Christmas tree in run!!!
« on: December 11, 2009, 07:51 »
hi am trying to think of ways to recycle my real Christmas tree  :) and was wondering if my chickens would  make use of it i.e for a roost, in there run, any one tried this? not sure if it would just cause more problems (pine needles in feet etc,,) or if its worth a try, any thoughts welcome.

I recycled last years tree by cutting off two chunks with the chainsaw (each about 12 inches long) and using a strap of galvanised metal I screwed the remaining trunk to the top of each of the other pieces, like a set of goal posts.  I trimmed off all the branches, then put a base on each of the legs for stability and voila a roost.   This year I think I will do the same.
