Hmmm...  Heavy legs, are those tail feathers curling, what shape are the hackle fethers ?

I think its a hen -cant see any saddle feathers-diff to see in the light tho as Aunty says fro neck hackle feathers.

Is it a wheaten maran?  If so, I'm pretty sure its a girl, boys have  different colouring.

I'm confident that she's a she, but my husband is suspicious. He's basing this mainly on her being at least 18 weeks, a great big bird but not having laid any eggs as yet.

I don't know what breed she is, when I collected her the farmer said she is a crossbreed of some description and that she would lay white eggs.

Jeez, your hubby is pushy!  Could he lay eggs at 18 weeks!!?  Anyway, I think girly and she'll get to it when her headache has gone.  Perhaps all the bouncing has put her off?

Its definately a girl. Could be another month even longer before she starts to lay though. She's a bonny bird.

Well for what its worth, I am sitting on the fence with Aunty :shock:  :shock: as I had one very similar that I was convinced was a girl and my daughter kept saying NO, its a boy mummy you wait n see and she was right :oops: and has been more than once :oops:  :oops: so tho I think it looks like a girl now, it wouldnt surprise me if it suddenly got longer tail feathers and started doodle doing his cock :shock:

Thank you to all of you. As I said, it looks like a hen to me - I think a male would be more upright and leaner plus the comb is stubby and insignificant. I think I just have an impatient husband!
