)
-
I had coleslaw left over from yesterday so defrosted a HM Cornish pasty to go with it, plus a few other salad bits n pieces.
Ice cream and plot berries for pud :D
-
Finished off the cottage pie yesterday lunch time, not really enough for a meal and found myself nuking a rather bland and boring chicken balti from MS very late last night to due to a bad case of curry munchies. I think we all know who's fault that was. :nowink:
The oven need to go on later for some breaded chicken, carbs to be decided but as the oven will be on anyway I might bung some oven chips in
-
SWeet and sour chicken with pilua rice and baghette, tonight cottage pie and fresh veg, pud Apple turnover and yoghurt No ice cream i can not get it in freezer at the moment :(
-
Cold roast chicken ( we roasted it this morning whilst it was cooler) steamed new potatoes & salad for me, himself has just said he might have a chicken sandwich.
-
I have been living on sandwiches for dinner for about the last week. Varied, bread, flat bread, a roll and ham or cheese filling with loads of lettuce. scrummy in this heat.
-
Cooked a pork chop in apple juice in the slow-cooker, served with the first pick of Mennonite Purple Stripe beans (YUM!) and baby new potatoes HG Logan and Tayberries with ice cream for afters :D
-
Lamb grill steaks plus salads I made early today before work - couscous with plot fennel and green beans, plus Lebanese cabbage salad with plot cabbage.

-
Chicken stir-fry, easy and v quick, plus plot Tayberries & raspberries with squirty cream afterwards :)
-
Was going to be more of the cold roast chicken & salad but on looking in the fridge this morning I spied the rest of the fish pie from Sunday with freshly picked peas, plot carrots & french beans. Parsley sauce in the pie was plot grown too :)
-
Leftover salads and an Italian cold meat selection for me that I brought home from work. OH had quiche and salad earlier.
-
More of a he cold roast chicken with lyonnaise potatoes & salads
-
Best I could manage was beans on toast which I then lovingly drowned with tabasco in an attempt to deblandify it.
-
Turkey steak in breadcrumbs, with some sugar-snaps, baby new potatoes and some leftover coleslaw
-
Last night a large mixed salad with cold meats colslaw and pickles beetroot from the garden, pud banana and yoghurt.
Tonight turkey steak in bread crumbs few chips and bake beans :)

-
Rib ere steak with possibly wedges & more salad.
-
With the CBA fairy sat firmly on my shoulder, I had a packet of sweet chilli crisps and 2 Magnum ice creams
-
With the CBA fairy sat firmly on my shoulder, I had a packet of sweet chilli crisps and 2 Magnum ice creams
Oops :D
-
Not too motivated to cook here either, but I had a seafood pasta sauce in the freezer, so it was an easy tea.
Just a pan to defrost and heat the sauce, plus a pan to cook pasta, drain pasta, chuck in sauce, simmer 2 mins and eat :D
-
I have leftover mash and there's a c500 tub of beef stew (or at least that's what I think it is) in the freezer. Whatever I can find that's green in there as the veggie, I've been using a jar of sauerkraut as a substitute to get my cabbage fix and that's coming to an end now too. :(
-
Another ham sandwich. Haven't got any crisps !!!
-
Roast belly pork slices & potatoes, carrots, french beans, apple sauce & gravy & cabbage for me & stuffing for himself :) a proper dinner now it’s cooled down.
-
A lamb kebab in a crusty roll, with peas, coleslaw and chips.
Just a bit healthier than yesterday ;)
-
ahhh Fridays :) Where the only decision is mushy peas or baked beans
-
Mince & onion in gravy, new potatoes, carrots & cabbage, peas. Our littlest munchkin is coming for his first big sleepover ( he naps here the day we look after him). Hope he’s hungry, a couple of weeks ago we babysat for the 3 of them & I took dinner of very similar & he devoured it so fingers crossed :)
Probably yogurt & fruit for him for pud
-
mmm cabbage... :tongue2:
Chicken Kiev with something some sort of spuds (bored with mash and wedges) probably the 1/2 can of leftover beans as there not enough milk to make cauli/broc cheese.
-
So tied it's take away curry , been on my feet all day !!! :)
-
Chicken parmigiana, fresh pasta & tomato& pepper sauce with garlic bread. Hubby outdid himself :)
-
Onion, red pepper and small Tromba squash fried with sliced Cajun sausage. Mennonite beans on the side.
-
Fell asleep mid afternoon and ended up with an emergency microwave curry, couldn't face cooking. Plenty of real chicken in those ones from M&S but they're very bland. Trying again with the chicken tonight.
-
Chicken here later as well. Chicken breast on the bone with assorted roasted plot and greenhouse veg - courgettes, peppers and tomatoes will definitely feature and maybe some french beans.
I might try the Co-op down the road for some crusty bread, as it is the sort of meal where you need bread to mop up the juices on your plate. If they fail me, it will be couscous as a bed for it all :tongue2:
-
Mince slice chips and peas, peach fruit flan with ice cream, got new freezer so i can now fill it :)
-
I'm having a pork chop a la George Forman with the last of the peas, plus runner beans and baby new potatoes.
-
Roast shoulder of lamb, freshly harvested Charlotte potatoes, roasted courgettes & peppers, carrots & yellow & green French beans, cabbage, gravy & mint & gooseberry jelly. Only the peppers out of the veg were bought :D
-
Back to pasta as the carb tonight, it's about now I'm regretting not bothering growing any toms or peppers this year as some sort of tomato based sauce will have to go with it.
-
More of the lamb some way or other, I did cook the remains on the bone for 2 hours on low in the slow cooker after dinner last night as it wasn’t the most tender piece. Might be a hot pot tonight as it was a tad chilly first thing but it has warmed up so dunno really
-
Pork pie and salad with lots of things from the garden, fruit flan for pud :)
-
I've put the slow cooker on with more stuff for Bombay spuds as I still have really bad curry munchies
edit : Pleasantly surprised. I don't think I've ever said anything nice about a packet mix before, but that "Schwartz Bombay Potatoes" mix isn't actually too bad (needs a bit more heat but then everything does). Worth keeping in the store cupboard to quieten down the curry monster when doing things properly is just too much effort.
-

Now you’ve done it - I wasn’t even thinking about curry until I read that :tongue2:
Only just back from work so too late tonight and OH has already eaten, but tomorrow ….
-
Now you’ve done it - I wasn’t even thinking about curry until I read that :tongue2:
Who are you trying to fool ? You're as bad, if not worse than I am
I have a small portion of leftovers for today, which may or may not make it past lunchtime.
-
sausages and veg from garden new pots, pineapple and ice cream :D
-
Duck breasts in plum sauce from M&S, bought it on holiday, but when struck down with covid neither of us fancied it so brought it home & stuck it in the freezer. Baby roastie potatoes ala lyonnaise, freshly harvested carrots, green & yellow french beans & for me cabbage.
-
Lamb kofta with mixed veg salad and baby new potatoes
-
Huge shock I know but it was chicken curry with a fair few plot courgettes sneaked into it :)
-
Cajun cicken with pilua rice, rest of pineapple and yoghurt :)
-
A fried black pudding sandwich and packet of dark chocolate digestives
Yes I feel sick as a pig. :nowink:
-
Cajun chicken with coleslaw and the usual salad bits.
-
Cornish pasty with the usual Friday oven chips, mushies and I think normal peas and corn rather than beans tonight.
-
Long red Ramiro peppers just arrived with my Trashco delivery, I ordered them because I had a yearning for some peppers stuffed with Feta and veggie rice : 8)
-
Long red Ramiro peppers just arrived with my Trashco delivery, I ordered them because I had a yearning for some peppers stuffed with Feta and veggie rice : 8)
I just picked some long peppers from the greenhouse so might just nick that one for tomorrow ;)
-
1 rib eye steak between us lol, it was largish, some form of spuds, just harvested enough salad leaves if I should want them or more french beans. Suppose I could make a bean salad if I was so inclined :)
-
We have chilli tonight but it might be to hot to have it tonight
-
I've got a gammon steak to use up, and I just picked a small Tromba, so.....
Maybe fry them up together, with onions, peppers and peas.
-
Pasta and pesto. Wasn't really in the mood for food and doing anything else felt like it would be a waste.
-
scotch egg and salad that needs eating up, i did make a blackberry and apple pie :D
-
I put some chicken drumsticks in the slow cooker with the ingredients for a sticky barbecue sauce, this morning. I'm cooking HG runners and peas to go with them.
-
Had to cook some rather grey looking mince but couldn't decide what to make with its so did the other chicken kiev instead with a little bit of mash and the ubiquitous half can of beans.
-
Soddages glazed with a 50/50 gooseberry jam and balsamic vinegar mix plus veggie rice with tomatoes from the greenhouse and onion, french beans and greens from the plot.
-
Home made cornish pasties new pots and fresh runner beans from garden, rest of blackberry and apple pie, we've just been blackberry picking got 2 ice cream tubs full, ready for freezer. :D
-
Well ftf I’ve taken out roast beef & a tub of beef stock, but it’s too hot now for a hotpot. I fancy seeing if I can make a stroganoff from it ???
-
been blackberry picking got 2 ice cream tubs full, ready for freezer. :D
Is it me or are they very early this year?
For tea, I have some left over chicken drumsticks, thinking of cooking spicy veggie rice to go with them, plus a fridge-gravel salad. I need to buy some more now, really :D
-

I picked loads of beautiful blackberries last week from the back of my plot. Like you, I'm sure they're earlier than usual, but the quality is great. In the freezer ready to mix with the apples from the Bramley tree to make blackberry and apple crumbles.
-

So do i, yes they are early my new freezer will be filled with fruit :D
-
jaydig: In the freezer ready to mix with the apples from the Bramley tree to make blackberry and apple crumbles.
YUM :D
-
Well ftf I’ve taken out roast beef & a tub of beef stock, but it’s too hot now for a hotpot. I fancy seeing if I can make a stroganoff from it ???
Yes I can  was quite good I adapted a Pinch on Nom recipe, served with fresh pasta & french beans
-
Weather (and tiny spud peeling energy) dependent, either chilli in the slow cooker or cottage pie, cabbage and spoonstanding.
-
I think it's a mince n tatties day, with greens and beans from the plot.
-
Bacon steak with H/G tomatoes chips and peas , banana ice cream squart of choc sauce and nuts :D
-
Egg fried rice with brown rice, stir-fry veg and some leftover chicken.
-
Spicy fish cake with vegetable rice, slice of fresh pineapple :D
-
Left over chicken ftf, with traybake veg - squash, onions, peppers and tomatoes.
-
Finally had some spuds bigger than an egg delivered. Nuked one and finished off the rest of the mince with beans and cheese.
-
Something refer to as a coronation chicken flattie probably some sort of spicy veggie rice with it. I'm not entirely sure a veggie standard serving will sit well with it but I'm starting to feel guilty about not eating anything green.
-
I've got allotment squash and sweetcorn, just have to delve in the freezer, to see what I can have with those. It's crammed at the mo, so plenty to choose from
-
Jacket potato mixed salad and cold meat or cheese, last piece of fresh pineapple might buy another one tomorrow it was so sweet :D
-
I keep buying those mixed offer deals at work (all these for £5 type things), but we’ve eaten all the stuff I actually wanted, so tonight was a use up the leftovers to clear freezer space project.
Chicken grill steaks, Alphabites and mixed veg were duly served. OH looked a bit quizzical but I pretended I didn’t know what he was on about and he ate it. There was Viennetta for pud and that cheered him up no end
-
Change of plan last night as I developed a serious case of the CBA's and ended up nuking another one of those veggie casserole with dumplings. I now have chicken and pizza with the use by date of today, chicken tonight and pizza tomorrow I think.
-
I'm made a huge bowl of coleslaw and I've got corn on the cob. I'll cook my fave fish in lemon & Pepper breadcrumbs and I've got new supplies of the usual salad stuff, if the plate needs filling up :D
-
Baked Bass with chips and peas, raspberries from garden with yoghurt :)
-
Won't be buying that chicken again - just chicken breast hammered flat and marinated in synthetic curry sauce, may have been better on a bbq but I doubt it.
Pizza tonight - Can't see how that could possibly go wrong, it's just a hot cheese and tomato sandwich after all ::)
-
Won't be buying that chicken again - just chicken breast hammered flat and marinated in synthetic curry sauce
But you make it sound so appetising :nowink: I take it that was the coronation chicken flattie then?
I also made a big bowl of coleslaw last night, with plot cabbage and onion. We had chicken breast cooked on the bone and some oven chips with it.
-
I had a stir-fry yesterday with pork strips and the usual veg and sweet chilli sauce'
Today, I've got lamb defrosting for kebabs, probably a few chips and salad with them.
-
Sorry NS perhaps the M&S's description would be better, even if it happens to be hogwash :nowink:
Tender chicken escalopes in a mango marinade with a sachet of curried spiced sweet sauce. Pan-fry or grill for 8 to 12 minutes and drizzle the sauce over the Flatties
.. and don't get me started on last nights pizza, "vegan friendly" cheese  :nowink: :nowink: I'm really going to have to pay more attention to what I'm buying.
Sawhedge, mash and cabbage tonight even if it's completely the wrong weather for it.
-
We’ve got lamb steaks tonight, I’m sure there’ll be french beans with them, but I’m hankering after something spicy & fruity with them but himself will just want potatoes.
Now for lunch yesterday I had a lovely Thai Masserman(?) beef curry & a pork spring roll at a local feast festival that hit the spot beautifully
-
We also had stir fry but chicken bits left over last night,
Tonight we have roast chicken with the usual trimmings fresh veg from garden followed by Blackberry and apple crumble with ice cream or yoghurt
-
I discovered some giant cucumbers on the plot yesterday that had evaded detection and were hiding under the leaves. They must have learned that trick from the courgettes
Anyway, peeled and de-seeded them and sprinkled with salt to get rid of excess water. Lightly squeezed out they made a good stir-fry. It was pork loin steak cut into strips and cooked with preserved black beans in chilli oil and some noodles to go with them :)
-
I'm trying to avoid nuking the last emergency curry I have in the freezer but the call of the curry is compelling :nowink: If I can resist it will be sawhednge and mash again.
-
I’m not going to help. We have curry tonight. I made the base yesterday morning before things heated up too much, so just got to fry some chicken and add the sauce to cook it through.
I have stashed a tub of curry base in the freezer for emergency use later ;)
-
Lamb Kofta in pitta bread with chunky salad and chilli mayo.
I just happen to have some Greek vino-collapso to go with it 8) What a surprise ::)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rAk_dZQP48 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rAk_dZQP48)
-
tuna bake that was a change, rest of apple and blackberry crunble with yoghurt :)
-
Finishing the sawhedges off, more mash as mid-week chips doesn't feel right.
-
Meatballs and penne pasta and HM tom sauce, salad on the side :)
-
Odds and sods that needed eating up mainly salad things, banana and ice cream :)
-
Chicken keiv and spicy veg rice. I should really also make an effort to do a large cauli/broc cheese for the next few days.
-
Turkey steak in bread crumbs chips and bake beans i really should have done myself a salad with it oh well never mind, pud raspberrys and melon :D
-
Mrs Pea, that's exactly what we've just had for pud. Ran out of ice cream, much to hubby's disgust, so the usual banana split is off the menu, but I had a few raspberries from the plot this morning and I'd already got a melon, so we were sorted.
-
CBA fairy was trying her best, but I told her to beggar off for long enough to put oven chips in the small top oven, and will fry an egg and warm some beans to go with them ::)
-
Prawn pasta sauce thingy we sell at work. You heat it from frozen and dump almost cooked pasta in it to soak the sauce up. Not at all bad, but not many prawns. It flavoured the pasta well and took no time or effort so Ok by me :)
-
I have veggie rice left, the plan is to stare aimlessly into the fridge hoping something will suggest itself to go with it, then give up and just eat the rice. ::)
-

You need to kick that CBA fairy out, before she takes up permanent residence :nowink:
-

Perhaps stir fried courgette and a few other veggies? Not that you're probably sick of courgettes. At this time of the year they go into anything and everything.
-
Fried courgette Horrable things they make me sick as well as mushrooms.
tonight once again salad we'll look like a letteuce leaf soon, with a beef burger may be in a bun or on it's own
just been to top up on ice cream Tesco was bare of any ice creams good old icelands had some and cheaper
-
Burgers here as well, but made a big bowl of potato salad with plot spuds and another big bowl of coleslaw with plot cabbage to go with ours.
That’s my survival technique for a run of hot days. Make huge salads and then dip into them, just adding 1 quick cook item, maximum 1 pan rule
-
I've got pork strips defrosting, so a stir-fry is on the cards, think I'll give the rice a miss, just cook a huge panful of plot veggies :D
-
Thought I would share this as it is a tasty, healthy and money saving idea :D
I had a punnet of normal white mushrooms that needed using up, so chopped them up fine and mixed them into the mince for the burgers, together with an egg and the usual seasoning.
The mushrooms bulked out the mince so it went much further, they stopped the burgers going dry while they cooked right through and they still tasted like good meaty burgers. There was a bit of water that came out when they were cooking, but it soon dried out and they browned as usual. OH was fooled, wolfed them and said how great they were. All in all a win :)
-
No homegrown anything this year to get sick of :( The CBA fairy has most certainly outstayed her welcome though.
The meal plan calls for oven chips, but there's no way I'm going to put the oven on this evening. I'll be nuking a spud. It would be nice to make a chilli to put in it but I have a busy day of doing nothing planned.
-
Chilli going in the slow cooker this morning, the bit of rice that's left will do, I can always nuke another spud if needed.
-
Bought quiche plus homemade salads and chutney. No cook day :)
-
Pork with barbecue sauce, leftover from yesterday, with sweetcorn, peas and baby new potatoes.
-
There's leftover chilli that will probably find it's way into a nuked spud.
-
Apparently, it's Chinese style chicken mince. The spice mix is very strong smelling, I hope it mellows out a bit when added to the mince. It's served with lettuce and we have some new potatoes left over from last night.
-
WEt mince and new pots and runner beans and peas, raspberry trifle for pud :)
-
Cold chicken, salad and crusty bread.
-
Sausages on their use by date ::) with spicy fried squash, onions and tomatoes, with leftover peas and boiled new potatoes from yesterday.
-
Cancelled yesterdays plans, it was just too hot and made do with a sandwich. Chilli and a spud back on the menu for tonight.
-
Scotch egg and salad tonight , raspberry trifle :)
-
I've got some defrosted mince, and just brought home sweetcorn, a few beans and a huge cabbage (donated) from the plot.
I think I'll bung the mince and some of each veg into the wok add some spices and that'll be my effort for the day.....

-
Half the allotment stir fry here as well - shredded cabbage, cucumber, spring onions and peppers from the greenhouse with pork strips. Had rice with it :)
-
Fish cakes with vegetable rice, fresh pinapple for pud :)
-
I've been saving an M&S steak pie for when it was more sensible to put the oven on ... Mash and cabbage to accompany :tongue2: It's family sized so hopefully I can get a couple of days meals out of
-
Leftover pie and mash. Family size is a bit optimistic and it's somewhat light on meat but it's not bad for a supermarket own brand effort.
-
As it's a coolish day I'm going for HM beef pasty ftf with cabbage, peas and mash.
-
Chicken thighs defrosted and himself has decided a stew is the order of the day.
-
Spaghette Bolangnase with whole wheat pasta, fruit yoghurt for pud :)
-
Meatball lasagne and tender stem broccoli. Not the most elegant of lasagnes I have ever created, as it had lumps and bumps over the surface, but pretty good tasting :D
Snaffled 2 reduced family sized steak pies from the Co-op this morning and they are in the freezer, so pie night here soon ;) Tomorrow the curry munchies are being appeased
-
Sausages with mash and runner beans f/g peas , raspberries from garden with ice cream :D
-
Cajun spiced chicken breast with coleslaw, salad bits and baby new potatoes :)
-
Friday :nowink: Chunky fish fingers a few oven chips and I think beans tonight. I also want to use up the snasbods onion rings (not nice) and the mushies if they aren't furry.
-
I fried a fresh piece of plaice it was lovely just a few chips as i'd already been out for lunch so i wasn't that hungry :)
-
The last ready meal curry as I have a serious case of CBA today.
-
stuffed pepper home grown :)inside there is sausage mushrooms, home grown fresh toms and a few herbs with salad :(.ice cream to follow :D
-
Cheaty chicken and chips. Got some ready cooked chicken to heat up (work freebie) and oven chips. Also going to bung some sweetcorn in the oven and serve the lot with bread and butter pickles that I made on Thursday with homegrown cucumber and onions.
I still haven’t got around to curry night yet as my plans were disrupted for Thursday, so that might be tomorrow now I have reminded of it :)
-
Homemade Chilli with pilua rice and 1/2 a baghette :)
-
Salad, new potatoes and mackerall for me as I've been told to eat more oily fish. Paul has some spicy chicken that needs grilling.
-
Spicy beanburger salad and oven chips for me :)
-
Nuked a spud, with coleslaw yesterday.
Tonight is supposed to be spag bol but it may well end up as chilli.
edit : Change of weather, change of plans. Mince, mash and cabbage covered in spoonstanding.
-
Baked chicken breast ' might make it spicy ' chips peas and a fresh baked sweetcorn, rest of Raspberry and apple pie ice cream silly me forgot the yoghurt this morning
-
Pork sausages, with onions, freshly dug Nicola potatoes and a few runners (that's all there were :()
-
Pasta bake here.
I made a huge batch of spag sauce over the weekend, mostly to spirit many courgettes away, to stop them putting the fear of god into OH every time he went into the kitchen. That made a good base and some pasta and cheese sealed the deal :)
-
Good old fry up, 2 sausages 2 bacon 2 tomatoes 1 fried egg bake beans and a slice of toast for the egg to sit on. Banana yoghurt i remembered today choc sauce and nuts :D went down a treat
-
For some reason I had frozen a whole 1/2kg pack of mince, instead of in individual portions, so I cooked it all with onion and tomatoes, peppers and garlic. I had some with fried potatoes, Tromba squash and some sweetcorn. All homegrown veg
It's not often that happens :)
-
I'd bought some bone in and skin on chicken thighs for somethings specific, but for the life of me I can't remember what it was. Boned a couple and put them in the oven with garlic and ginger and some mushies, served with veggie rice. Put the rest of them in the slow cooker with casserole veg as they were on the used by - felt like such a waste.
-
I had a jacket potatoe filled with tuna and a mixed salad, pineapple and yoghurt :)
-
I warmed up some of the mince and added chilli and beans and served it over rice with sweetcorn and salad bits on the side :D
The rest of the mince is now in the freezer - enough is enough
-
I put some of the chicken casserole with mash. It was a nice change, I honestly can't remember the last time I made a chicken casserole. I've left a portion out for tomorrow but 2 days in a row will be enough and the rest is off to the freezer.
-
We had pie (shop bought), oven chips and veg last night as we were running late and both of us were tired.
Tonight is going to be chicken and a brown rice pilaf. I’ve got greenhouse peppers and probably other veg lurking that could do with using up. I’ll put some spices on the chicken and probably in the rice as well :)
-
Chicken stirfry and a fruit yoghurt for pud :)
-
CBA fairy here, so Potato and Leek soup from a can, with a crusty roll
-
Just went to get my fresh fish today it cost me a fortune
Just had a piece tonight it was lovely Bass fillet few chips and peas , raspberries from garden with ice cream .
:D
-
Sardines with chilli and coriander stirred into linguine and salad bowl on the side.
I also made an apple upside down cake with windfalls, for pud :)
-
Sardines with chilli and coriander stirred into linguine and salad bowl on the side.
I also made an apple upside down cake with windfalls, for pud :)
Thats sounds good for a pud :D
-
We have home made curry tonight with pilua rice, popadoms and spicy chitney :)
-
Pork belly slices with Barbecue sauce, HM coleslaw and chips.
-
Chicken and bacon pasta, but in a tomato base as I am not a fan of creamy pasta sauces.
Obligatory plot courgette, plus some green house peppers to add to it as well.
-
Cottage pie and fresh veg from garden, i made a Raspberry flan with yoghurt, i've never had so many, i picked another bowl full this morning. Lots have gone in the freezer for winter :)
-
Mince and onion slice with new pots and fresh veg from garden, rest of raspberry tart and more yoghurt :)
-
The last of the M&S veggie casserole with dumplings, I now remember that's what I bought the chicken thighs for :nowink: Pork chop out defrosting for tomorrow as I feel the need for some real food.
-
Make do dinner tonight ham egg and chips maybe bake beans , pud i haven't decided
-
Lamb hotpot again ….. I cooked the last shoulder of lamb on Sunday along with the breast & what turned out to be 4 lumps of neck of lamb to clear it up & we’ve got a huge 3 & 1/2 lbs of lamb for assorted dinners from it plus a vat of slow cooked lamb stock. So cottage pies & hot pot might be the order of the day for a few weeks.
Any other suggestions gratefully received :)
-
Any other suggestions gratefully received :)
I see no curry on your list
-
I had ham, all the usual salad stuff plus some chips, the chilli mayo really livened things up :D
-
Spag bol tonight with whole wheat pasta , a few victoria plums from our tree not many this year as we had such a bumper crop last year, any way i stewed them up and had yoghurt with them :)
-
Gammon steak, fried onions, cabbage, peas and mash.
-
Egg and spinach curry with rice. The spinach was actually plot chard, so it made it a bit more substantial :)
-

Lol trust you Lards, I did think a good lamb curry might scratch the itch, cept himself can’t tolerate curry these days so I tend to have veggie ones, but a lamb rogan josh could be good?
-
Lamb stew tonight cos ‘we’ forgot to get anything out & the lamb still needed dealing with…10 portions now in the freezer & 3 x 2 portions eaten, so that worked out well.
-
Lol trust you Lards, I did think a good lamb curry might scratch the itch, cept himself can’t tolerate curry these days so I tend to have veggie ones, but a lamb rogan josh could be good?
Is it the heat or spice himself can't take ? There's always lamb passanda for a more gentle meal ( but a rogan josh sounds good to me :tongue2: )
I finished the other pork chop tonight with some mushies, I also cheated with a bag of microwave Mexican rice, zero effort required.
-
Hot and spicy chicken strips with vegetable rice, Raspberry yoghurt :D
-
I made bread today, and saved some dough for a pizza tonight :D
-
Smoked haddock risotto topped with a poached egg
-
Roast pork with a tray bake of plot spuds, beetroots and some bought carrots.
Also had the last of the plot sweetcorn.
-
Void of inspiration tonight so I used the last can of tuna in a pasta bake. At least tomorrow is Friday and a no-brainer.
-
Just had a lovely dinner Baked Sea Bass with spicy bread crumbs few chips and peas, pineapple and ice cream :)
-
I've taken out what I hope is beef mince to do a cottage pie and finish off the cabbage.
-
I've some bacon to use up, probably do something with it and some pasta ::)
-
H/M Chilli con carne with pilua rice and 1/2 a baghette NO pud tonight :)
-
Fish, chips& mushy peas, peas from a tin, hm oven chips & fish baked in the oven…so all healthy
Not sure on pud, mos5 likely fruit & yogurt for me & a ice cream on a stick for him (forgot the name of them lol)
-
Twongos had some Greek flatbreads on offer, so I'm having an Athenian Pizza with Pepperoni, Mozarella etc'., plus a huge Shirley...
(The tom, not the gorgeous lady three doors down)
;0)
-
Stir-fry with some of the leftover roast pork from Thursday night and rice.
-
Pork chop with all the trimmings, raspberry and apple crumble yoghurt or ice cream
-
Meatballs ftf with pasta leftovers from yesterday, salad bowl on the side.
-
Also leftovers - carrots going with it today as I didn't really leave enough cabbage for a sensible serving yesterday.
-
Spag bol as we seem to have a lot of mince in the freezer. Fridge scrapings to bulk it out. Found a burger that had been there hiding at the back for at least two weeks. But, panic, we have no cheese, emergency dash to Tesco at the top of the road to get a pack.
-
Veggie curry last night. It was potato, cauliflower and dhal.
Tonight is pasta bake. The sauce is pre-made out of the freezer, so easy fix :)
-
Veggie curry last night....
Tonight is pasta....
In reverse order here
I'm using up some leftover lamb ftf so it'll be Keema and cauliflower rice for me :)
-
quick and easy one tonight as i'm out for the evening doing ' Horticultral Club'
Pork pie and salad , pud either pineapple or rest of crumble :)
-
Leftover roast chicken & gravy here, could be mash, roasties or just steamed spuds & veg.
-
I've just put spag bol in the slow cooker but there's also still some mince and mash left from the weekend which needs to be used, just not sure I can face another cottage pie.
-

Simples, make a cottage pue& put it in the freezer for the cba fairydays
Today here it’s a lamb hotpot, although now we’re sat in glorious sunshine so doesn’t seem quite as appealing
-
I had decided to do a sausage traybake, but forgot to get the sausages out in time - so I'm having a m/waved hm Cornish pasty ftf with peas and mash instead.
The sausages have gone in the fridge for tomorrow :D
-
I took sausages out for tomorrow 'Toad in the hole' tonight turkey burger chips and bake beans rest of crumble with rest of ice cream, Thank goodness i've been shopping this afternoon. :D
-
Simples, make a cottage pue& put it in the freezer for the cba fairydays
That's exactly what I said to the dog whilst microwaving it. The mince had already been frozen twice, once raw and once cooked. The rule of thumb I was told (so as not to end up poisoning myself) was not to freeze something twice without changing its state, Im not sure how true this is, but given I've been a bit sub par lately I thought best not to risk it.
The spag bol was supposed to have been made over the weekend, portioned and frozen along with a batch of chilli and some jerk chicken I found a recipe for that looked tasty so there would be plenty for the CBA fairyday food- but things are not going as planned ::)
-
Slow cooked pulled pork :D
-
Last night was roast chicken potatoes and veg. Tonight is left over chicken and chips.
-
Leftover veggie curry.
-
Chilli yesterday, served with plain rice, 3 other portions off to the freezer. Along with the chicken which was on it's use by, that gives me 6 portions of cba fairyday food.
Mac and cheese tonight, might dump and tin of tuna in it to break up the carb fest.
-
1 large chicken breast between us, no idea what we’re doing with it, no inspiration today
-
posh shop burger in a bun and salad bits, banana ice cream choc sauce and nuts :)
-
Chicken breast in spicy breadcrumbs with salad and boiled baby potatoes - plus a good squirt of mayo :D
-
No fish to go with the Friday chips, there is however a Cornish pasty. Probably put some mushies with it or a few beans.
-
Grilled bream with salad and chips.
-
Not sure whether it's bass or bream i brought both  oh well i dont mind i like either chips and peas
rest of left over fruit pineapple and raspberries ::)
-
Spicy sweet and sour chicken with pilua rice and baghette :)
-
I've got seedy bread dough rising and in the slow cooker there's a load of fresh and dried vegetables, for a nice thick soup. Not sure whether to spice it up, or leave it fairly plain...
-

Wish i'd done that but spent the day in the garden as it was fine :D
-
Bitza pie
I defrosted the freezer the other day and found a few odds and ends, so thick veg and tomato base with chopped cooked cold meat, plus a mash top with cheese in it. It looks and smells very nice cooking for an assembly of bits :)
-
Two huge slow cookers full of 'Dublin Coddle'm which my husband loves. He's just had some for his tea and there's another ten portions waiting to cool and go into the freezer, ready for those CBA days. Fortunately he doesn't mind veggie sausages, so I can make it with those and then I can have some too.
-
Steak, hm croquette potatoes, fried egg for himself, mushroom sauce for me, steamed runner beans & sliced fresh tomatoes.
-
Beans on toast.
-
Thought I should eat something green today - so the last of the cabbage some spuds and a little bit of what I think was stewing steak I'd frozen for a pie.
-
I've got seedy bread dough rising and in the slow cooker there's a load of fresh and dried vegetables, for a nice thick soup.
More of the same, today, then put the last of it in the freezer :)
-
We have roast leg of lamb. I found it in my freezer defrost and it is best before the beginning of October, so we can eat that up now over several days.
I think I bought it for Easter, then got waylaid and never cooked it. I’ve seen it in the freezer of course, but hadn’t really registered how long it had been kicking about ::)
-
Nothing as exciting as a leg of lamb here, I had soddages fried with onions, plus peas, carrots and mash with spoon-standing, of course.
-
Nothing as exciting as sawhedges. ::) Pasta and chilli pepper pesto.
-
Last night was caramelised onion quiche from Pinch of Nom website, with chips & salad tonight
Tonight it was supposed to be slow cooked shin beef but as I didn’t take it out of the freezer & it’s a little over 1kg that won’t defrost & cook so I think we better go with sausages & Yorkshire puds, mash, green beans…no surprise there I’m inundated with them lol & a nice onion gravy.
Scrap the sausages & mash we were late back home so went out
Himself had steak & ale pie with chips of course & I had chicken tikka, rice, naan & poppudum
-
M/S Mac cheese tonight something simple, the end of fruit flan with ice cream :)
-
Mince, onions, peppers and peas in a curry sauce with a spoonful of mash left from yesterday.
-
Made pizza dough but don't feel like pizza anymore ::) Time to stare into the fridge and await divine inspiration.
-
Beef stew, mashed potatoes and green beans. The weather today requires comfort food.
-
I should make a pizza, might do a deep pan cheesy garlic bread though but that really would need a salad or something to go with it.
-
small steak pie, runner beans, carrots and mash.
-
Baked chicken strips then BQ sauce poured over back in the oven and served with pilua rice, NO pud got some crumpets to finish up later :D
-
We had soddages last night with plot spuds and broad beans. Tonight back to the cooked lamb and we’ve got a spicy stew with chunks of it in. I’ll serve it over rice.
The rest has been chunked and put in the freezer for another day.
-

-
Sausage casserole with mash and peas , pineapple and ice cream :)

-
Leftover pizza.
-

-
Veggie burger, peas and coleslaw.
-
Tuna pasta bake when I drag myself into the kitchen to do it.
-
I've been Passata bottling this afternoon, so making a small Penne Bolognese with the bit left after filling as many jars as I could. Small bowl of salad bits to go with it.
-
Found a 1/4 lb burger in the freezer, so with springs, toms, gherks etc, it'll fill a gap left from the Ploughman's we had at lunchtime...
Then an hour with 'Hustle' on DVD - fourth series!
-
Pasta night here as well.
I’ve been pulling netting off an old fruit cage with a view to giving it a full weed out and a re-cover, plus shifting mulch around on the plot, so a fast and easy fix of a seafood pasta mix and some spag.
-
Shopping delivered yesterday, nice bit of lambs liver but no cabbage :( Have to make do with some carrots. Mash and onion gravy as always.
-
As it's coldish again today, I'm gonna try a boil in the bag lamb-shank I got from 'the usual' frozen food shop.
Cabbage, carrots and mash with it. Looks as if there's enough gravy in the bag so I won't have to make any.
-

I think I bought it for Easter, then got waylaid and never cooked it. I’ve seen it in the freezer of course, but hadn’t really registered how long it had been kicking about ::)
In my freezer it would probably been there a couple of years. Any food frozen or not, if it looks ok and smells ok, I eat it, Mrs Bouquet.
-
I do as well Mrs B, but it seemed a waste to spend out on a joint like that and let it go past its date.
It was a best before as is the case with most frozen meat, so it would be safe to eat for a while longer, but the quality deteriorates over time :)
-
Homemade mince meat pasties new pots and a few veg from garden, Blackberry and Apple sponge left over from weekend with yoghurt :D
-
Roast chicken and all the trimmings. Pear and ginger crumble with vustard.
-
As I've been comfort eating scones and apple butter all day, think I'll just have a tin of chicken soup for tea :nowink:
-

What scones did you bake mum ??

What scones did you bake mum ??
Just quick plain scones - couldn't find any sultanas. I know they're in the cupboard somewhere, but no, they were hiding ::)

thank you for that, i made some ' Oaty saltanas biscuits '
-
Leftovers - reheated liver is never as nice though, especially as I always seem to leave a tubie bit for the last bite. ::)
-
Meatballs and veg in gravy, plus mash :)
-
The plan was for spicy chicken and rice but the weather is suggesting that mash, veg and gravy would be more sensible. I wouldn't say no to a chicken a mushroom pie either :nowink:
-
My plan was for chicken & ham pie, but the piece of ham I cooked on Sunday for last nights dinner wasn’t the best so I’ve just taken out the chicken breasts & might have that in a sauce of some description. Mind you as I’ve not been well for a few weeks with a horrendous cough it could be just a slice of toast & icecream or anything else I fancy lol
-
Hope you feel better soon snowdrops.
Tea will be a sausage traybake - sausages are defrosting and I've got peppers and tomatoes to use up, as they're looking a bit wrinkly, and half a butternut :nowink:
-

Thanks Lesley, I’m thoroughly fed up of it now, I really want to get back to “normal” there’s jobs stacking up
-
Mind you as I’ve not been well for a few weeks with a horrendous cough...
Have you had that checked out ? There are number of things which manifest early as a persistent cough. Go and get and MOT before you end up NFG and BER like me ;)
-

Thanks Lards, I went emergency Drs on Friday & got antibiotics for 5 days for chest infection, had hoped to feel better yesterday. Today is a bit better, I’ve managed a walk to chickens then hubby took me to our ‘local’ Bradgate park & we had a gentle stroll along which was lovely but rather tired now.
-
I have left over mash and veg, probably just end up roasting the rest of the thighs. They need livening up a bit though, yesterdays were as dull as dishwater.
-
posh breaded turkey burgers few chips beans for him salad for me , not sure about pud :)
-
Pasta bake with the last portion of spag bol sauce from the freezer. Must make some more. I feel underprepared without it in reserve somewhere
-
Here it was chicken drumsticks in Barbecue sauce with hash browns and runner beans.
I made an apple pie from windfalls and ate rather too much of it ::)
-
Leftovers of last nights chicken tray bake as a chicken hotpot, followed by banana & custard
-
I made an apple pie from windfalls and ate rather too much of it ::)
I’m going to beat Lardman to it … pie mmmmmm … homemade apple pie … double mmmmmmmmm
-
I’m going to beat Lardman to it … pie mmmmmm … homemade apple pie … double mmmmmmmmm
Better late than never - mmmmm pie.
MoS already knows apple is my favourite, I really should see if there are any in the garden, I've not been out there since spring, I hate to think what a state it's in.
Back to pasta tonight though, I put the chicken leftovers in the slow cooker with tomatoes, peppers and mushrooms last night, it'll pass as a sauce.
-
Cod & something , devoid of inspiration here
-
I've got some Co op bacon that seems very salty so I'm going to chop it up and hide it some spaghetti. I'm hoping the addition of some peas will also help make it taste less salty, if that makes sense? Picked the last cucumber, a few spring onions and toms for a side salad :)
-
Cod & something , devoid of inspiration here
Well after a trip to the plot we decided on cod Portuguese with a fresh tomato sauce, French beans & mash

-
I had sea bass fillet with parsley sauce, mashed potatoes, peas and a few runner beans.
With a handful of chocolate buttons and walnuts afterwards.
-
I need to finish off the last of the chicken and peppers The jury is out on whether I'll add pasta again or curry spices and make some rice.
-
I have a beef and veg curry in the slow cooker, bought some mini Co op coriander naans to go with it, plus some salad bits & HM chutney

Serious case of CBA today. I have a pasty in the freezer, that's CBA food.
-
quick meal sausages chips and b/beans, rest of pineapple and ice cream, got painter in :)
-
I was going to make a batch of Cornish pasties, but didn't feel up to making the pastry ::)
So pan cooked a portion of filling and some runner beans separately. Obviously not the same but wasn't too bad ....
-
...but didn't feel up to making the pastry ::)
I keep meaning to try this when when I get like that. Youtube link (https://youtu.be/Vxs7gQuZDH0?t=169)I've only used hot water crust with 100% lard to make proper pork pies.
I've still got the CBA's despite having all day to make something I ended up nuking an emergency chilli and a some nasty off brand microwave rice.
-
Some thing really different were going out for a Chinese tonight we just fancied it :)
-
Mince and onions with mixed veggies. Not sure if I'll do mash or just boil the spuds but there will be spoondstanding either way.
Edit : Also just had a walk up the garden to get some apples so there might well be a crumble for afters :tongue2:
-
Edit : Also just had a walk up the garden to get some apples so there might well be a crumble for afters :tongue2:
So did I, so it's blackberry & apple crumble here :) after some of yesterday's leftovers.
-
Sir has requested toad in the hole, I've made the batter but it should be interesting as the sausages are pork and apple flavoured rather than plain ones.
-
Just finished a run of days at job no.2 which means a snack meal when I get in.
Today was a real tea though of roasted cauliflower dhal, spicy brown rice pilaf with veg and lassi yogurt drink :)
-
My dahl always tastes like lentils in spicy dish water ::)
Change of plan yesterday and I made 2 small mince beef and mushroom steamed puddings with suet pastry instead. The filling was a bit dry but for a first attempt it came out surprisingly well and was hassle free in the slow cooker. I was supposed to leave the second one for dinner today but errrmmm - well I ate it. :tongue2:
Tonight will have to be mince and mash I was supposed to do yesterday.
-
Saghetti bol tonight as i'm out again for the day, gone right off chinese it's so sweet so wont be going there again. :)

HM vegetable soup with seedy rolls if they decide to rise (not that warm today) flat breads if they don't ::)
-
Sausage hotpot here which is just as well as I’m frozen ???
-
My dahl always tastes like lentils in spicy dish water ::)
3 options :
Mash some of the lentils - about half so you have some with bite and the rest as a sauce. I just get the potato masher out and get in there.
Too much effort? Chuck some lentils in that will dissolve into a sauce while the more chunky ones cook through. Split and peeled mung dhal is good for that, but split red lentils will do the same
Too much effort? This one will probably make you cringe but a tablespoon of Mayflower curry sauce powder will thicken any curry or dhal. It is Chinese style curry so not authentic in any way, but won’t do anything too awful to the flavour. It is a lot nicer than lentils in spicy dish water at any rate
-
3 options :
You missed for 4th option : admit defeat and buy M&S tarka dahl when it's on offer or the spice Tailor one which is much better. :nowink: I will try again though as I'd like to get it sorted for use as a frozen CBA lunch.
There's a little bit of mince left which may find it's way into a pie for tonight as for some reason I have a hankering for chips ::)
-
Slow cooked shin beef, suppose it needs to be mash & vegetables but as himself is chief nurse cook & bottle washer this weekend not sure what we might end up with
-
Basa fillet with lemon/pepper crust, peas and CHIPS :D not to mention the Mayo :)
-
I also bass or bream dont remember fillet baked with chips and peas NO mayo we usual have pickled onions but i haven't got any, pud was a £1 pud i found in cupboard with yoghurt :)
-
OH wanted fish and chips. I was not so keen, so pinched a few of his chips and put them with some cold chicken and salad.
-
Spicy chicken traybake with the usual suspects. Greek Yoghurt, walnuts and honey for pud :)
-
I decided the time had come to actually cook a meal from scratch. Got a tray of skinned and boned chicken thighs, chopped e leek finely, ditto, garlic and red onion. Chucked it all in slow cooker/crock pot along with a Sch---z mix. Cooked it for 5 hours, and did potatoes in microwave instead of hob. It was only OK. Got more tonight, and have frozen the rest, so 3 meals, not bad I 'spose Do I sound excited :D Mrs Bouquet
-
H/M Cottage pie with peas , Blackberry and Apple pie with ice cream , all went down well :)
-
Cottage pie & spoon standing, runner beans & yellow French beans. Raspberry baked sponge & plain yogurt for me & custard for himself. He’s still cooking.

Tuna pasta bake. Despite doing a shocking amount of pasta it wasn't filling and I'm still hungry :(
-
Tuna pasta bake. Despite doing a shocking amount of pasta it wasn't filling and I'm still hungry :(
Protein reduces hunger, carbs increase it, so try adding more protein to your meals, then you can reduce those carb cravings. Honest :D
-
Thought I'd got the protein covered with the tin of tuna and sizeable wodge of cheddar  I put corn and peppers in but it was lacking anything which could really be called a veggie.
Chicken tonight - probably with spuds and mixed veg.
-
Can of tuna is only 28g protein, and you need at least 0.75g protein per Kg of body weight, so depends what else you ate in the day.
But - speaking from experience ::) the more the merrier if you don't want to feel hungry
(Eating more protein meant I lost weight without feeling hungry, so I can recommend it, even if you are happy with your weight *Wouldn't want to offend anyone, would I?* :nowink:)
I'm having gammon steak with the rest of the Cauliflower cheese and some runner beans from the garden.
-
Can of tuna is only 28g protein, and you need at least 0.75g protein per Kg of body weight
So what you're saying is I should have dropped another couple of cans of tuna in, half a lambs liver and a tub of peanut butter
-
Sausage and mash, red cabbage and peas gallons of spoon standing. Pear crumble and custard or ice cream (or both).
-
Jacket potatoes with cheese of course, freshly picked tomatoes & lettuce leaves, mayo
More raspberry sponge & for me yogurt & himself will have custard & he’s already said he’s having 2 puddings as he bought 2 packets of his new favourite ice cream cone things lol
-
Burgers, hm crispy potato cubes and hm coleslaw. Spuds, onion and cabbage all from the plot.
-
Spicy chicken with veggie rice.
-
Curried beef mince in half a small roasted butternut squash with fridge gravel salad.
-
We've got jacket potaoes with either grated cheese or cold meats haven't decided , still got painter here thats why i'm doing easy meals this week , will be better next week
-
Meatballs in tomato & basil sauce ftf with pasta for me & shop bought gnocchi for himself .
-
Finished off the spicy chicken last night with cajun wedges and few large flat mushies. Liver and onion tonight, mash and a some of the rather anaemic looking savoy from ocado.
-
Hot Hot spicey chicken strips with aunt besses mini roasters potatoes and peas, pineapple and ice cream :)
-
I did a big batch of air-fried veggies yesterday - onions, peppers and mild chillies from the plot and greenhouse, with some bought carrots thrown in as well.
Last night I cooked meatballs with tomato sauce, added half the veg and served them with hm crispy potato cubes. Tonight was the other half of the veg with lamb grill steaks and veggie rice.
-
Cod & chips, mushy peas, grilled tomatoes, nowt from the chip shop here
-
Herby soddages with green beans and sweetcorn with some spicy salsa
-
I need to finish the liver and onions tonight, mash and cabbage naturally and probably some carrots too.
-
A treat of some noggin ends of fillet steak we bought at the farm shop on Thursday, they were nice & dark then, so even better today I’m sure. Most likely chips, egg for him, mushrooms for me & probably a bit of salad bits. Still not well so just small portions still for me.
-
Al I know, is that I pulled out a bag of minced beef to defrost.
I've no idea, yet, what I'm going to do with it
-
CBA again  Frozen pizza is really about my limit today.
-
Just come back from covid jab all ok,

Quick, easy and almost no washing up :D

It's been a while since I last did something with pasta. I'll find one of the spag bol sauces I made the other week, pasta will be whichever packet falls out the cupboard first as they're piled up jenga style.
-
Cold meats and salad colslaw and pickles plus beetroot f/g, pud banana and yoghurt :)
-
Some of yesterday's ham, with peas and chips - just found a few more red cherry toms, in the greenhouse, and have already eaten them :nowink:

I have a steak pie I was saving for when the weather changed. Now it's 4c it feels about right for pie and mash, cabbage and carrots all covered in spoonstanding.
-
Taken 2 x 1/2lb beef mince out so plan is I think a bolognaise in the slow cooker as I bought a bag of fresh tagliatelle on Saturday. My first foray in to cooking again after not being well, what can go wrong!
-
A HM pasty ftf with cabbage and cauliflower cheese also ftf.
-
Spaghette bolognaise for us tonight, :( No pud i dont have anything :)
-
Change of plan yesterday as I fell asleep late afternoon again  Trying again today although I'm considering moving dinner to lunch time.
-
Yesterday was also a pie fail after I couldn't keep my grubby mitts off the dhal turning it into a lentil and chickpea curry served with plain basmati (would have been so much better with naan). Perhaps third time lucky ...
-
I've bunged the last bit of the gammon joint into the slow cooker with some onions, a small pepper, potatoes and a stock cube.
Later on I may add some curry spices, haven't made up my mind yet ::)
-
I got mince, a bag of carrots and a head of celery as freebies from work (reduced but not sold), so added plot onion and some other bits and turned it into a cottage pie filling.
Tonight is some of it with a mash top of 50/50 potato and pumpkin from the plot, with a bit of spice added in for good measure :) There was enough of everything to do 2 additional smaller pies, so OH has one for tea tomorrow while I am at work and 1 has gone into the freezer to feed him another night.
-
Spicy chilli salmon with veg rice, rest of pineapple and yoghurt :)
-
Friday - There a handful of oven chips and a large flat mushroom with my name on along with a couple of sawhedges and some mushy peas. Don't judge :nowink:
-
OH's last night's leftover meat loaf layered with tomatoes, onions and potatoes plus a few herbs. ;)
-

Lentil and chickpea curry - sounds scrummy, whats the recipe please. Mrs B

Lentil and chickpea curry - sounds scrummy, whats the recipe please. Mrs B
It's still a work in progress Mrs B, but the base is the dahl I've been working on https://chat.allotment-garden.org/index.php?topic=136865.0 for easy lunches from the cupboard. It's all using standard items with long use by dates so there's no need for me to have remembered to buy anything special. I just added a tin of chickpeas with about 10 minutes left to cook.
I use about 200g of lentils which makes 3 'me sized' servings so you may need to adjust down or at least use a big saucepan ;)
-
Lidl’s finest fillet steak, £9.99 for 2 but we shared 1 between us & had plenty, so t’other one is now in the freezer for when hubby has to cook & can’t be bothered!! With chips, salad & mushrooms for me & fried egg for him. :)
-
I had chicken breast in spicy breadcrumbs, with coleslaw and potato pancakes.
-
and potato pancakes.
Like this or do you have another recipe. I like the sound of them :)
https://www.allotment-garden.org/recipe/367/potato-pancakes-recipe/
-
I think it's probably time for a shepherds pie and to use up the cabbage. I should also make an effort to do an apple crumble before the windfalls go manky.
-
and potato pancakes.
do you have another recipe. I like the sound of them :)
My mum got the recipe from Jewish friends, many years ago, but it's easiest now if I link to this video, which has the same ingredients and method :)

only because we were late home having been out all day :)
-
Sweet chilli chicken slices with spiced mixed veg rice.
-
OH didn’t eat his cottage pie last night as he ended up going out somewhere. We had it tonight with plot broad beans. As it was a modest pie designed for 1, I bulked the meal out with a pud and we had crumble made with pink currants and raspberries from the plot. I made the crumble base a while ago and froze a couple of spare batches :)
-
Fish pie, carrots & runners.

Back to pasta tonight
Same here but ours was a cauliflower cheese/pasta mashup
-
Cold roast chicken leftover from yesterday, today it was served with Yorkshire puds, carrots, roast potatoes, sprouts & cauliflower, plenty of gravy.
Shock horror I bought a bag of “peeled sprouts” from the local co op £1.45 for 200g, I had to re peel them !! Only reason I bought them as grandchildren are having a sleepover over & apparently B loves sprouts. Never was or will be a Granny to buy sweets.
-
Mixed salad and pork pie , rest of A/B crumble with custard :)
-
Took out some chicken out of the freezer this morning but it's not looking promising that it will have defrosted in time. Plan B is the pie as I feel the need for a meal covered in gravy today. :nowink:
-
I'm having leftovers from yesterday, cos I'm too lazy to do something else, after planting my Spring cabbage today ;)
Sausage casserole with peas and mash.
-
Hm pizza, chips & salad & Waldorf salad minus the Waldorfs for me
-
Stuffed peppers and some hassselback potatoes. I found a pack of quinoa in the cupboard so cooked the lot and used some in the stuffing. The rest is frozen in tubs for later use.
-
Trout fillets freshly caught yesterday by our neighbours, :D with potatoes & peppers baked in stock, with peas, carrots & cauliflower. Really enjoyed it, first trout of the new season I think?
-
The chicken which didn't defrost in time yesterday spiced up with a few wedges and some cauli/broc cheese.
I tried a shopping order from Trashco today as nobody else appears to be doing the chunky frozen mixed veg which I eat huge amount of any more  the mixed veg were so small they could have been floor sweepings :( I'd go back to keeping individual bags but it takes up so much room in the freezer.
-
Sweet chilli chicken slices with stir fry mixed veg from the Co op :)
-
Sausages new pots and veg, banana ice cream choc sauce and nuts :)
-
Probably the same as yesterday with the chicken and cauli/broc cheese. Need to find a different carb though.
-

-
Beef Chilli with the rest of the Cauli cheese and peas.

-
Spicy chicken leg with cauliflower cheese and some runner beans from the garden.

-
I'm hoping to find either a chilli or a spag bol in the freezer, but my lethargy is so bad this afternoon I CBA to even go and check.
-
Chicken stirfry, fruit yoghurt for pud :)
-
I prepared all the ingredients to make cottage pie, but decided I wasn't going to bother putting the oven on just to brown the top.
It probably wont look as appealing, but will taste near enough :D More Runner beans from the garden to go with it.
-
decided I wasn't going to bother putting the oven on just to brown the top.
Don't tell anyone but I rarely do
-
Frugal is me tonight
OH got given a big lump of cheese by a customer. Yes I know that is an odd sort of tip, but there you go. We had a plot potato and pumpkin bake with cheese, plus I got bacon and cabbage from work as a freebie (reduced not sold). I added a plot onion and made braised cabbage and bacon to go with the bake.

Oven chips, a couple of large mushies , some mushy peas and either sawhedges or breaded cod.

We're having a chinese takeaway. I've told Paul to order what he wants and I'll eat some of that. I thought we were going to have our usual fish as it's Friday but he's had such a bad week at work due to road works outside the shop I've let him off and gone with his choice.
-
Home made mushroom soup made with reduced mushies from local supermarket (19p per carton). Served with home made bread rolls packed with various seeds. Tasty!

YUK i hate mushrooms they dont like me yuk yuk
We all have our pet likes and dislikes, don't we? When I was at school just the sight of sago pudding was enough to make me feel ill, and I must admit to always saying that I hated it, but the fact is I couldn't even bring myself to try it, but I've met loads of people who loved it. Each to his own. It would be a very boring world if we were all the same and I wouldn't have managed to get my bargain mushrooms because if we all liked them they wouldn't have been there for me to buy. Every cloud has a silver lining.
-
I found some orphan meatballs during my freezer sort out, this afternoon - so I'm having them with some of my HM passata over Linguine. Fridge gravel salad to go with it :D
-
Lamb chops,roast potatoes & onions, peas,carrots & broccoli,gravy & gooseberry & mint jelly.
Jelly, raspberries & fruit yogurt for me for pud. Himself says he’s too full but I’m sure he’ll succumb to chocolate in a bit lol
-
Bit late now to get anything out of the freezer so it will have to be something pasta based. Probably mac and cheese as there's plenty of milk.
-
Went to find mince in the freezer and can't find any so the moussaka requested has gone out the window. Found in our 'emergency drawer' a lasagne to have instead.
-
Beef caserole and dumplings, Apple and Raspberry pie with ice cream :)

-
Defrosted some mince, so probably deconstructed cottage pie and mixed veg - oh the excitement. ::)
Google Tamil Nadu mince. It is usually made with lamb mince, but beef works. It is basically onions and meat with a dry roasted spice paste including coconut, but you can easily add veg to it. That was what our beef and pumpkin curry was last night.
If you don't have desiccated coconut, coconut cream can be dissolved in a little hot water and added in, without too much upset to the final result :)
-
I made a 'meatloaf' ... With roast potatoes runner beans and cauliflower cheese..
More of the same...
Sounds delish. Recipe please, then I could try it thanks, Mrs Bouquet

-
Made chilli with the leftover mince - can't say I really want it though. I'm feeling very meh about food lately, that and the 3 day headache I've had makes me think I'm coming down with man flu. ::)
-

Cajun spiced chicken strips with coleslaw and baby potatoes.

-
Out for dinner Hubbys Birthday :D
-
Out for dinner to an Indian restaurant, my friends & I were supposed to go in July when it was newly opened but then I had Covid & they kindly cancelled so that I could go. So curry of some sort & rice I suppose, I’ve spotted lamb rogan josh on the menu so quite possibly that.
-
I've made a veg curry with lots of lentils in it, with a garlic and coriander Naan.
-
I have left over pie. Probably going with mash and mixed veg today.
-
Last night Lamb Shank it was lovely melted in your mouth,
Tonight good old chilli and pilua rice and baghette :)

I am not going to help. Chicken curry with potatoes and cauliflower here. Already made and quietly maturing in the fridge so it will be quick to heat up later, once I get in :)

-
Please do not ask for my tonights dinner (see kitchen natter) Mrs B

A reduced priced steak and ale pie probably with some chips, I expect there will be some onion rings as well as Paul loves them. ::)
-
Cottage pie ftf & various veg, there’s also a leftover jacket potato from last night if ‘we’ decide there’s not enough on the pie.

-
Ravioli stuffed with mushrooms (reduced in the Co-op) topped with cheese (of course) and garlic bread, a tomato and marscapone cheese sauce with it.
-
Hubby had the last of his chicken stew & dumplings from Friday when I was out & I had spaghetti & ftf bolognese & a tub of Tuscan kale that I found on a freezer inventory. All mixed together & it was lovely & far too much but it’s gone
-
Did a pantry sort out the other day and found a jar of cheesy pasta sauce near it's use-by. Not the sort of thing I usually buy, but needed to use it up. So HM Bolognese sauce on the bottom of the dish, then cooked pasta stirred into the cheese sauce and put on top. Topped with some grated cheese and into the oven for 30 mins. Jubbly :) Plus 2 more portions left over
-
I've left it a bit late tonight to be making a meal, bad planning as there's still a lot of piggy left.
I'll leave it an hour and grab a cheese sandwich for supper instead.
-
Pasta bake and some yet to be decided veg.
For some mysterious and unexplained reason, bubbly melted cheese over something out of the oven was playing on my mind … ::)
Topped with some grated cheese and into the oven for 30 mins. Jubbly :)
-
Sausage egg and chips went down a dream , fresh pineapple had better but never mind little ice cream . :)
-
Piggy dinner - remembered the apple sauce forgot the stuffing (exact opposite of the other night). There's enough piggy for a small dinner tomorrow which will also finish off all the frozen mixed veg
-
Spicey hot chicken strips with veg rice, just found a mixed fruit slice in freezer that will do for pud with yoghurt :)
-
Rescued veg from the fridge drawer - a bit of a butternut, swede, carrots, leek, a pepper, then a potato, onion and a handful of lentils from the pantry, and bunged it all in the slow-cooker, this morning.
A nice thick stew now, just need to adjust the seasonings, cos it is a bit bland, so far....
-
Was going to be cod, chips & mushy peas but the fish man wasn’t there this morning so a quick rethink was needed. Roast lamb slices ftf is now cooking as lamb hotpot :)
-
Friday :) Finishing off the last chunky fish fingers, a few oven chips some mushies and I think peas and corn would make a nice change.
-
I have a yearning for something spicy, so 'Hot & Spicy' bread-crumbed chicken strips, with chunky chips, tomatoes and coleslaw :D
-
Something with chicken drumsticks as I got a large tray of them yesterday, looking through some cookery books & I saw a chicken thigh biryani & I fancied rice so I’ll report back

That sounds good, shame hubby doesn't like bones in anything ( men are fussy creatures )
-
Sea bass baked with spicy breadcrumbs few chips and peas, pineapple and ice cream :)
-
Smoked haddock and mash, carrots left over from the over night. Found some salmon fillets reduced today which I had planned for one of the days over 'that period'. Also got the smoked salmon for breakfast crossed off the list, and stashed in the freezer. Shame they never reduce the fizz! :D

Yep chicken biryani it was & it was ok, but I’d roast the chicken up a bit first if I do it again. I only put in 2tsp of curry powder as hubby isn’t keen on curry anymore, but it could have taken more, the recipe said 5tsps. But it makes me cross when he just pokes the food round his plate!
I did puppodoms to start with plain yogurt & chilli sauce for me, mango chutney & tomato & red onion salsa with coriander picked this afternoon from the tunnel, Red chill in mine & none for him
-
Clearing out the freezer (so I can get more apple sauce in) I've found the last tub of spag bol sauce., I'll dump it over penne and call it dinner.
-
I have a yearning for something spicy, so 'Hot & Spicy' bread-crumbed chicken strips
No motivation today, so it's chicken leftovers with spicy veg microwave rice. :D With a few salad bits on the side to make it a tad healthier
-
Fish pie with lots of veg on the side
Scub that the fish pie mix turned out to be 2 pieces of salmon
So baked salmon with tomato halves & roasted peppers, mash, peas, carrots, cauliflower & broccoli with parsley sauce.
:)
-
Sweet and sour chicken dish spiced up with pilua rice and baguette :)
-
I made pizza dough yesterday. I have a bad case of cba but it may still be the easiest meal to produce.
-
This morning I got out a pork loin steak, to defrost. A trip to the plot yielded a tub of Pink Fir Apple potatoes, I thought they were Cara, but they had no label ::) Use error!!!!
Also found some Autumn Calabrese that had managed to live through the drought.
So that's what is going on the plate, with some peas from the freezer and gravy, of course :)
-
H/M cottage pie with veg from garden, peach fruit flan ice cream or yoghurt
-
Was going to be roast pork, potatoes and assorted veg BUT we have been having a problem with water on the kitchen floor all week and couldn't work out where it came from, went in the cupboard under the sink and found that was all wet as well. Emptied it and found the trap joints are loose and when we ran some water to see where the leak was found it was the waste. Paul tapped it and it sprang out. Fortunately we have all parts in stock at the shop so tomorrow evening will be a repair. Decided we can't have a dinner that makes so much washing up, so cooked the pork (eating the crackling while it was hot), so now it's cold pork, pickles and chips.
-
Bad news about the leak, but
cold pork, pickles and chips.
sounds good to me
-
Roast chicken, potatoes, turnips & beetroot. With Yorkshire puddings, peas, sprouts, carrots & cauliflower. There’s stuffing too for himself.
-
Jacket potato with salad and cold meats, making use of oven after Christmas cake comes out :D
-
Mince and mixed veg are defrosting for a quick curry, over microwave rice :)
-
Hubby wanted pizza but no mozzarella, so was to be left over chicken but our neighbour came round with 2 trout fillets so 1 of those baked on top of sliced potatoes, onion & pepper. Peas & carrots no doubt & the last bit of cauliflower that’s lurking.
-
Burger, chips and probably quite a lot of fried onions, as all the ones I have left in the shed are pretty big. I’ll find something green to go on the plate as well :)
-
Plumbing repair all completed, just need to 'reload' the cupboard. We had got out a fish pie from our 'emergency' drawer in case it took longer than it did but Paul did it all in 20 minutes. Green beans on the side.
-
Pizza - I didn't get chance to make it yesterday.
-
The plan is to do beef stew in the slow cooker with the shin I have defrosted, it is definitely stew weather ::)
-
a nice pork shank or hock cooked in the slow cooker with carrots and onions served with mash potatoes followed by a plumb crumble
-
The leftover chicken from Sunday, might end up as a stew as the weather is dreadful
-
Spag bol tonight spiced up as it's cold and damp, fruit yoghurt for pud :)
-
A leftover portion of sausage & mushroom casserole ftf with cabbage and mash.
-
Meatballs with chunky veg and gravy. It needs mash really, but CBAs have hit, so wedges instead.
-
Its pizza tonight,as I'm now chief cook lost the main one last Sunday jezza
-
Sausage, chorizo, pasta bake. Again with garlic bread. Chicken out of the freezer ready for a casserole tomorrow.
-
Not my favorite meal, burger chips and B Beans, pudding was better small banana little ice cream and a sprinkling of nuts :)
-
Its pizza tonight,as I'm now chief cook lost the main one last Sunday jezza
So sorry to hear that jezza. Hope you are getting through it all OK.
-
Lentil soup, cheese and biscuits, cos CBA fairy is here ::)
-
Its pizza tonight,as I'm now chief cook lost the main one last Sunday jezza
My condolences Jezza, hope you are ok & have some support
-
The rest of the beef stew - awful meat even after slow cooking for 8 hours.
-
Chicken, mash and mixed veg.
-
one of my favourite meals bacon and onion roll with mash potatoes and cabbage followed by apple pie and custard
-
After an extended coffee & cake at 11 for my daughter in laws birthday that turned into a late lunch party, they’ve only just all gone, so not sure what we’ll be having, might be beans on toast & not the lamb chops I was planning on lol
-
Mac cheese for me , steak pie for him , pineapple with yoghurt i expect :)
-
I've defrosted some chicken strips - think I'll stir-fry them with some fridge gravel and I have a pack of m/w Mexican rice, I can add. Seems like a plan :D
-
Ended up as jacket potato with cheese & beans ::)
-
Stir-fry here as well with lots of veg and some leftover rice. We had some fish grilled with garlic and chilli to go with it.
-
Slice of gammon, mushies and oven chips.
-
Battered cod and chips, I expect there will be some onion rings as they're Paul's favourites.
-
Baked Plaice fillet few chips and peas, rest of pineapple and ice cream :)
-
I'm trying to make sense of the odds n ends drawer in the small freezer and found a v. small pot of Bolognese sauce, so had that with some Bucatini. It needed quite a lot of grated cheese before it tasted of anything though, tbh ::)
So I'm chewing gum, cos I've still got the munchies....
-
Home made Madras curry with pilua rice popadoms chopped up onions and cucumber me thinks it might be a bit hot . :D
-
Lamb chops, mash, carrots, peas, broccoli & sprouts, gravy & gooseberry & mint jelly
-
I've stood and gazed into the fridge a number of times but nothing has screamed eat me. I'm trying to resist the urge just to tip a tin of tuna into a bag of microwave spicy rice :nowink:
-
Roast beef with roast potatoes, parsnips, butternut squash, red onion, garlic, mushrooms & peppers , with sprouts, broccoli, carrots & peas. Can you tell we’ve got stuff needed to be used up lol. There might even be Yorkshire puds, if I think I can manage a couple (they’re in the freezer as we now make a tray full & freeze the leftovers :lol) & gravy of course.
-
I'm trying to make sense of the odds n ends drawer in the small freezer
I also found a small pot of chilli beans and an unlabelled one that looked like mince and veg  Luckily that's what it was and mixed together it made quite a tasty meal :D
-
Sawhedges if they defrost in time as I was late taking them out. Probably time I had mash and onion gravy, which just leaves whatever I can find in the freezer for the veggies.
-
Breaded cod for me and a steak for Paul, both with chips.
-
Leftovers-lamb chops, mash, various veg, gravy, with some extra freshly cooked veg to fill it out.
-
A couple of chicken drumsticks in breadcrumbs, I added a sprinkle of Cajun spice, with coleslaw, peas and small boiled potatoes.
-
Ham egg and chips tonight something easy, fruit yoghurt for pud :)
-
The sawhedges hadn't defrosted so I ended up with beans on toast. I cooked them late evening with the intention of having them tonight - but I have a serious case of the CBA and peeling spuds is such an effort.
-
Beef hotpot to use up the rest of Sundays roast
-
Wet mince and mash, lovely for a chilli evening NO PUD only because i haven't anything suitable
-
This afternoon I made a batch of small meat pies and some basic 'post-war recipe' fairy cakes.
Cooking some mixed veg to go with a pie and as I've already eaten 2 cakes, I'll not be cooking potatoes ::)
-
I'll not be cooking potatoes ::)
I forced myself to make the effort and they "went" in the water, I ended up with lumpy sludge I couldn't mash  I rescued enough lumps for last night but there should have been leftovers for today.
Not sure if I'll try mashing those spuds again tonight, I really don't want to make wedges and the sawhedges need eating.
-
I've also found some of my spuds aren't cooking well this year, as you say they're either hard or sludge. Its weird
-
There’s a reasonable amount of beef hot pot leftover from last night. But as I’m trying to get to one of the farm shops we go to tonight as they’re having a Christmas market with 10% off almost everything including meat, but it’s 5 til 7 or 8pm. There’s a lovely cafe there, so depends on whether it’s just drinks & cakes on offer there as to what we end up with. I shall be stocking the freezer with meat hopefully.
-
Vegetable Soup, Mk 2. Peeled two smallish potatoes and 1 carrot, cut very small, Microwave cook and add a tin of Minestrone Soup. It will be delicious, because I have done it before. Yum, Yum. Mrs B
-
Vegetable Soup, Mk 2.
The Heinz Big Soups are similar if you like that sort of thing.
-
A cheat's cottage pie - mince &gravy from a can and Idahoan instant mash from the pkt with peas from the freezer
You can tell that CBA fairy is here again, can't you?
-
Mrs Growster - bacon sandwich,
Me - BLT...
-
Ended up buying amongst many other things, burgers & buns & delicious coleslaw, brought home & cooked & eaten. Really hit the spot served with a good dosing of homegrown salad leaves & tomatoes.
-
Friday is no brainer day. Oven chips, mushies and I've bought a pasty :nowink: I'll probably slap some beans with it too if there's an open tin in the fridge.
-

I must put a pastie on my list  Mrs B
-
Mmmm sometimes a pasty is just the right thing :D
Off to the Christmas market in the village with the midget gems this evening & there’s a rumour of turkey cobs amongst the other goodies on offer so I’ll report back
-
Bacon, egg, chips and beans for me :)
-
Fish fingers for us but we can't decide what to have with them. We had beans last night with the sausages so they're out and we had chips earlier in the week. Might have to be a fish finger sandwich.
-
a nice lamb stew with mix veg's and dumplings of cause I think Il forgo the pudding tonight :D
-
Had to have packet fish tonight run out of fresh :(
-
Homemade Chilli with pilua rice and 1/2 a baghette it might be anther hot one :D
-
Pizza tonight , it's quick and easy .
-
Hunters chicken, fresh tagliatelle for me & gnocchi for himself, peas, carrots, broccoli & sprouts with garlic bread.
-
Grilled lamb chop, peas, coleslaw and some baby potatoes (last of the PFAs)
-
Roast duck breast (special offer in the Co-op), roast potatoes, carrots, green beans and leek.
-
I put a bag of frozen braising beef in the slow-cooker overnight, meaning to make a pie. Now I can't be bothered - it feels like too much faffing around making/rolling the pastry ::)
I'll just serve some of the beef with cauliflower cheese and green beans ftf.
-
Turners Steak and Kidney pie with new pots and plenty of veg plus gravy, Blackberry and Apple crumble with custard :)
-
I swear the CBA fairy must have magic powers like Santa as she appears to be in more than one place at once ::)
I CBA to eat yesterday so forced myself to use up the last of the frozen lamb mince with some sludge mash  and mixed veg.
-
I have been a bit frazzled with extra hours at job no 2 for the last few weeks, so the CBA fairy has been making herself felt here as well and I’ve ended up a few hit and miss teas.
Day off today, plus managed to get to the plot this morning and come back with a whole bucket of veg, so in honour of that we’ve had stir-fry with pork and plot spring onions and greens.
Tomorrow I am planning a big cottage pie batch cook with swede and turnip from the plot and onion and spuds from the shed :)
-
Breaded turkey fillet chips and beans, rest of crumble with custard :)
-

I needed to bake bread today, so bit the bullet and made the pastry for the rest of the beef, plus a few sultana scones, as well.
I'll probably overdose on the carbs, for a few days, but at least the oven was filled
-
Ham and cheese omellette new pots and peas, fruit yoghurt for pud :)
-
Leftover roast pork from Sunday with leftover Yorkshire puds & gravy with fresh roast potatoes & parsnips, carrots & sprouts, no peas as we’ve run out & I forgot to buy more this afternoon ::)
-
I had leftover mash taking up space in the fridge, used it up in a corned beef hash. Key was missing from the tin which I wasn't pleased about, had to get the pliers out to open it safely.
-

Oh dear, Lards, some days can be a trial can’t hey
-
Lamb chop, cabbage, peas, mash and gravy YUM!
-
Oh dear, Lards, some days can be a trial can’t hey
Particularly when you're a miserable curmudgeon like me ::) Today's dinner calamity comes in the form of a chicken breast I took out to defrost this morning .... which hasn't, the plan was for sweet and sour chicken.
I might end up with spicy wedges, sliced corn beef and beans.
-
A quick spag bol, pineapple and ice cream :)
-
Smoked haddock risotto with poached egg on top
-
Mr. Brain's faggots, mash, green beans and carrots. Yum,yum, yum. We've bought faggots from butchers before and wished we hadn't. You can't beat Mr. Brain.
-
The last of my 'to be eaten soon' finds from the freezer, was some skinless sausages.
I made them into balls in a tomato/chilli sauce over spaghetti, peas and peppers on the side.
Now I have an empty drawer for all the holiday food to go in :D
-
Lardman, go & get something out for tomorrow now. :)
-

Need to start getting one out a day in advance, you know we worry about you:)
-
cottage pie with mix veg's followed by mince pies and custard that should last me till breakfast, but I might be tempted to have a couple of chocolates and a packet of crisps: lol:
-
Cajun spiced chicken with peas and cauliflower cheese.
-
Snap again
We have some grill steak things from work, hm potato wedges and … cauliflower cheese.
The best bit is that everything was made and put in the fridge yesterday afternoon, so just ready to chuck in oven when I get home from work :)
-
Spicey chicken strips with veg rice, rest of pineapple and yoghurt :)
-
Chicken thigh tray bake, himselfs in charge, so no spices.
-
Chicken Rogan Josh, naan, pilau rice and onion bhajis. All courtesy of the reduced section in the Co-op. Four pound fifty for the lot. I just hope we've got some mango chutney in the cupboard.
-
Garden Club Christmas Dinner tonight. The village hall will look very festive and the caterers have been used many times with success. £23.00 for four course blow-out. But my pretty tops look a bit silly over my thermals.  Mrs Bouquet
-
Much better to be warm though, IMO. Have a nice time.
Uchiki Kuri & Butternut soup is in the slow-cooker, will have cheese & tomatoes on toast with it.
-
Bass fillet chips and peas, more pineapple from posh shop M/S :)
-
H/m cottage pie & gravy ftf with carrots, peas,hg cauliflower & hg broad beans ftf.
-
I'll give you a clue
-
Same here but mines a takeaway :)
-
Baked salmon & peppers, with croquette potatoes that hubby made in my absence this afternoon, peas & carrots
-
Well it was supposed to be roast chicken, potatoes, stuffing and assorted veg from the freezer to make some room. Paul carried the meat, potatoes, stuffing and plates through but when he went back for the gravy and veg he tripped and the veg went flying. We tried the five second rule but on a closer look it had some hairs and other 'items' on them so we went without. ::)
-
Some of the leftover steak pie from the freezer with cabbage and carrots.
-
when he went back for the gravy and veg he tripped and the veg went flying.
So we assume Paul was okay then.
Deconstructed cottage pie, chunky mixed veg - new bag of spuds which didn't turn to mush. No spoonstanding today. I don't know what they've done to the bisto best gravy granules but they don't thicken without half a jar being used, I've tried their regular too and they were worse. Might have to try another brand or switch to old school browning and cornflour.

Old school browning and cornflour and hm stock all the way for me plus a red wine stock pot or real wine.
Tonight for us was pressure cooker lamb stew. Thought it was lamb slices for a quick roast dinner but turned out to be more chunks
-
Spicy fish cakes with veg rice, Apple and Raspberry crumble with ice cream :)
-
I got freebie mince and peppers from work the other day - 2 packs of each reduced and not sold. It seemed a no-brainer to make a big batch of chilli, so just that to reheat and some rice to cook and that was the job done :D
-
Fried chicken pieces in a tomato, garlic & basil sauce over tagliatelle or gnocchi or both if your hubby lol & carrots & cauliflower for me.
-
Lasts nights roast chicken left overs turned into a version of chicken supreme with mushrooms, peppers and a white sauce, served with rice.
-
Left over chicken curry with veggie rice.
-
Also leftovers - mash , mince and mixed veg. Leftover mince which has chilli written all over it for tomorrow.
-
peri peri chicken dish it was rather hot with chips and peas, rest of pud left from yesterday with yoghurt ;)
-
Chicken in spicy b/crumbs, tomatoes, sweetcorn and a few chip ;)
-
Chilli and rice.
-
There's a small amount of chilli left, not enough to put with rice and there are no large spuds for a jacket, I might have to pour it over wedges with a liberal coating of cheese - Shame.
-
I defroze some lamb soup, added a couple of leeks from the garden, and a pepper and a spud, and zapped the lot...
It was't half bad, but we're starving now, so the cheese has been attacked with some vigour...
-
It's looking like it's going to have to be pasta. Not exactly the weather for it but thems the breaks. Must remember to defrost something overnight otherwise it will be pasta tomorrow too.
-
I forgot it was Friday. Chicken back in the fridge as it's oven chip night, I think there's another one of those ginster things and probably some beans.
-
Spicy butternut soup with bacon sarnies.
-
M and S Mac cheese tonight been out for lunch :D
-
Chicken - Was planning on a full chicken dinner but I'm developing curry munchies so now I'm not sure.
-
Lemon pepper bread-crumbed Basa fillet, peas, coleslaw and a small jacket spud.
-
Bolognaise (it’s in the slow cooker as we speak, with fresh tagliatelle (from the shop ) gnocchi & garlic bread for himself .
I’ve been making mince pies all afternoon & a tin of tiffin, but they’re not on the menu as they’re for garden club tomorrow
-
Chicken stir fry :)
-
Pork fillet sliced into medallions with mushrooms, sherry and creme fraiche sauce. Sauted potatoes on the side. All cooked under the grill so should save energy.
-
Cathedral City quiche (work freebie), oven chips and salad. The quiche was OK, but not worth the money they are asking for it. Our cheapo own brand is better
-

Note taken :D
-
Chicken and butterbean casserole. (Using bits from the freezer again). One pot meal, will put some potatoes in nearer to completion time so they don't go mushy. Carrots and parsnips in the casserole.
-
A pukka pie with chicken balti filling, fresh carrots and frozen peas.
I am not sure how to cook as it says In a pre-heated fan assisted oven at 190 for 25-30 mins. I don't use my fan oven because it is huge. I'll make it up as I go along !
-
I am not sure how to cook as it says In a pre-heated fan assisted oven at 190 for 25-30 mins.
I'd say 200c for 30 mins - I think the filling in those are already cooked so it's just the pastry you're cooking.
I have some sausage meat to use as I can't remember what I bought it for. I've turned it into meatballs and they're simmering away in a tommy sauce. Pasta shape TBD, not that it really matters.
-
Leg of chicken with peas, carrots and roasties ;)
-
I am honestly not copying you, but snap … again
Chicken leg tray bake with roasties, shallots and carrots. Peas and broad beans for green veg. Plenty of spoon standing. Spuds, shallots and beans all homegrown :)
-
Roast lamb,spuds & parsnips with carrots,peas & cauliflower, Yorkshires & gravy, none homegrown .:(
-
Lamb chop for me pork chop for o/h roasties and veg, not sure about pud :)
-
A couple of meatballs from the freezer, with m/w spicy Mexican rice with some mixed veg stirred through. That should warm me up
-
Eggs not available in our Co-op, so no toad in the hole as requested. So just bangers and mash with onion gravy. Found a carrot at the bottom of the veg bin so that can go with it.
-
Hoping the stir fry pork I fetch out this morning defrosts so I can do something spicy with it. Failing that I have the second loaf of the day in the bread machine for beans on toast after I forgot to put the yeast in loaf 1.
-
Failing that I have the second loaf of the day in the bread machine for beans on toast after I forgot to put the yeast in loaf 1.
OOOPS! I thought it was only me that did silly things like that ::)
I've also got pork, a loin steak, out of the freezer, thinking of cooking it with Cajun spice - got mixed veg, also ftf to go with it.
-
Chilli con carne with a jacket potato as we discovered we didn't have enough rice for both of us. The shopping list fairy has failed again in her duties! :D
-
Steak & kidney to be slow cooked when I get my act together, with a puff pastry top ftf for himself, plenty of mash, might do carrot & swede too, might see if one of the cauliflowers in the tunnel will defrost to go with it
-
I bought a joint of beef to slice, portion and freeze which is currently occupying the slow cooker as I very rarely buy real beef any more.
I'm torn between a full roast beef dinner (although no eggs for yellow frizbees), the chickpea and lentil curry I've made which is sitting bubbling away nicely or doing something spicy with the pork which didn't defrost in time for dinner yesterday.
The curry just requires rice and would be the obvious CBA choice but I should use the pork and the sorry looking bean sprouts that snasbods delivered this morning.
-
It must be pie time
I put a pack of stewing beef in the slow-cooker, this morning, and then made it into a pie, served with cabbage and carrots.
-
Spag bol yesterday wich already made, tonight cajun chicken with pilaua rice some thing easy as i have a streaming cold >:(
-
It must be pie time
It's always pie time.
I ended up with pork stir fry yesterday in hoisin sauce over rice. So it's curry tonight with the leftover rice.
-
Chicken thighs roasted,hm oven chips & onions & garlic. Peas & carrots, mayo, tomato ketchup for him & sweet chilli sauce for me.
-
a nice piece of locally made faggot with cabbage mash potatoes and some nice onion gravy apple turnover to follow
-
Friday is oven chip night, mushy peas and whatever I can find to go with them in the freezer.
-
I've got mince, tomato, pepper, onions, garlic and cannellini beans in the slow cooker. Will cook some Conchiglie pasta to go with it, for tea.
The rest will go in the oven tomorrow, with a cheese sauce topping ;)
-
Bolognaise ftf with pasta twists & a good sprinkle of cheese, Not sure what himself is having as I had mine with our little grandson as I’m babysitting him . Since himself didn’t want anything getting out of the freezer I bet he’s had bacon, egg & proper chips cooked in oil lol
-
I have a huge case of cba today. It's likely to be pasta of some form with tuna dumped into it, either cheese or pesto as a sauce depending on the availability of a second clean sauce pan.
-
I've got mince, tomato, pepper, onions, garlic and cannellini beans in the slow cooker. Will cook some Conchiglie pasta to go with it, for tea.
The rest will go in the oven tomorrow, with a cheese sauce topping ;)
CBA to do much with it, so some of the mince mix just got warmed up in the M/W and eaten with crusty HM bread and a small bowl of salad bits.
-
I fetched some sawhedges out this morning - although I still CBA I need to have a proper meal. I'm planning on sawhedge, mash and whatever veg I can find in the freezer and I'm a little fed up with tomato based sauces.
-
still CBA ..... I'm planning on sawhedge, mash and whatever veg I can find in the freezer
Same here... ::)
-
In the run up to Christmas we always do plain food stuff, so tonight is a jacket potato with chilli from the freezer.
-
Roasted chicken legs with roasted plot spuds, tender stem broccoli and lots of spoon standing :)
-
Roast pork ftf with roast potatoes & parsnips, braised red cabbage ftf ( needs using up it says 2020!) swede & carrot mash, peas, stuffing, stewed apple ,gravy & Yorkshires ftf.
-
Made extra mash yesterday so there are leftovers for today. Might fish the cauli and broc out of the mixed veg and make cauli cheese if I can be bothered, otherwise mixed veg again.
-
We had sausages and a bit of mash yesterday, both still feeling very ill, this a horrible virus. Goodness knows what weve got tonight dont feel like anything at the moment. :(
-
Lamb hotpot might be with some of the leftover vat of swede & carrot mash I made yesterday. :nowink:
-
I seem to have amassed a few packets of cheese ::) so I'll have a cheesy jacket spud with peas, coleslaw and fridge gravel salad :)
-
Tray bake with spuds, carrots, cabbage wedges and pork chops.
-
Beef mince out defrosting. Not sure if it will end up as chilli, spag bol or cottage pie, probably best to stick with rice or pasta tonight until ocado have delivered more spuds tomorrow as I'm running low and I don't fancy a dash to the supermarket in person to buy them.
-
Hubby fancies a prawn salad i shall have a bit, no way got appetite back yet :)
-
locally made faggots with carrots peas and mash served with some good gravy and plumbs and custard to follow :)
-
Had to take half a bag of chips out of the freezer, in order to get Christmas icecream in, so ham, egg and chips for me :D
-
Slices of wholemeal bread with olive spread and slices of peppered ham to make a sandwich.
-
Fridge clearout, there's some bacon, mash and veg left from yesterday, soon to be bubble and squeak and an egg on the top. Plus some pickles if wanted, I'm dying to try the pickled onions we did earlier.
-
Tinned tuna, tinned sweetcorn, Thai sweet chilli sauce and salad bits ;)
-
I was supposed to make a chilli as the mince hadn't defrosted in time for dinner yesterday... large case of CBA though. I really just want a cheese and pickle toasted sandwich and an early night.
-
Spicy chicken bits with veg rice, pineapple and icecream :)
-
2 boiled eggs mushed up with a cheese triangle on toast for me, leftover lamb stew for himself as I’d been out for lunch
-
Wet mince with mash potato and veg :)
-
Mash here as well and spoon standing. There will be pork loin steaks and veg to go with them, but the mash and gravy are the main event for me :D
-
Cottage pie & spoon standing here, carrots, peas & sprouts. Think himself is having a slice off one of the two loaves he made this morning with his .
-
As a special treat I bought a charlie bigham jalfrezi (it was half price) - not impressed. It's tiny, comes in some sort of ?bamboo? containers and can't be nuked. It better taste spectacular !
edit :
Okay - it wasn't bad. There was a very reasonable amount of chicken in there although the sauce was very mild, bordering on floral. Fair value at half price and definitely better than the usual supermarket offerings but they're having a laugh wanting nearly a tenner for it normally.
-
CBA here, so nuked a Ginster's Cornish pasty ftf, plus a few token salad bits ;)
-
CBA here, so nuked a Ginster's Cornish pasty ftf
It's Friday and that sounds like a good idea to me - There's handful of oven chips left which will finish off the bag. I might have to put a spoon of baked beans with it though.
-
We usually have fish on a Friday but as we always have fish on Christmas Eve we've had to find something else. Lamb chops and chips are apparently on the menu, baked beans were on the menu but as I've already had them this week were cancelled.
-
Baked Sea Bass with spicy breadcrumbs few chips and peas oh had birds eye fish :)
-
Hm oven chips, chicken strips with peppers & garlic, salad & hm coleslaw.
-
Gastro fish with lemon/pepper breadcrumbs, coleslaw and a small jacket spud, lots of chilli mayo was also involved.
-
Put some chicken legs in the slow cooker just as is as they're on the use by date. Might shred and then spice them up or finish them up in a hot oven and make into a chicken dinner.
-
Posh shop Stir fry, my husband calls Waitrose 'posh shop'
-
Chicken dinner here as well.
Got chicken breasts on the bone to roast, but we are having a full roast tomorrow so I found a couple of big spuds in the shed for baked potatoes to go with them.
I might just go with coleslaw and salad as sides as I have both and there would be minimal effort involved. Opening the oven door and chucking stuff in is about as much as I want to do tonight

Same here, got a HM steak pie portion defrosting, will cook with some oven-chips and there's a pile of salad bits in the fridge. Sorted!

Sounds like were all fed up up with getting meals, it's a shame we have to eat  I think all kids should learn to cook even boys, shame my hubby never learnt :)
-
Pate with Melba toast to start then poached salmon, sauteed potatoes, carrots and green beans. Lemon mousse for afters if anyone can be bothered. Mousse is courtesy of M & S, it comes in a jar and you just whip it into some double cream so is a handy thing to have in the cupboard.
I have put the s prouts on to cook this evening ready for tomorrow. ;) :D :D

Well we were having tea with our son & family but as Daughter in law ended up in a& E this morning with breathing difficulties , hubby & I had dinner with the 3 grandchildren as by then son was home but feeling rough too so went to bed. Jacket potatoes, home cooked ham (lucky I did it yesterday plus hm coleslaw) salad, I made plenty yesterday, hm French bread, hubby made this morning, baked beans & cheese for the children. Gingerbread biscuits & reindeer & snowman ice creams or magnums & mince pies.
(Daughter in law now home & has the flu, she’s been on IV antibiotics all day) so get the flu jab when you can or it might bite you in the bum!
-
Wasn't really in the mood - but dragged myself into the kitchen and did a chicken dinner with one of the legs I'd slow cooked. Debating if I should pour some custard over some apple puree or a wodge of ginger cake for pudding.
-
Cold turkey, bubble and squeak and pickles. Much as I love Christmas dinner with all the trimmings I'm equally fond of leftovers.
-
Looking in the fridge, it looks like a choice of cold meat and a good old bubble & squeak for tea here, as well
-
Leftovers of some description here as well. Having brought our share of the ribs of beef & turkey home from our daughters, there’s sprouts & cauliflower cheese to go at too but no gravy :ohmy, but if I can stir myself out of my post Christmas stupor I could make a start on the bones for stock lol. Might need to bake some more mince pies from the frozen ones in the freezer as they got left at our daughters.
-
Cold turkey here with all the trimmings , H/M Trifle for pud :)
-
We always do Delia's special cottage pie with yesterday's left over beef :)
-
We're on the cold turkey and bubble and squeak with pickles as well.
-
The other chicken leg (still 2 more left) as a chicken dinner. I'm quickly coming to the conclusion I'm not overly keen on chicken and anything with bones in is far too much hassle to eat.

Now then, now then come on spill the beans where dost thou get these chickens with all these legs from ? And how the bl@@dy hell do you catch ‘em

I've got a husband like you :D drives me mad i love eating things of the bone :D

They're special aracnofoul, easier to catch than you think as they don't fly off - but they can be a real pain if they start crawling up the walls.
I stripped the meat off the bones earlier - I was going to make a pepper corn sauce and have chicken and mushroom over a little pasta, but now I think I'd prefer cheese on toast.
-
Paul had gammon egg and chips. I've gone down with the lurgy that's going round, thanks to my Granddaughter, so am only having nibbly bits and pieces.
-
All I really fancied was some soup, I used left over veg and some chicken bits ftf. Sorted.
-
For a really grotty day re the weather, i did a roast with Turkey as we hadn't had it hot and it went down a treat followed by the rest of Fruit trifle which has all gone. :)
-
Cod,chips & mushy peas.
-
I went with the cheese on toast yesterday so had to finish the chicken with pasta in a tomato sauce tonight.
-
Pasta bake with a lot of festive leftovers hidden in it. There was a cheese sauce with 3 different cheeses, leftover ham, some roasted tomatoes and peppers from leftover salad veg, plus carrot, celery and green beans all cut up small and chucked in with the pasta to boil for the last minute or so.
It was very good and made a huge amount, so there is another bake sat in a dish in the fridge. That will do nicely for Friday, when I am at work all day and can just about manage to open the oven door and chuck something in when I get home :D
-
Some sliced ham on its 'use by' with peas, baby boiled potatoes and tomatoes and cue on the side.
-
It's about time I did something rice based. I took some mince beef out to defrost yesterday so I think a chilli. I might split it as I actually have a green pepper for once and should make a spag bol sauce before it goes off.
-
Jacket potato with salad bits and pieces, cheese and ham plus pickles.
Banana yoghurt choc sauce and nuts for pud :)
-
The other half of the turkey & ham bake with sliced potatoes on the top that hubby made the other night, there wasn’t much turkey in it so there’s the last of that sliced up to chuck in & he’s also eying up tge last of the stuffing , there’s also some leftover veg lurking in the end of the dish so with extra sprouts for me that should see us right lol.
I made turkey & veg soup yesterday for lunch & we had more of that at lunch today. Just sliced & frozen 6 portions of the ham so that’s gone & I canned 3 pints of the soup yesterday.
Just canning the 1st 3 of 9 jars of swede & carrot for mash so should be cleared through of everything apart from the chocolates.
-
As I've already said caught the lurgy from Granddaughter, now on antibiotics as true to form it's gone to my chest. Paul is having turkey and mushroom in some sort of sauce and I'm having some chips as I really fancy the vinegar to cut through the 'fug' in my mouth.
-
Winner winner chicken dinner here.
Picked up a large half price chicken so it seemed rude not to  I’ll do some plot spuds with it and fish some veg out of the freezer, along with a couple of large yorkshire puds that didn’t get used over Christmas.
-
Friday - oven chip. Nothing fishy in the freezer unfortunately so it will have to be the last of the pasties. Peas and corn and probably a few mushies.
-
Curried leftovers with cauliflower rice, salad bits and chutney to go with it.
-
Lamb chops, mash, carrots, peas & sprouts, spoon standing no doubt as hubby is making it.
-
Baked Sea Bass with chips peas , pineapple and ice cream :)
-
Sweet and sour turkey to finish it off. We usually make our own sauce but as I can't taste a thing decided to use the emergency jar of sauce in the cupboard.
-
Chilli con carne with pilau rice 1/2 a baghette :D
-
Early dinner, I've finished the chilli leftovers in a nuked spud. Had to cover it in cheese too , it would have been rude not to.
-
We had a clear out tea - some frozen party food I bought from work that you just shove in the oven, some cold meats from an Italian inspired mixed meat pack, some salad, some bread and a posh prawn ring with king prawns marinated in chilli.
Now pretty festive free apart from a bottle of fizz I’ve stashed in the fridge for later ;)
-
Chilli chicken, coleslaw and a jacket spud for me.
Followed by the last of the chocolates with a handful of walnuts :)
-
Chicken tikka masala, rice, peshwari & garlic naans, onion bhaji’s & puppadums all hm by me bar the puppadums that I just microwaved. Don’t think himself enjoyed it as he just pushed his around the plate mainly. >:(
